MY MINI DRAGON FAMILY IS GROWING! Red-Eyed Crocodile Skinks

Today we'll be removing Sonny and Sappy, my pet red eyed skinks (Tribolonotus gracilis) from their paludarium enclosure to perform a health check and also see how many offspring they have produced!
Hope you enjoy!

I had a really intense nodding battle against my bearded dragon. He was really pissed off that day especially when he walked away after our battle and slipped down a small platform, because I laughed at him really loud :D poor guy My wifes most unique moment with him was at the vet, he ran straight to her and tried to hide in her sleeve because he didnt like the doctor.

@Reptiliatus for the question of the day, my Pac-Man frogs digital hygrometer and thermometer’s probe suction cup fell of the glass of the exo terra, i had to put it back on the glass, and he bit me and latched on, it was pretty painful, i was able to sneak a night crawler in his mouth at the time because it was feeding day, and then he let go of my finger knowing that it wasn’t food, a day later he was perfectly fine, which was a relief!

What's interesting is the similarity of the vocalization to baby crocodiles! I don't know if any crocodile species are sympatric to the croc skink? I might guess in PNG they might be? Could be a Batesian mimicry survival trait? A potential predator associating that sound perhaps to young near a large nesting croc? Avoiding them perhaps in some instances?

My Chinese Water Dragon Rex used to always sit on my shoulder on the sofa watching TV. There was always something wonderful about coming home from a long day at work, opening his viv and him jumping out onto my should and settling there to watch TV. It was like he was saying he'd missed me lol. Sadly he passed in 2018 but my new one Hunter is following in his footstep except using my head!

I was gifted a teeny, tiny Bearded Dragon. I named her Monster. She was so small when I got her that she weighed nothing ... not even detectable in my hand. Monster grew to be a little more than 15 inches. My best memories of her was taking her to my little plot in a community, organic garden. After everyone had cooed over and petted her, I would let he loose in the plot. She would run around from plant to plant, taking a big bite out of each, until she found one she really liked. She usually decided on Mustard Greens. She would lay there in the shade of the plant and lazily snack on it from time to time. She always enjoyed an outing to the garden so she could watch the world go by. I miss her every day!

For my pet reptile interaction. I've had a Bearded Dragon, named Archimedes, for about 15 years now. When I moved into my new home and got everything set up, I decided I'd let him have a chance to move around. So first I gave him a bath to make sure he didn't track any dirt around, and hopefully would poop in the bath rather than my floor, and then after I dried him off I opened up the bathroom door so he could go out a explore. However he took a few steps out of the bathroom, looked left then right and ran right back to me amd hopped into my lap. It was such an amazing moment to see that he viewed me as a safe place when he was nervous about his new surroundings.

So the pumps often just need to have the impeller magnet pulled out and cleaned, and then the area where it's seated. Usually some grit or soil gets in there and interrupts the magnetic connection, so just washing it out and cleaning the impeller, rod, and magnet will fix it completely. You could add some filter sponge to stop some of that buildup.

Mine is with my baby kingsnake - right after feeding her I was just putting in a clean water and even though she was clearly looking for another mouse, she then proceeded to climb on my hand like "hey I feel like exploring" - for such food motivated species of a snake she seems to realize the difference between fingers and actual food

When I had fishtanks I also had African dwarf clawed frogs. The little ones that do not grow larger. They are so cute . Easy to take care of, shallow slow moving water with lots of floating plant. frozen and live foods are good for them along with small pelets that sink.I had a half dozen of them in a 10 G tank. One night in spring Late April I think) I heard some high pitched chirping coming from their tank. The three males were singing for mates. By the end of the week they had paired up and were laying and fertilizing stings of eggs on the plants and driftwood. SAdly none of the eggs got fertilized (not sure why) and I had to remove them before they fouled the water. I was told if the eggs were fertile they would have developed rapidly into wrigling tadpole inside the egg gel. Mine never grew and never moved after a week and then the gel started to dissolve, so I netter them up and put them in the trash. They never mated again but the male would sing each Cpring or during thunderstorms and low pressure system passed over head.

Great video, they look absolutly amazing and they really start to show alot more personality behind all the initial shyness, it's noticable how acclimated they have become through your interactions and care! Personally I love it when my snakes advance in obvious feeding response before realizing that I'm the smell that brings food and not the other way around, it's lovely when they get comforable and start to recognize you or atleast your presence at some level😂❤️ My tarantulas do the same when I'm refill water, but even if they are cute its not the same kind of recognition as with reptiles, amphibians or bigger animals in my experience^^

Most unique experience for me.... buying a 40 gallon terrarium and ignorantly getting a male Leo to live with my female leo because I thought all animals can use a mate/friend. Then over time, my female laid a few clutches of eggs, and 1 egg out of the 7 was fertilized. I've incubated it, hatched it, and raised a baby leo that will be 9 months old on the 29th of May 2021.

Hi! I JUST discovered you! And I have never seen this species before! How INCREDIBLY AMAZING! I have always loved animals and have a fairly deep & wide knowledge base from a long lifetime of study, but these little guys absolutely inspired me. I’m excited to check out your channel- (I subscribed 😁). You yourself have a sweet & lovely disposition & manner, & are soothing to listen to. 😇 And MAN, have I got a reptile story for ya! In the 7th grade I use to take care of a 9th grade science class’ live animals (basically reptiles and rats). Had a student’s 14 ft python strike my hand & manage to get my entire hand in her mouth the first shot- TRUE STORY- & I stood there in shock & fascination WATCHING HER swallow my arm nearly to the ELBOW before my brain kicked back in & I called the teacher to the back room. Boy, did I become an instant rockstar around school! (1st & last time, too 🙄). And, Happy Ending for the snake, too. The teacher of course wanted to kill it immediately and I absolutely refused that! I taught him how to gently kind-of lift-forward-raise ease-lift-back (into my arm again), until we managed to slowly zig-zag her off of me. NOT an easy or a quick task, & excruciatingly painful - she left a lot of big teeth & holes in my arm- but I was SO happy that it worked out & he didn’t hurt her. ALL student snakes were no longer allowed at school, but the one that ATE me did fully recover in no time, as you’d almost expect. So. That’s MY reptile story!! 😎 Loved your video, the species, your knowledge and the obvious, amazing care you provide for the life & enrichment of these beautiful animals! Well done!!👍

you could try a course sponge block 2x2x6 or so to place in front of the filter intake as a pre-filter so the silt/mud stays out of the filter. Then you can turn the filter off take the pre-filter out rinse and repeat.
