    After I achieved my first 30 second handstand, I thought it's gonna take me 2 weeks tops to learn one arm. I had no idea how hard this is and how much dedication it takes until I watched a few videos 😂. Still I'm prepared to commit for a long run.

    Hey Paul, great video! did you ever experience neck pain during at any point in your journey? I was training for one arm but my right trap became overactive and had a chronic knot. Its doing better now but I'm still cautious about training handstands and its been a year now :(

  • @PaulTwyman

    @PaulTwyman

    Hey Joe, no I haven’t had any neck pain. Obviously if you have pain get checked and assessed by someone in person. Id try scapula strengthening and mobility: scapula push up, different hanging variations, pec stretching, thoracic mobility etc working on the ones you struggle with. Then make sure you tick all the two arm basics. Hope that helps

    Great video, Paul. How did you train the kick to one arm handstand ? It seems so hard and I easily overbalance or underbalance.

    Thanks! Slow eccentrics and kick to finger tip support. I always need to concentrate on the path (angle and alignment of the foot, shoulders and hand). Hope that helps

    Did you only most of the time train the technique with your dominant arm?

  • @PaulTwyman

    @PaulTwyman

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes I definitely do more reps on the stronger side. I’d like to say I train both equally but it’s much more fun to play on the strong side and then the hold times are much longer so more time under tension, so the strong side keeps getting stronger compared to the weaker one.

    Why do my hips rotate even when I do good shift with fully open shoulders? Sometimes, sometimes not..

  • @PaulTwyman

    @PaulTwyman

    2 жыл бұрын

    Fighting the rotation is part of learning to one arm. Same if you hang from a bar with one hand. You need to learn pull back into yourself/the midline. But it comes from just doing 1000’s of reps

    Hi thanks for the video 😁 Keep it up! for me it looks like that your straddle really sucked at the beginning and it still is not that great (not to be rude more in comparison to people on the same skillevel as you are🤔) and I was wondering if you think you could have progressed faster with a better straddle. Ps. I really enjoy your videos and I got my longest one arm hold today of like 4.5 s 😁

  • @PaulTwyman

    Congratulations with your one arm hold!! I know that feeling! Yes I would of definitely progressed much faster with a wider straddle. I was 37 when I started and I’m now 44 with old man hips, it’s getting better but it’s very slow
