in ww2, the amount of times a sherman was hit in the transmission block by an 8.8cm cannon (mobile artillery/tank/towed) and the recovery crews fount the transmission in the engine bay or blown intirely out the back of the tank is ludicrous. that being said, I honestly feel that before gaijin tries to redo the transmission on vehicles, they should fix the rampant and rapacious spawn camping that happens on their poorly designed maps.

heres a pro tip for this tank, for those who have a button bound to switch between automatic and manual transmission modes. she pivots best on level ground in gear 3 (if you need it, you can switch to gear 4 once you get it started on paved surfaces). you can get your gun on target to someone BEHIND you faster than most turreted tanks of its br could do the same. if you dont have a button to keep your tank sat still in gear 3, just drive forward untill the driver puts it in 3 then pivot.

The PZ IV/70 is still one of my favorite tanks to play, germany's casemates are fun to sit back and play but are pretty horrible to go against

I just started to use it today and this is the first td I use in War Thunder. I love it, armour is good, gun is great, mobility is ok (for a king tiger user). In 2 battles,I brought it to br 6.7 or higher battlefield , which there are a lot of post war tank. In one of the desert map, i use it to destroy 2-3 tanks, included a Firefly, one shot from more than 1000m, and a T92 in close range when it’s fighting with a Panther A. In another forest map, I ambushed 3 enemy crafts, included a M36 Jackson (ambush), M46 Patton (ambush), and a M3 AA gun

Actually love this tank… not the biggest fan of most turretless tanks but the IV/70 is one of the all times greats

I have killed them frontally with a T 50 (because scouting is a thing). No big fancy gun needed. Shoot directly under its gun barrel. It's not a difficult shot because people have been told "just push "w", you are almost invincible frontally", so these poor people don't even try to move their tank to spoil your shot because they believe they have no reason to fear a little T 50 and its tiny Russian 47mm right? Wrong. If you are in a Pnz. IV/70 wiggle your entire tank not just the barrel. They won't be aiming for just your gun barrel. They are aiming under it. This is probably why it isn't driven as much anymore.

@@treefittyfoh1562 I’ve never died to something so low in BR frontally in my panzer iv/70, that’s honestly pretty lucky and the vast majority of players also don’t know about that shot nor will they risk it. Usually the highest intelligence players I will run across will try to snake a shell past the transmission through the lower plate, which is pretty much the best thing to do as it’s pretty easy at close range and it’s reliable in damaging other internals (it will oftentimes just damage the crew, but it’s still the best shot you got overall). The only reason I wiggle my entire tank is because of the gun barrel, if gun barrels couldn’t be broken I wouldn’t have any care about the majority of enemy tanks.

@@callidusvulpes5556 To be honest I happened across this shot by trying to shoot a IV/70s barrel. I was shocked when my attempt resulted in a one shot the first time it happened. (I thought someone saved me) It probably is a rare shot though. I can only confirm it works with a Russian 47mm in game and have only pulled it off 2.5 times. (assist on one) I see no reason why it would not work with a 57mm but then like you said just shoot the trans. and go for the flank. I think the round is bouncing down into the upper front plate when it happens. All in all your better to just hit the flanks anyway. Russian ammo is magic (OP)when it comes to side shots and angles. I have yet to achieve the same shot in game with another nations vehicles. Like you alluded to its not a shot you want to try unless it's a last ditch effort. ( such as no engine or a dead driver and you're sitting waiting to be executed by the IV/70.) T 50 is tuff for its size. Pretty fast too. My favorite low tier scout. Puma is second. M 22 would be great too, but for some reason like the M8 Greyhound it's not a scout in game. Give the Greyhound scouting and raise its BR. Thanks for the reply.

i think people tend to pick the panther and the tiger more because of their notoriety. this is why you see so few of them.

I wish they would add gun barrel impact detection so you would have to clear obstacles (buildings, rocks, trees etc.) with them it would really weed out cheese from this game.

Even the Jagpanzer IV in 4.3 is quite nice.

It's a really good TD. I have 5.3 lineup built around this and the Nashorn.

The moment he said "I feared this" Me: Me too. If I see one right in front of me, either I'll make a long way to flank or just die to other enemy tank...

This is why US needed the m36 at 5.3 Having to shoot barrels every match was getting bored in the murica tree imho. I wanted some bs that could make my enemies cry me a beautiful river of tears. Speaking as a JP main who plays the Chi-ha LG 24/7 and hard camps with my Chi-to's and Chi-rii

@@0Turbox Much worse armor and cannon* Those are pretty important for a TD... Honestly the M36 serves as more of a glass-cannon brawling medium with it's stats. Also the HMG means nothing for BR and it shouldn't.

@@General_Griffin Means nothing? Dude. You can shoot down planes with it and can kill most of the lighter stuff at that br. Most maps are short ranged anyway and you get outflanked our just side shot or just tracked by anything in a turret less td.

It used to be that you could just sit this on the end of a street and bounce a bunch of shells and be top of the leaderboard.

Always great videos. FWIW, Shipping: Speaking as a non-US resident you may not be aware how appallingly expensive postage from the US is to the rest of the world, even at the best of times. As a rough idea, a package that might cost 2-3USD to ship to the UK from anywhere else would cost an absolute minimum of 15USD if shipped from the USA. The most effective way to reduce costs and so attract more customers is to move manufacturing and distribution abroad.

Phly, the Pz has two massive shot traps, one; if ypu bounce off downwards from the mantlet it's almost a one shot kill with explosive filler

Panzer 4/70 for frontal assault, Tiger H for urban combat, Nashorn for sniping, wirble for plane and m18 removal. My favorite loadout in the game

If your shell has at least 100mm of pen it can go through the driver sights. If your shell has 175mm of pen there's a good chance of going through the front plate.

the only tanks that can be dangerous to you at that b.r. are the british tanks w their sabbot, pt76 w its heat fs etc, if you get a higher br, then the long 90mm can go through you but only in close range, so yeah its a good tank as long as it doesnt get uptiered

Read an awesome book about a PZIV/70 commander in WW2. Eastern Front hell - non-stop combat vs. Soviet tanks and TDs and assault guns. A miracle that he and his entire crew survived the war.

This is by far my go to vehicle if I want to have an easy game.

I would like to see some persing action if that is a possibility I think that tank is a great tank

The beauty of playing sweden is you see these things with your STRV 74 and they hqve no idea you have APDS that cuts through them likr butter. Especizlly hilarious with the jadgpanther.

Hello, the Panzer IV/70 is awsome! it´s a hard target :) But, if i may. Have you tried the Swedish sniper, Pkvk m43 (1963) BR 5.0 ? . It´s one of may favorites. Because, no one knows how good it is in sniping and killing IV/70´s. Excellent optics and high pen abilites. / cheers!

The armor of this tank doesn't perform as you are presenting at the BR you're playing at, simply checking armor values ingame shows as much (you showed a 76mm shell now penning it, but the M79 shot can definitively pen it frontally -sure not with ease, but still).

I would be scared of any tank if it looked like the ones in the thumbnails of Phlys videos

Ah, "Guderian's duck". Interestingly, I believe it wasn't very popular with its crews. Haven't read about it for years so I can't remember why; might have been ergonomics and possibly vision issues especially due to gun being low to the ground and obscuring their view after firing. It does have a Panther's gun, of course, which many considered arguably the greatest German gun of WW2 all things considered.

I like to especially go into tank ab and rip around in a stuh 42g

Gaijin should look at what tanks look like when an is 2 hit it. Like tiger 2s fell apart after a shot from it. Just even if it doesn't pen the sheer amount of force behind that should would annihilate the vehicle. If it hit the transmission like it did phlys it would literally have it launched out the back of the vehicle

The reason why you may no longer see these in battle is because Gaijin tripled the repair cost.

At BR 5.3-5.7 i usually get uptiered, so instead of Panther or Tiger, i bring out this thing first. I does well in uptiers and the low silhouette guarantees some sneakiness...
