My Idea For The Isle's Megalania
I know most of my ideas are based around it's modern counter parts but I believe that was the best way to approach this.
I really enjoyed making this video. Kentro will probably be next when it comes to this type of formatted video.
I hope you enjoyed :)

I think Megalania should be real sneaky, and it should have basically no scent to emphasize this. It slinks through reeds, bushes, grass, whatever it can hide in, using its low profile and quiet footsteps to remain undetected until the attack. Its venom should reduce max stamina, significantly slow all sorts of regeneration (this includes making you bleed for a really long time), deal some damage over time, and highlight the target’s blood so that Megalania doesn’t lose track of its target. Meg should also have a tail whip that stuns basically any non-apex if you hit ‘em in the head, also giving them something like a flashbang or visual blur so you’ve got time to make a sneaky getaway. Also, monitor lizards are known for their tongues. Megalania should have a passive scent mechanic that can be toggled and constantly active without any drawback; this makes tracking or otherwise locating food a breeze. This has been my Ted talk ty
I think that, rather than giving it good running stamina (since monitor lizards are poor runners due to their hearts) but giving them a super good trot speed would work. All these other points are very good and could make megalania at least mostly balanced.

Actually monitors have very advanced hearts, high pressures cause the oxygenated and non oxygenated blood to not mix and basically make a three chamber heart into four chambered. For ex,l mammals have 4 chambers, crocs 3 with some kindo bridge of some sorts. Although I believe they should be better with high trot speed and ultra fast ambush on short distance(komodo dragons arent lightning fast but have huge acceleration and catch a deer before it manages to fully speed up)

it makes me upset that many people dislike the concept art, these animals are not in prehistoric times, they are in a more modern time, which means features on them can change, such as the Spinosaurus showing a more terrestrial body shape in trailers, with crocodilian plating on the body, this is a good example, as if you'll notice, most of the map is dry land, with the most water being located in rivers, which can dry up due to the procedural weather, so unlike the croc the spino doesn't need water to survive

This could very much use an update as we now know his thought on it is turning it into a now worse Cerato with a tail attack, no charged bite, and able to climb and dig up burrows
Although irl I'm not overly fond of lizard megalania aside from the apexs has to be my mom anticipated animal it just does so much and would be a blast to play out of the sheer amount of content you'd be able to have with from hunting small megalania chasing smaller dinos up trees ,burrows across water forming gangs etc it would just be a blast aside from the fact larger carnivores would just absolutely bully you larger hebis as well
I think Meg’s venom should drain health and reduce max stamina. The lost stamina should be more than what happens when you vomit. Hunger and Thirst should be unaffected.
When you were talking about swimming it gave me an idea of what to put in the game: temperature, playable can get cold at night and huddle together for warmth, semi-aquatic playables (etc deinosuchus and megalania) get colder if they stay to long in the water hence getting weaker and slower so they need to come onto land to warm up.

@@Orni-Mega-Lonyx it's a brilliant idea
Here's my take on the megalania venom. Komodo venom works as a blood-thinner, which disables the blood from clogging and healing the wound. Rather than increasing the amount of bleed meg can apply, the bleed will remain MUCH longer and healing it will be far more difficult. Meg should have a decent bleed per bite, but one bite would definitely not be enough to take down a utah let alone a teno. Depending on how much bites the meg got in, the more serious it would be. If the meg got 3 bites in or so, it would definitely be lethal. Ontop of that, giving the meg itself a good trot speed instead of a good chunk of stamina would be the way to go, since they run in short but quick bursts of speed. The meg would obviously be the bane of any small tier creature, but medium sized creatures should definitely be fearful of the meg.
That is a pretty damn good idea for megalanias being able to eat fish because it makes deinosuchus, one of the easiest Dino’s to grow right now, harder to grow because megalanias would be eating all of the fish which in theory, helps out with their populations.
@Orni-Mega-Lonyx

No it should be able to eat bones. Dude you can lookup komodos swallowing whole goats, deer, and hogs like a snake. Hooves, horns, everything is swallowed.
Megalania could possibly have an ambush attack like the deinosuchus, but instead of grabbing it just causes massive bleed or poisoning
I think that megalania could have a good swimming speed because most monitor lizards are very strong swimmers
Same @lvl5dino but, when running to be an ambusher to land that first hit and start that tracking.
I think it should work like a legacy giga, biting something faster than it, giving it loads of bleed then being able to trot it down until it dies
Another idea is that Megalania could rear up on its back legs and stand up straight, so it can slash or bite carnos in the face, and make it more viable against taller predators, like the tenos alt attacks.
@bumblingfool2211
Жыл бұрын
nah honestly i think when it's up against taller predators megalania's best bet is to flee to a nearby water source or tree if its small, and maybe if it's lucky do a tail slam before it runs away. Definetly should not able to square up against carnivores that are carno sized or larger.

@@bumblingfool2211 Well, Megalania was really big, so I think it makes sense. Also, as a giant lizard, it's not going to be that fast. And water sources aren't always nearby. If it can't fight a carno, it's going to have its health slowly whittled away until it dies or something.

As a PoT enjoyer, the megalenia can be very viable in the Isle
As someone who's worked with monitors, the tail is the biggest part of a monitor's toolbox. Swimming, hunting, climbing, and self defense. All monitors use their tails, so that'll be absolutely necessary for this animal.
@Orni-Mega-Lonyx

Working with monitors is by far one of the coolest things you could do.
i think the venom should work like this: once you get bitten with venom your maximum health(weight) and stamina will decrease overtime and your character's muscles will stiffen overtime as well (slower movement speed) and sight will gradually become more blurry until you die. same goes for the healing capabilities of your character, overtime you healing wounds or stopping bleeding out will drastically decrease. the way you die is the moment your stamina decreases to the point where you cant even run for 1 second you wouldn't even have any strength to even get up or walk or even breathe.
@Orni-Mega-Lonyx

hmmm an interesting idea
I had the exact same idea as you at the start of the video where young and speedy megs climb trees but in path of titans
land croc. Land Croc. LAND CROC.
Komodo dragons are able to kill water buffalos with their bite. Megalania is much bigger and probably will have a even stronger venom, so probably megalania will be the most venomous creature in the isle, so venomous that nothing wants to mess with it.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but venom is almost a guarantee considering we now know all monitor lizards have some kind of venom, not just Komodos. Keep up the vids fam, it seems this game has changed a bit for the better since my time.
You need to check out *Komodo Dragon saliva on meat* in KZread videos to see how devastating their bite can be. It makes a mess with blood. _As for the Megalania in The Isle._ Definitely needs the ability to climb trees that suit it's size. You won't get an adult one climbing a skinny palm tree. But some of the large ones. Probably. Also sheer rock faces too. Needs a fairly good stamina. But the ability to submerge like a Deino would be great. But not to hold it's breath like one. But some sort of venomous bite would be an advantage. One that the bitten Dino could counteract by eating some antidote, like they currently can by eating the clay/salt deposits after eating to much. However, Once bitten, that creature would leave a very obvious trail that any Meg could follow till it either died, or cured itself. Though I'd say that it's venomous bite would not work on a Deino. There is absolutely no way any Deino could get to any current clay/salt lick. Crocs, even today, have a stunning capability to ward off illness and disease. And give the Meg a lunge attack and a tail swipe to stun besties. As for it's size. Low to mid 20's in feet for it's length with a weight of around 1,800 kg
Venom should work as a better bleed, draining stamina quickly, takes down health like bleed. It really depends on how much you bite them. Megalania should be decently fast. But have really bad stamina (not deinosuchus level) just not good stamina
@Orni-Mega-Lonyx
Жыл бұрын
probably for the best
Tbf, megalania wouod have an advantage against bipedal opponents. The low profile lets them gut their prey like komodo dragons and cut of tendons in their limbs. The venom is just an extra, the shark like teeth do most of the work, there is a description of an ora ambushing a Buffalo and immediately killing it cause it chose to latch on the belly and ripped its guts open. So in theiry megalania should be able to target limbs and belly. One bite in carnos leg would take all it's nobility, while meg is coated in chainmail armor. Would be to op tho. At least that would be more realistic.
id say give it great trot speed and a slow walk and it needs an aquatic side so is has in exit rout however the deeper underwater goes the quicker you drown rather than stamina depleting super fast. And just add more AI so things in trees (Bugs/ Beetles for babies or juvies)

good ideas
I wonder is they should give it some sort of resistance to damage until it’s health it user a certain treat hold since lizards and reptiles in general are very resilient animals to pain
young megalanias being able to climb trees to escape is a good idea as most monitors also do this EDIT: megalanias can also be a common predator to baby deinosuchus
I feel titanaboa and Megla aren’t necessary for the isle and takes up more animals and more developer time. But I can see it being fun if they do them right.

Ngl I had this idea for megalania which was to give it neurotoxin venom and poor stamina. Basically you have to bite someone 3 times in order for the neurotoxin venom to fully work and than temporarily paralyze the enemy and cause them to fall to the ground. Megalania's poor stamina would work to ensure megalania needs to sneak up on its prey, and it's short stature would make this easier meaning it could blend into nearly any foiliage.
@Orni-Mega-Lonyx

I like this
Just give Megalania very high bleed damage, bleed resistance & relatively high speed & stamina. High bleed damage makes sense, their venom makes animals bleed. Bleed resistance also makes sense, they fight other Megalanias with the same venom so they need bleed resistance in real life too. High speed & stamina because Megalanias were probably chasers, high stamina for the same reason. And as for defending itself, give it either a lunge or a tail whip. Or both. I prefer the tail whip since I feel like it would be hard to imagine how a dinosaur would survive serated teeth ripping at its neck.
I’m late but it’s tail can be used as a whip I mean Komodo’s use their tails as whips
