My Front Lever Progression(months 3-7)
I got a bit behind with uploading videos so I figured I condense them in one video. Enjoy the journey!

    Nice, keep grinding, do the raises and take easier progressions as soon as your form breaks! You'll get there! It took me 4 months, the Frontlever looks like an easy skill, never expected it to be that difficult! I started training expecting to master it in about 2 weeks, that was a bad estimate lol

    Hey, so I would suggest you do a lot of pullups and Australian pullups. Also you can specifically work on retraction with simply doing retractions at the end of your workout for extra reps. Good luck man! 💪👊

    I am also on my front lever journey, month 11. What muscle activation cues did you learn to clean up your form? Would really appreciate to hear!

  • @dan-isthenics2188

    @dan-isthenics2188

    2 жыл бұрын

    Learned about shoulder depression(very important) and correct lower back activation, you need to squeeze your lower back as hard as possible and for the retraction push your chest out as hard as you can while pushing your shoulders back(that will be max effort retraction- gravity will naturally pull it back into a neutral position so lats aren't disengaged) good luck you got this I hope I could help

    @@dan-isthenics2188 Great tips! I just started my front lever training with static tuck holds and just slight "un-tucks". I can definitely feel it in my core! More work to do as I still try to train for the planche at the same time! Great video once again because we can see how your form changes/improves with each individual clip. Even though I can't do many pull-up's, I always do back-rows and australian pull-up's, both with rings, and I always try to pull towards my waist for the main working sets. I think this really helps as the necessary muscles are likely the same.

    Thanks. I can only tell you what works for ME the most. It's slow and controlled FL raises/negatives(raise all the way up then without pause do the negative/that's one rep)...with the right activation and control of movement it's super difficult..good luck

    @@user-yo9lo9ru6b I honestly don't think I have enough experience with the FL yet but I will definitely make a video about it. But I PLAN to drop one on muscle up soon which is a super useful exercise for the FL(just like pullups)

    What did your routine look like? Best excercises and how many per session?

  • @dan-isthenics2188

    @dan-isthenics2188

    3 жыл бұрын

    I start the session with holds then get to reps. Usually do vertical and horizontal pulling(muscle ups, regular pullups, FL pullups, australian pullups, etc.) As well as Fl raises and negatives. Usually 3-4 exercises per session for 3 sets. I do this x3-4 per week. Good luck

    its weird because using the band at waist is harder for me than on my feet xD. but very nice progression 🔥

  • @dan-isthenics2188

    @dan-isthenics2188

    3 жыл бұрын

    Based on body mechanics that means you've got enough "pushing/pulling down" strength(toward your feet "shoulder depression" with straight arm) but not enough toward your waist(in my experience these and a certain amount of retraction give you the FL) Band assisted workout is very useful in all body weight exercises in my opinion. Thank you I know I'm not fully there yet but working on it. And good luck!

    @@dan-isthenics2188 Yea that makes sense, i only started to work with a band a week ago but from my experience its much more useful. up until now i only did some one leg and advanced tuck variations but as soon as started working with a band and getting to the full position my abs were sore for 2 days and felt my lower back working much more. im wondering at what level did you start at? in terms of pull ups and also how much time did you spend during a day on fl training?

  • @dan-isthenics2188

    @dan-isthenics2188

    @@taln123456 When I started with FL I could do a decent tuck for like 5 secs or so. I didn't start it until I could do about 15 pullups(wide pronated grip-later realized that wasn't even what I needed) and worked from there. At times it seemed impossible honestly..usually I spend about 45 minutes on FL workout 2-3x a week depends

  • @taln123456

    @@dan-isthenics2188 Oh wow, that's an impressive change well done. do you think a planned workout is better because usually i spend about 15 min each day just trying holds and advanced pullups mainly.

  • @dan-isthenics2188

    @dan-isthenics2188

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@taln123456 I believe dynamic exercises are very useful for the FL. Raises, negatives and definitely pay attention to time under tension. If you can only hold straddle for 3secs then go back to adv.tuck and build time with that but if you can do adv.tuck for 30secs then there's no point of doing that cause your body is used to that progression you should try something more challenging. And for pullups you have to do them right for it to help you with FL. And definitely longer than 15 mins but if so not every day.(you can do 1-2 holds per day but actual workouts I don't recommend daily/30-45mins). I suggest you watch mikail urbanik videos on it. To be honest I am no expert but he really knows what he's talking about. His vids have eng.sub on them. And thanks

    @dan-isthenics2188

    I made a lot of em..but the two biggest ones were not focusing on the technique and only doing holds. In My Opinion it's very important to focus on the technique(correct activations) and do lots of dynamic exercises to gain strength. Good luck you'll get there!
