We all have setbacks starpuppy. It's ok. You'll bounce back. Edit: I didn't expect this tiny little comment to get such mixed responses, but I feel the need to clarify some things. It was never my intention to invalidate Danielle's feelings towards her hair loss. As someone who struggles with hair growth and loss themselves with 4C hair, I understand that exhaustion, exasperation, and overall pain can be felt by a setback like this. Her feelings are 110% valid and understood. I've been through it, but as someone who doesn't know her personally but has watched her from her channel's near inception until now and getting inspiration on how take care of my natural hair and facing all that comes with it, I've seen what she has allowed us to see. The damage, the hair loss, and the length checks. I always cheer her on because I see a lot of myself in her, including the bad times. So what do you say to someone in passing going on their journey, you encourage them towards the future. I'm sorry if it triggered alot of you.

@@TheStarPuppyThus happened to me years ago. 2 spots and had to wear a ponytail to hide them. I went to a dermatologist who pricked my scalp (not painful) with a needle that had a solution in it. I forget what it was. Not even a week later there was peach fuzz then in just a few months it was long enough in those spots to wear my hair out. Between trims and continued growth it became a distant memory within a year.

Losing your hair is traumatic, especially when you consider how we in the Black community are criticized by their hair. More than anything, I want you to remember that it's JUST hair. Your life is not in jeopardy and hair grows back. Even if it doesn't, you are NOT your hair. Shave it all off can be liberating. Relaxing may include releasing yourself from preoccupation with hair. It may require you to focus on other things.

@Trinity M there's a difference when you don't have a choice tho. That's like telling someone who wants to be pregnant but can't that they shouldn't place so much value in it. I wonder if it also has to do with her being her own guinea pig with hair products? Hair channels that use various products on themselves all the time to put out contact run into having issues later on. Like a product junky you can damage your hair from using so many various chemicals on it over time. And chemicals from synthetic hair too

Oh how my heart skipped a beat at that clip of your hair loss. Totally felt it when you said "a section is gone... it's just gone." 😢 I've also experienced alopecia in the top middle of my head due to a particularly stressful time in my life. Lost sooo much hair. Carrying anxiety in your body is such a real thing. That experience eventually forced me to learn how to really take care of my myself and my hair... so the rest of it doesn't fall out. I've been following your channel for a few years now, but this episode compels me to say a big 'THANK YOU, DANIELLE!!!' for helping me through the process. You've been a true blessing! ❤ Praying you'll be healthy on the inside and on the outside. 🙏🏾

I’ve always had a nice length and had been natural for 10 years.I lost my sister in 2019, then the pandemic hit and black hair stylist stopped wanting to wash hair. Rooting for you, Danielle! You've done so much for the NHM. If you want/need to pivot or even retire, that's understandable. It's well deserved. And so is your future success. Can't say I wouldn't miss you in this sphere, or that I could follow as closely with commentary (we'll see) but I, like so many, will always support you. Liking, commenting, subbing, watching the adds, and running it on loop while I sleep to increase that watch time are all ways I intend to continue to support the wonderful, beautiful, kind, and lovely woman who helped me find the beauty in more than what I was first taught was beautiful. Thank you so much!

I've always loved your approach to creating art and content and just living life. I've lost interest in a lot of natural hair content recently, so I'm actually really glad to hear that you're starting a new channel! I love a video essays, especially on nerdy topics, and I think you'd be absolutely perfect at making them. I always wondered when the other elements of your intro would come into your videos, and here they are! Proud of you for prioritizing your wellbeing and allowing yourself to branch off in. Look forward to watching both channels.

Hey Danielle 👋🏾 (hey Sam 🐕) My hair fell over the last few weeks also. The top of my head and spreading toward my hair line is scalped. I have CCCA, a type of alopecia triggered for me thru poor blood circulation, hypothyroidism, menopause and whatnot. I have decided to buzz cut my hair with no fades and feminine line ups. Why fight to maintain long hair? My stress will never go away...i own it. But my hair will no longer suffer.

oh oh. Stress was one of the reasons I chopped mine all the way off and why braids are what's convenient for me at this point in my life. My anxiety has been through the roof since last year so luckily/or not being in braids minimized my breakage but in showed up in my skin. I do not want to go through re-growing my hair from scratch again because I cannot promise I will be as gentle this time around. I am so sorry for your patches though but glad to see you back. I try not to partition my hair the same way on those rare occasions my hair is out as well because that can thin those spots out

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It’s easy to share when things are going good but sharing the lows is super hard. Thank you for being brave and showing what really happens in life. I feel like if we talked/shared when real life happens it is helpful for others to learn. Most of us are out here living without any insight on just how to do it. I could say more but no pressure for ANYTHING…take your time, be gentle with yourself and do what nourishes you.

I recently went through a similar thing (it's been a few months and I'm still working towards the tuft) and it's hard and disheartening to see that much growth that you worked so hard for just gone again. Your feelings and disappointment is beyond valid but you've gotten through it before and because you already know what works for you it shouldn't be too hard to bounce back. I believe in you!!! (Also if there's no hope for your there's no hope for me so that pls stay encouraged so we all can do the same, your videos are literally what kept me from snapping)
