My HIV Story

This is my HIV story. I was diagnosed HIV positive in 2011 and became undetectable in 2014.
I've made this video to raise awareness, fight stigma and share my experiences of being diagnosed as HIV positive in the hope that anyone else in the same place I was 9 years ago may not see their diagnosis as the end of the world.

I was diagnosed two months ago, some people dont feel any symptoms. I went in for a infection on my right foot that was caused by a bug bite and they couldn't find an infection source. I was then told they did a hiv test and i came reactive. I can still hear the Drs voice and the feeling of emptiness in my stomach. I wanted to end my life at that moment. Im lucky to have a supportive mom and sister who i have only told but not everyone is as lucky. Thank you for your story.

I had no symptoms. I got tested because I kept hearing that the guy I had been with had it for a long time before we ever got together and he knew he had it. After I broke up with him, he was gloating that he gave it to me. Luckily word got back to me but denial is a powerful thing and I waited a year to get tested. That was a different time and I was only 19 caught somewhere between a boy and a man. The good meds had just been made available, thank God!

Great informative video for those who are newly diagnosed or engaging in risky sexual activities💕. I’m having my own HIV scare due to a finger prick at work from a dirty needle. The sharps container on my medication cart was overflowed. I am currently HIV negative it has been a little over a month since the incident. I know the chances of contracting HIV is next to nothing but it is still possible. I haven’t been thinking about it much...I will know my true results within a few months from now (the body takes months to develop antibodies to the illness) It’s too early to tell.

I can definitely relate to facing stigma from hiv. I've been poz since 2002. I was 19 then when someone intentionally infected me. I never thought I'd ever meet someone so evil. To those just finding out, you will live a long life. I've had it almost 20 years and I've been undetectable for the 18 years that I've been on meds. I just wish it wasn't such hell on dating! Not like I could accidentally give it to anyone since undetectable equals untransmittable. Wish ppl were educated about it. It's not so bad though really. Don't give up on your hopes and dreams in life and you'll live a normal life!

It's been 24hrs since I received my result, I can relate to the feelings you described, I got tested just to cover all bases, I had flu like symptoms, followed by a rash and sore throat. The rash was super itchy and thought it was scabies, when after treatment it hadn't died down I went and asked the doctor to test me for everything they could...the last thing I ever suspected was HIV, but here I am. And still have to tell my partner who is overseas for another 6 weeks...I think I'm dreading this more than all the treatment

I fear getting tested. I'm a heterosexual male and I use Japanese polyurethane condoms during my time with sw all the time. I won't have fun unless it's with a condom. I avoid sw who offer services with no condoms as well. Lately I have this irrational fear that I have contracted HIV even though the condom was intact a week ago. My risk should be minimal, I'm heterosexual so I am the insertive one and I wore a condom so my risk should be non existent but I feel different since my last encounter and I wonder if I am losing my mind and I am afraid because I can't deal with a life change and I did the best to protect myself.

I recommend that you get tested regularly especially because your lifestyle puts you at high risk due to multiple partners regardless of wearing condoms. How can you fear the results of your behaviors yet enjoy your behaviors in the heat of the moment? It's contradictory. In other words if we feel that we are adult enough to live the way we want to live, then we must also be adults in holding ourselves accountable to our patterns. Wishing much peace and good health. ❤

Yes I don't expect to win the lottery. And understand it's mathematically impossible in my lifetime. But it could still happen So surely it is still possible to transmit HIV. However unlikely And as well as spending time in the boxing clubs. I work in the building trade where I am often cut or inured. If I caught this disease. I do not believe I could lead a normal life. For the sake of those around me. And when people do hide their status as has happened in boxing. Or especially when people do choose to share things. It's a disgrace and a nasty world. Yes I understand that homophobic people have pushed us into a certain culture. So they are really to blame?
