My Motorcycle LED's Are Draining My Battery - How to Fix That!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, we will learn how to fix motorcycle LED lights that are draining the battery. We will start by discussing the causes of this problem, and then we will show you how to fix it.
I decided to wire up an inline button that completely disconnects power to them so there is no power draw. Here is how I installed the button and ran the wires. 2018 GSX250R JRMSweeps. #gsxr #gsx250r #ledlights

After 2 weeks of doing this video and not starting the motorcycle, I went out yesterday and it cranked right up. This was the fix to my battery being drained by my LED's.

Maybe hook them to the headlights , so they only come on and go off when the headlight is activated..

I just hooked a led kit up to this bike of my buddies bike he just bought its an older bike and he bought it used we put the lights on last night and this morning it almost started but didn't is it that the battery is just not a good battery? it's an older bike its a 1998...or is there something else that needs to be done to cut off power fully? Like the led kit from Amazon has a factory push button cheap on off style on the ground which that I hooked up to the actual battery ground and I hooked the positive up to the actual battery positive terminal... does it need a completely separate toggle switch on top of that whole setup also to stop the power fully or?

Was there a battery issue prior to hooking up the lights? Did the bike sit for a long period of time before starting again? When was the last time the battery was changed or charged? Of the battery is good, then there could be some draw from the lights. That is why I did the installation video.

@JRMSweeps battery looks old honestly but there wasn't an issue before he just bought it a month ago I'm wondering if it needs a real toggle switch they put a cheap push button switch on it but it clearly doesn't fully kill the power because you can still use the remote to turn it back on after pushing the "switch" that came on the ground lead with the kit but we did it last night and then this morning it was dead

What about disconnecting the lights at the battery, charging the battery, and then trying to start it the next day or 2? If the battery isn't dead after doing that, then definitely install a kill switch like I did.

I think a basic on off switch would work much better.

So it's fine to have the black ground wire not connected ?

Correct. If you wire up the negative on that particular switch I used, it illuminates the LED ON/OFF lights, thus keeping power constant at the switch. Doing it the way I did in the video interrupts any power draw to the LED lights on the bike!

I pray you respond this this question. I have the same switch you have, but my wiring is blue, black, and red. How do I install this?

So that switch is literally just a interrupter between the battery and lights And You can just connect negative on the frame or battery directly too the lights separately? Which you be better to get negative from frame/battery or it’s the same?

@romualdoduarte5521 yes, it's an interrupter. As long as your frame is grounded to the neg side of the battery, you can ground to the frame. My preference is always the battery if possible, but either will work!
