I have one of these...highly recommend buying a spare Stihl battery (around $50)...they don't last very long and take over an hr to charge. One reason the Stihl is a "great price"...due to the small battery. Love it for the kind of jobs you demonstrated.

I've been eyeing this pruner for a while now, I have a decent sized property I inherited with a bunch of flower beds and stuff on it. My area of central IL is infested with invasive honeysuckle and mulberry trees. A weed whacker and machete just don't cut it. I use saws a lot to cut firewood and fell trees, usually use anything from 16' to 32' but those are all too cumbersome for trimming the brush. This looks great for what I need it for though

Bought a Stihl & a Craftsman. Stihl was more expensive but seems better built. Used the Craftsman 1st 'cuz chain slipped & froze on Stihl 1st day. Stihl has nice velcro case to store the saw & parts. Craftsman had a cheap charger but the battery lasted well on the craftsman.

Who can thumb down a saw vid? What kinda person don't like a saw? I think that would be good just for what you showed. Some home duty keep the tree limbs so you can walk under them. Shade for settin. Would be a good saw to take on an overnight camping trip. Good demo I think. The new battery's last a lot longer than they used to.

One RED led means battery to hot or too cold. One flashing green is flat batt. And 3 RED are pruner too hot btw. Even though there are only 2 wires on the motor, but the controller must keep track of current over time or something.

Thanks! I'm getting one. Can you fell large doug fir trees with it?....jk I've got many stihl chainsaws up to 70cc along with many hand saws and loppers. We live in a forested area and are constantly pruning small branches around the bottom of trees. Sure you can use hand saws or small gas chainsaws but the ability to reach in with one hand and not have to saw back and forth or use two hands to lop them off will be awesome......and that guard will come off for cutting with the top of the bar.

What Chainsaws do you use for your wood carving? Stihl 201 with a carving bar? Im thinking of either getting a Stihl 201 C-M or a Stihl 261 C-M which happens to now have a 14" light 04 guide bar.

Currently I run a Stihl msa 170 with 1/4 pitch sprocket and cannon dime bar 50 gauge , and an msa 160 with a Stihl dime bar .43 gauge those saws are for detail only . Then I a msa 200, msa 220 and ms 250 for blocking. 201 would be a nice detail saw and the 261 would be good for blocking

This tool was a big disappointment to me. To be fair it does work as depicted in this video regarding the very small sproutings off the trees, however if you notice, the video is speeded up during the cutting of the long pieces to fit in the barrel. Maybe this is because the GTA 26 takes a lot longer to cut when one end of your branch isn't anchored, especially on fresh cuts. You're better off using a lopper to save time. On very old dried-out wood it's not too bad. If you're doing any kind of extensive yard work you'll need two extra batteries to fill an hour's work and at $40 to $50 or more a pop it gets a little ridiculous. Lastly I would just say that the GTA 26 imho does not have the power you'd expect from a Stihl product, and although the general cosmetic build of the product is excellent, the performance delivery is far less than stellar. I've used very cheap china units that performed as well even though they would probably break down faster. So what's the alternative to the convenience of a 4 inch chain saw? That would be personal preference. To know, I guess you'd have to compare it to a small regular chain saw - gas or electric or...arrrrgggg battery. Also compare it to a nice small tree saw blade. Just apply a little elbow grease and get'er done!

I love mine the first to go was the stupid gaurd took that bitch off, so now i can cut with the top side of the bar. the next thing to go will be the stupid trigger lock. just like lawn mowers and gas cans they make all that safety crap for stupid people. when i was growing up we farmed and all safety garbage that was in the damn way was removed i still have all my limbs. folks this little saw does a good job if you are a city slicker leave the damn gaurd on.

Well I am a “city slicker“, new property owner, first time I’ve ever had my own backyard at age 58. I’m also a professional drummer and need all of my fingers. So I salute Stihl for the great blade guards and protective features - I understand the trigger lock is a hassle but could prevent a misfire and a stupid accident by this city slicker from the Bronx, so I’m glad it’s there.
