MY HANDMADE WARDROBE | Clothing I've Made Myself + Try-Ons
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi everyone,
In this video, I'm walking you through all of the handmade pieces that I've sewn, knit, or otherwise made myself over the past year or so! I hope you enjoy.
Please let me know what other kinds of sewing & making content you'd like to see from me in the comments!
PS, At one point partway through the video someone starts a lawn mower, I tried to reduce the sound as much as possible in editing, and I'm sorry if you still find it disruptive.
Thanks for watching!

it's really cool to see someone sewing their own clothes in a time when fast fashion is really popular. i'm thinking about learning to sew my own clothes. so, beginner tips about using patterns would be helpful. you could even show the process of making a piece, from searching for a pattern you like through cutting and sewing it.

Yes, these are both on my list of videos to make! Thanks for the ideas!

Fast fashion clothing is hand made clothing. Someone hand makes it, they're just not white so nobody cares.
I am here for all the linen!! 🙌 Your handmade wardrobe is very inspiring. Everything looks great! Please make more sewing content!! 🙏

Thank you! Will do!
Good job on all your clothing makes. I have sewed clothes for myself and my kids for more than 50 years. I love to see young folks sewing and loving it.
I really like the extra bit of style you got from your elastic decisions. Both the divided elastic channels and the small “ruffle” above one channel are so cute.
Wow! Impressive! That's more sewing than I have done in my entire lifetime.

To see this kind of video maybe end of year would be nice. What you sew through 2022.
So impressive! The amount of started - and completed - projects is terrific. You seem to have a Japanese influenced aesthetic that you've adhered to in a disciplined way, which is hard to do in the candyshop that is the fabric-pattern universe. The payoff is a coherent wardrobe in terms of color palette and style. Now that you've got your covered, cozy pieces, I wonder if you as a beautiful young woman would enjoy the look of the same garment patterns treated as a translucent outer layer. In other words, could you envision some of the loose shirts and dresses made in sheer handkerchief linen or silk organza, with a coordinating opaque slip dress or camisole underneath? Black-on-black, ecru-on-ecru, blush-on-blush, pewter-on-pewter. Oh that aqua blue shade of the robe really suited. Anyway, a layered look could add more interest to the same color, and a bit of lightness and drape and arm silhouette, without giving up on the Asian influence. Just an idea. Well done. I'll be back for inspiration again some day. BTW, the handmade shoe reminded me you might like to check out a wonderful Australian blogger who executes beautiful projects from felting, knitting and dyeing to shoes, sewn underwear, clothing. Handmadebycarolyn's blog handmadebycarolyn.com.au/. She's modest, talented, and although she's busy making baby stuff for her new grandchildren now, she makes a lot of cool pieces for herself.

Thank you, I will check her blog out!
I admire your persistence to work through the mistakes and still turned out some very nice results! Everything turned out so well. I love everything! And yes, i love all the linen!
Thanks for sharing!! So many similar videos include wild patterns and colors which is nice for some pieces but I personally like more calm and neutral colors...you have to have at least a couple or else nothing will match haha so thanks for sharing your ideas and what you've tried!! Love these!!
I Love love the Fabrics-Store. I've been buying from them for years. Lovely stuff!
Thankyou for using all natural linen and Icelandic wool! The less synthetic in the world the better.

Couldn't agree more :)
Hi Em, I know you think the Everyday dress is a bit big, but I think it looks great on you. Hell, your whole wardrobe looks amazing on you. What I LOVE about this video that is now a year old is how it shows your progression and what you learned as you moved from project to project. Like you, I returned to sewing during the Pandemic. Its nice to know I wasn't the only one sewing like a mad woman. Hahaha. :) Cheers! So glad I found your channel.
I see you love linen. Even Though you are not happy with some of them they look fine to me

When I was 12 years old, our public schools had basic sewing and cooking class. I am happy to see how you are sharing how to get started sewing . Your work is beautiful. There is not one item you have shown that I would not be very happy and proud to wear!
Thank you for showing all your makes and talking about the process.I had fun listening to you while finishing an order.
So glad this was recommended to me. I’ve been looking for patterns and sources for fabrics and I love all of these. Thank you so much. Everything looks wonderful on you.
I am in awe by how fabulous your linen wardrobe is!! I love linens too but I use thrifted linen curtains, tableclothes, garments, duvet covers, and even linen scraps to make my garments.
It'simple but nice. Thanks dear.
This is amazing! Exactly what I was looking for, great discovering patterns!

I love watching videoed with instructional content! Just found your vlog, and am really enjoying them.
I sewed most of my clothes in my youth. And trying to get started again. Mostly accumulating fabric and patterns. Your white sleeveless top gave me the idea to start with something simple.
Loved it, this is actually the capsule wardrobe that I need to make. All pieces are just perfect. Thanks for sharing!
Love them all. And now I'll work more with linen

Thank you Emily for sharing your beautiful linen wardrobe. I love it! I am a Senior that likes to keep active…I’ve done quilting for a few years but now am working on a linen pant. Its my first piece getting back into sewing. ❤

@@EmilyLightly I'd love to see a video talking specifically about the different linens -- unless you have one already! I always want to work with linen more but when I go to purchase (especially online) I get overwhelmed by the kinds and weights.
I think all your projects turned out great.

Great video! I'm a long-time knitter but newish sewer who loves linen- all your garments and pattern recommendations are really great. I would love love love to see some "sew-along" type videos walking through the process of some popular linen patterns, as a newer sewer I have found these incredibly helpful. Thanks so much!
Great capsule wardrobe. A way to deal with the slightly gaping front of the off white wrap dress is to sew in a small snap to keep it from opening too much. ❤️🧵🪡
Thanks so much some really nice pieces and information.

Oh that's so good to hear! I'm planning a beginner sewing tips video soon, so hopefully that will be helpful as well :)
Love the overalls.
Great job!!!
Good job! The cardigan you knitted is beautiful. I've only ever made scarves! I'm intimidated by knitting patterns! The reason your notched color is puckered is because you have to trim that seam almost down to nothing or trim and clip down to sewing line in multiple places.
Those palisade pants are just lovely!!! i love those pockets! I have workout pants with pockets like that and i love it

I made a pattern out of newsprint from the market. I gave three dress patterns one shirt pants short and skirt all for maternity and post partum. I created lots of things on the fold. Glad to see others did the same.
