Only the K4 spec here in Ireland so had now choice. Love some of the gadgets so far the cruise control is great. Motorway limit here is 120kph so 75 miles per hour. Having done a few of these so far and sticking to limits I am more Around town I am getting 6km / 3.75m /kwh and motorway tends to drag this down to 4.8km / 3 m per kwh Weather hasn't been very cold yet. maybe 13 degrees C Appreciate this may be learning the car and my right foot. Thanks for another great video Jonathan. Really enjoy seeing how you are getting on with the e-Niro living in the Orkneys. We live in South West France and have had ours since March 2019, now on 70,000 km. This summer we have seen fully charged ranges of 540 km (334 miles) but then again it is warmer here and the terrain mostly flat or gently rolling. I agree with you that an EV with this range and efficiency makes no difference from an ICE car on long journeys...I run out of ‘puff’ long before the car does.😊...we tend to drive for 2.5 hours max (200 - 250 km) before taking a break. Last winter we did a 2,200 km round trip to Frankfurt (we have no control of where our kids live and work and when grandkids get born!)...normally we would have used the TGV but with Covid the train services weren’t reliable. The effective range dropped to about 350 km on the autoroutes/autobahns. We did an overnight stop on the way and charged for free at a hotel in Metz...coming home we stupidly tacked the entire 1,100 km (682 miles) in one go....urghh...We kept swapping over driving and stopped 5 times to charge...it took 15 hours door to door with 12 hours driving time...never again! We used mostly Ionity chargers and like you were seeing 53-54 kW initially before it ramped up to 75 kW for a short time, tailing off to 20-30 kW after 80%...The newer Hyundia/Kia offerings or something with 125 kW like the VW products would have taken 60 to 90 minutes off the journey but this is something unlikely to be repeated.

I recently chose to do a 750 mile trip in our 28kWh Ioniq over our tesla Model S 75, to see how doable it was. Absolutely not a problem. Gridserve have done a fantastic job at service stations with Wetherby being the most impressive. 20 minute stop every 100 miles is very comfortable. Got 5.4 miles/kWh compared to 3.3 I would get from the Tesla, so will be considering a swap.

Copy that on the Ioniq...or ‘wind knife’ as I believe some people call it. Our friends here in France have an early 2017 model (ex-demo), one of the first in the country...they are on 95,000 km now and are currently on a trip in what the French call ‘Le grand est’ (the big east)...we live in south west France...so Strasbourg is a long way! We average (winter/summer) 14.5 kWh/100 km (4.2 miles/kwh) in the Kia e-NIro but they get easily over 5 miles/kWh...more like 6 in the summer...the Ioniq is an efficiency champion for sure.

I must be a weakling then ! 7 hours is my maximum. I think truck drivers HAVE TO HAVE longer breaks ( by law ) to drive 640 miles ?? Just found this on the web .. Daily driving hours Within the rules of how long a lorry driver can drive for, drivers must not drive more than four and a half hours without taking a 45-minute break. Therefore, an HGV driver could start their day by driving 4.5 hours, then take a 45-minute break. After their break, they can then drive another 4.5 hours before finishing their shift. However, you can split the day up differently, and drive two hours, then take a 15-minute break, then another 2.5 hours, then a 30 min break, before finishing the shift by driving another 4.5 hours.
