My Japanese Apartment Tour 🇯🇵 | Living alone in Tokyo in a tiny studio 🙊

HERE WE GO EVERYONE AN APARTMENT TOUR 👏👏 Rent $$ at the end of the video 🙈
I'm HOPEFULLY going to be moving out of this place later this summer...we'll see...so I wanted to film an updated room tour before any packing or anything starts since I feel like I'll forget about it 😅
So, I think my apartment is a pretty standard size for Tokyo apartments for people my age!! I know there's a lot of videos about micro apartments and stuff but I think they're more for people college-aged or who want to live central on a budget 😅 A lot of single people in Tokyo live in a studio!! Personally, I want to move to a bit of a bigger unit though...I don't think I can afford a 1 bedroom but just a few more square meters would be nice 🥺
❤️ Please like the video, comment, and subscribe for more content about my life here in Japan in the future!! It helps me out tremendously 🥺💕

Thank you KZread algorithm for suggesting this lovely channel! I'm a Grandma from Northern Canada and love to see how young people are doing all over the world! WhenI was a young student I had a teeny tiny apartment Overtop of a bookstore. I have fond memories of those years! Your apartment is adorable. You've used every square inch, but it's not over crowded. It's fascinating to see how people around the world live!🇨🇦😊👵

Crazy how I guessed it to be JPY80,000 a month! It's a really nice size apartment, not too big but not too small either. It's too much money for me to pay as a student from Malaysia so I've settled for a room in a sharehouse just a few stations away from Ikebukuro. But I'm in the process of moving into my new apartment which will be closer to my work place so I'm excited! I really like your apartment. It’s really cute and you’ve made the most out of it. You even inspired me with your strict section idea when I redecorated my bedroom last year to fit in a small home office area. Although my apartment is much bigger, I never planned to work at home befor covid happened, and therefore didn’t have space for a working desk. But with your videos you gave me some pretty good ideas how I might rearrange my furniture that I have a working section and a sleeping section in my bedroom and it still looks good. So thanks for your inspiration and I’m looking forward to see you moving and decorating that new apartment. Are you planning for another studio or more like an one bedroom apartment? Is that even possible in Tokyo for a decent price? I hope you’ll find something you like.

Hi Allison, you apartment is bigger than mine was but you’ve got luxury too. Oooooo, love your bath tub. The nice ones are one of the luxuries of Japan that make going back home for many people who have lived in Japan tsurai, or uncomfortable. We miss the Japanese style bath (unless you are one of those super tall people who couldn’t fit in the bath). 😅 However the apartment spaces are claustrophobia inducing. Allison did great with the “zones”. One of mine was too small to do even that. The whole apartments have often been smaller than our closet back home or smaller than children’s room spaces (back home the child’s room was often smaller). As Allison said, the six mat or 22 squ meters seems or is a NORMAL average size and you can go a lot smaller. Mine were smaller, one was way smaller, as in less than half Some luxury places are bigger. It is for single people, because it is thought that single people don’t need space. The space is supposedly averaged per person for couples or families, but in reality many of us need space such as a living kitchen dining etc area and some natural light if we are to live some years and not become a sick, a nutcase,or develop other mental issues. It would also be nice to invite people over too, but Tokyo has a cafe culture or bar culture so people meet there. We don’t have our own space to create in and share with others. Of course it can be fun to join friends in a cafe and try out different places….but prices add up, so some people stop meeting friends if they can’t afford it. So there are pluses and minuses to everything and everywhere. Side note: Cleaning and mold is an issue with the lack of air flow, and cockroaches can be an issues hiding in small places and in stuff that is packed in.

I had my daughter in 2015 and I couldn't even wrap my head around how i would survive. Probably would have to work two full time jobs plus have to pay daycare in order to work those jobs, pay rent just to lay my head for a couple of hours and never get to see my daughter. I now live in Puerto Rico and it's so much easier. It's crazy to think about paying car insurance, renters insurance, etc now after living somewhere else.

OH MY GOD! Yes! Create spaces! I could never explain it properly yet I've always done that with my room to separate the desk (study/work) area from the bed area. Your brain creates two imaginary rooms just by placing furniture correctly. Also rent is not bad at all, pretty similar to prices in my country. How expensive was it to move in? (You know, all those hidden fees).

Makes me feel a bit embarrassed to think of how spoiled I was as a child. I had an 'apartment' and my bedroom was easily 6x larger than this room plus a big 'living room' area and my own bathroom. All it was missing was a kitchen tbh but 8 year olds probably shouldn't have kitchens... I like how cozy the room is. It really makes you think about the essentials and not have junk drawers everywhere.

It’s interesting about the cheap vs expensive. When I came to Japan, a USA person would have considered the 800 price in Japan for a closet “apartment” to have been extremely expensive and nonsensical. Now the prices for housing in the USA AND OTHER PLACES HAVE BECOME INCREDIBLY IMMORAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE relative to the lower pay rungs, and even middle pay rungs; it’s sad and disappointing to see. So now, the 800 price in Japan is considered cheap. It is very interesting to see that change. Anyhow, I was always impressed, despite 5inking the small space had the potential to lead to mental issues, that most people were housed in Japan, even if in a small space. The mold is a health issue Pugh.
