Most YTers post half-hearted apology videos for scandals. Colin is so wholesome he’s uploading a genuine apology for misunderstanding and miscommunicating how a circuit works. You’re one of the real ones!

And not a ukelele in sight!
And this boys and girls of social media is what’s called transparency. THIS is how you know you can trust someone - owning mistakes and not being ashamed of it. Everyone in a technical profession has made mistakes and how you handle them speaks more to your quality than someone who claims never to have made any.

I mean he did have a little shame, he didn't want to mislead people. Theres definitely regret, if he didn't have either of those, I don't think he would have made a correction.
dude, you did the right thing.. not only did you fix the video you actually called yourself out. The only people who do not make mistakes are the people who do nothing. So what, you made a mistake.. you raised your hand, you corrected it.. and now you have raised your standing in my eyes. Good on you.
The question isn't whether or not we'll mess up. Inevitably, we will, at some point. The question is what we do after. This video demonstrates the integrity and standards of the channel. So, well done.
Happens to all of us.
The fact you admitted to a small error and corrected yourself is a big sign of the kind of person you are. We appreciate the transparency and we appreciate YOU 👊🏿
Whoops! We all screw up sooner or later. No big deal! Good on you for following up!
This is the kind if stuff ive always lived about your channel. You're more interested in teaching us things than you are in the raw numbers success. Catching a mistake and rectifying it while admitting it was a mistake is exactly what people who intend to educate should do, especially in an age of rampant misinformation.
As someone who also does scientific research, I love seeing this transparency and honesty! The old adage that we learn more from our mistakes than when we get it right is true in this case, at least for me: From your mistake and subsequent correction, I was now able to learn a lot more about how isolated power supply circuits work and what the job of optocouplers are in this application.
That "FUCK" was so incredibly relatable. I work in manufacturing and too often has that exact way of expressing my oopsies come up.
I admire you for this. It’s easy to ignore comments or brush them off of doubling down. You did the right thing. Big fan
The fact that you corrected it, good. The fact you made this video, legend.
The only correct reaction to own mistakes is acknowledging them, and learn from them. Well done.
Not a lot of people in your position (if anyone) would have issued this comprehensive correction video. Respect. Love the channel.
Taking responsibility for mistakes is sorely lacking in our times now. Thank you for stepping up.
Man, I love that you corrected yourself and just show a good bit of integrity and humility. Cheers to you and I look forward to many more of your videos in the future.
You said a lot of words I didn't understand, but I appreciate the humility.
I learned more from your explanation of your error then I did from the first video. Thanks for sharing!
I watched the original (I like power supplies), and I came out of it thinking the transformer you made a point of showing must have been involved in the power transfer. Admittedly, I've designed power supply circuits and circuits using opto isolation (the Zebra-Trem), so I already know an opto isolator doesn't transfer power. So, although you might have said something incorrectly in the video, I wasn't misled by it. There was enough surrounding information for me to correctly interpret what was going on. I imagine that the people to whom the mistake would have mattered (i.e. those who are interested in power supply design), would mostly be in the same boat. They either noticed the mistake and corrected it in their heads, or didn't notice, and still correctly understood the basics of the design. Good on you, Colin. Keep doing you. We love ya!
Best part of mistakes is getting a new opportunity to learn and grow from them. For my money, this fast correction has resulted in a net gain in credibility, not a loss. We're all human, give yourself some grace, have a wee glass of whiskey, and keep making awesome content!
This video just increased your credibility in my eyes. Pointing out your mistake, as well as giving a proper correction is what real science is all about. Keep up the great work!
Wrong again, Colin. Sciece DOES in fact involve a lot of mistakes! Kudos for following the scientific method all the way!
This self-correction reinforces my confidence in you, Colin. You were right to take down the faulty video. You are NO fraud! You’re a human being. Even the best can sometimes miss the obvious. How many of us have meticulously packed all of our gear for a gig…and forgot a guitar cable!
I choose to believe this is all just a ploy to get people to watch the sponsored video But seriously, appreciate being able to admit being wrong and correcting the error (and not leaving the erroneous video up).
I'm very proud of you Colin. This is the appropriate approach when an inaccuracy is made. This should be a lesson to all of us to take responsibility for mistakes and do the right thing to correct it.
Well done for putting your hand up and making the corrections.
Colin, you are an inspiration. The temperature of the internet is so spicy and eager to catch people in error, that true exploration and science often carries with it a timidness for fear of being ridiculed. For those of us that are public-facing in our creative efforts, your boldness in simply addressing the issue, making the correction, and moving forward is inspiring, and exactly what this human being thing should be all about. Thank you for your work, and for promoting curiosity in all you do.
In the next episode: Colin builds a flux capacitor to make a time traveling amplifier.

Making mistakes is not important, but the way you deal with them is. Great work, sir.
Your integrity is inspiring. Thanks for this correction, for your humility, and for all the information you provide.
Colin, don't beat yourself up. Highly respect your knowledge and enjoy watching your videos! As I mentioned before I really appreciate you opening up the power supply to talk about the topology and the components inside. Full disclosure I beta test unofficially for Caline Technologies, and they make pedal power supplies too. They had some inaccuracies in their marketing information about if their power supplies were isolated or not. I was able to correct for them and do a follow video like what you did by opening up their power supplies and talking about the technology. The video has been very successful for me and for them because it dispels any doubt on whether or not the power supplies are isolated. At the end of the day we are all learning something new that we did not know before. Thank you for your continuing efforts to the community!
A person wouldn't do such a thing... go on the internet and give out incorrect information... good on you!
Thank you for taking responsibility for your mistakes. Wish more people would do that
Colin, thank you so much for the honesty. It's not only refreshing but very welcome. Take it easy on yourself, though. No one's perfect and as you said, we all make mistakes. Hope you went for a pint after this one.
HUGE props to you for this correction Colin! Please don't beat yourself up too much, you more than made up for the mistake. Thanks for all the great videos!
Being human is one of the best things a human can do Colin. Thank you for being human.
Well done, sir. I'm one of the many who didn't catch the mistake as I don't have that background, but it takes some stones to admit a mistake to an anonymous audience. Cheers 🍻
Kudos to you, for standing in for your errors. This takes some balls, but was the right move. That way, other folks don't do that mistake.
Others have already said similar but good on you for taking accountability for your own mistake. I'm not all that concerned about the mistake but the fact that you did everything you could to correct it, speaks volumes about you. Keep up the good work.
Dude you are so cool, lots of content creators would not have the integrity to admit their mistakes let alone make a video to bring it to everyone’s attention. Badass!!!
Don't feel bad, I make about 4 idiotic mistakes everyday. From mistakes we learn to be better. Good on you for admitting your mistake publicly and quickly!
The feeling Colin expresses in this video is so unbelievably relatable to me for so many projects where I felt like I was slamming my head into a brick only to realize I'd just completely glossed over the most important piece of information in the problem. o7 Colin, I appreciate your candor and I don't imagine I'm alone in saying that this not only is not a mark on your credibility, but is actually indicative of how dedicated you are to providing credible information.
This video rules! This buys you so many integrity points with me. Way to go. We need to dispel the myth that admitting when you make a mistake is bad. Great job!👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
Love your honesty man, and to make the correction video interesting and funny is a bonus.
Well done, admitting you made a mistake in your video is refreshing humility
Thanks for your honesty and clarification on your error. Our politicians should follow your example!
As others have said, we all make mistakes. You’ve always demonstrated a commitment to presenting correct and useful information. That commitment is why we trust you, not perfection. I think I speak for all your fans when I say thank you for this video. It reaffirms my belief that you (and your channel) are an incredible resource. So in your words, keep it loud. You rock!
It's never easy to say sorry. Well done, mate.
Welll...it is easier to correct a mistake in a video than in a scientific journal. You are doing an incredible work for the sciemtific musicsians. Cheers!
That's still more honest than most gear reviews ! You messed up a technical detail, not a sales argument. We not going to buy the power adapter because they were no ... transformer. I had to look up the video to find the word ! Keep up the good work!
I respect that you wanted to address this. I wouldn't have noticed. Thank you for your videos. I learn a lot!
You sir, are a legend. I've always loved your channel because you DO know what you're talking about and you make science fun. We all make mistakes now and then, but at least you held your hand up and admitted your error. Good on you Colin, carry on the excellent work
I didn’t see the original video, I don’t understand half the science behind what you were saying, but I respect the hell out of you for admitting and owning your mistake!
Love ya, Colin. I trust someone who'll admit to their screwups more than someone who implies that they don't make them.
This is what integrity looks like. Don't beat yourself up man. You caught it, you made it right, no harm done.
Class act. Appreciate the transparency, the ability to be humble, and the info, good on you buddy!
Making mistakes is understandable… we’re human. Owning the mistake and using it to educate is why people love this channel
Great video! I correct myself every day. We develop/learn so we can make educated guesses quickly. This allow us to quickly go to the next stage. Sometimes we discover our guess was not right. We adjust by learning and then keep going. This VIV makes me respect you more. Keep the good work going!
You are a stand up guy we need more people to admit their mistakes.
Bravo! Well done. Thank you for being this way.
Love the channel even more, now! Cheers from Nashville!
Well done man, integrity and honesty is king… thank you for stepping up… keep up the great work…
Now this is top tier harm reduction. Good communication is very rare in our society even amongst people whose job it is like content creators
Aaaahhhh, Colin. This is why you're one of my favorite channels. Brilliant and humble.
Kudos to you for fessing up to this, correcting the original video and posting a separate one explaining a/ how you fecked up and b/ drawing attention to that feck up. This is one of the most reassuring things I have seen on the internet. Well done, Sir! 🧐🎩 Hat doffed. Anything else would not have been cricket, or rather should I say Camanachd (shinty). 😉😄
Respect for doing this video and going into in-depth.
Part of good science is recognizing the errors, taking responsibility for the errors and making the appropriate corrective actions. I’d say you have done excellent science! Keep it up!👍🏼
thanks collin, admittedly i did notice this in the original video but kind of filled in the gaps to get what you were trying to say, i can see how it'd confuse someone with no info about how a switch mode power supply works and i appreciate that you took the time to correct yourself and actually admit it, a lot of people would just pretend it didn't happen or try and pin a comment
Thanks Collin. Mistakes are opportunities to improve. Please be kind to yourself. Now we are learning more.
Excellent video Colin, not many people are conscientious enough to admit they are wrong in everyday life, let alone KZread. I think I can speak for most of your subscribers by saying, well done, thank you for your honesty, moving on! ;)
NIce to see someone owning up to flaws. I saw the video but I don't have the knowledge to spot this. I watch this channel to learn.
Thank you for this! Sometimes mistakes are actually good (assuming they get corrected as you have done). I now have MORE information and knowledge than I did previously. A net positive for all involved.
I appreciate the fact that you didn't leave the video up, but chose to fix it and reupload it instead.
And with this single video, you demonstrate higher integrity and value for your audience, than every single politician in the world. Or in North America, at least...
I don’t care that you messed up the explanation and was never going to watch a power supply video, but I did watch this and now trust your explanations of other things 10x more because I know you admit and correct goof-ups. Well done!
Integrity! So nice to see it alive and well on this channel 🎉❤
You’re human but this video walkthrough of the process of video making oops and how mistakes happen when we are making them with missing details trying to finish a video and get it out is what always gets us is valuable to the community. This is a good service to your fans and a kindness to yourself. We can make mistakes we can be messy in the madness of creation but we have the best intentions in what’s made and care about integrity.
And I was thinking you were talking abou your charming "pecops" pronunciation. Take it easy, man. Jokes aside, in the end you made the correct thing to do in theses cases. Mistakes can happen, and i'm glad you publicly correct yourself. Just keep on going.
Actually this is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while! Keeping it real! Thanks!
Gotta say Colin... I didn't understand a word of this. (it's not an accent problem) You were speaking the foreign language of electronics and I am not versed. I love that you corrected yourself even though I wouldn't have known the difference. Stay honest. Stay humble. This is why I know I can learn good things from your videos. Thank you for the education.
Shit happens bro, we all make mistakes when put on the spot. Owning up to it and correcting your errors publicly is a whole other kind of fortitude. Good work my friend. Even if you fall flat on your face, at least youre moving forward.
Hats off for acknowledging your mistake publicly.
A scientist doing for music as a scientist should -- accepting that they are fallible and updating the literature with corrections, and even noting the lesson to be learned in the mistake! Having been recently binging science scandal documentaries, I love to see it.
recognise our mistecs just make us better person. learn with it make us smarter. love your show.
Good on you for owning up to the mistake dude. Many wouldn't have.
I'm tossing you a couple of respect points. Getting called out, acknowledging and correcting that mistake does take more strength than most people realize, even if they tend to brush that embarrassment under the rug.
I was genuinely shocked hearing Colin say “Fuck”
It's pretty encouraging that people who have done videos about their expertise for years still sometimes get something really simple wrong. Because it's so embarrassing to get something wrong about a topic you know well, by someone who only knows it on the surface.
Sorry about the crisis I caused Colin. I just had to ask. Thanks for going over your thought processes and owning up! I've done this numerous times where I thought I understood a system under a time crunch. After talking about it and being led to something I should have picked up the first time, it became immediately apparent what I misunderstood. It always looks obvious from the other side of understanding. 5:50 No worries, I got your back. I have a physics degree as well. that's how science works! I wish everyone else did what you do when realizing their mistakes.
finally, a new addition to the memes... We had Bluetooth Hose, then the infamous Wireless Seatbelt... and now thanks to Colin, Nux has managed to invent the first ever Power Emitting Diodes.
Love the passion! Great work
Don't beat yourself up man. In the grand scheme of things it's no biggie. Brain farts happen. You recognized it and corrected it. I have a physics degree too and I'm totally in awe of your knowledge and teaching skills. As always I'm a big fan.
Brilliant apology. Takes full accountability for mistakes, yet is entertaining doing so! Onya Colin!
Handled that beautifully! Great job
I'd be more impressed if the Transformer turned into a Pick- up Truck. Rock on...
Hehehehe, this is kinda funny because I already know how SMPS work. The optos just provide the feedback signal to switching FET. :) Well played for correcting yourself. Top lad. Looks like a well made PSU too.
Appreciate yuo doing this!
