Advice from someone who has gone through the whole incremental upgrade process -- skip a foldable rig and go straight to the aluminum profile cockpit (whenever you're ready to make that leap!). Buy once, cry once.

@@Road2Racer while the folding rig isn't the best, for what you have currently and even the Load cell upgrade for your pedals are still fine with foldable one IF YOU CAN'T dedicate a space for a proper one, but going straight to proper one is better option. After I am done with moving, and well grabbing a new wheel after selling my old one and Fanatec logistics being Fanatec Logistics, I am out of a wheel for a bit it is time to buy a proper aluminium profile rig (most likely SimLabs P1X). Another temporary option would be to buy a wheel stand, where you can bolt both the pedals and wheels in to, and then move that around.

I went with the GT Omega Apex stand. Super sturdy and can add the seat frame later. The included chair link doesn't work with my living room chair but I just strap the base of my living room chair to the stand. No probs with a load cell brake. Cool Green Day shirt!

The sim community is pretty big & gettin bigger . When the glass breaks , throw a piece of wood up there & keep rockin' . Also , a loadcell wld be a nice upgrade when you actually start racing .

Awesome video man! I just started in the hobby 6 months ago so it’s really cool seeing someone experience some of the same things I have! Definitely recommend a rig when the time is right (even a foldable). The inconsistency of my driving position between sessions drove me crazy!

Very nice video my man. Came across this channel as I agonise over buying the CSL DD bundle. Had lesser wheels in the past and then sell only to buy something again 12 months later. A fanatec always seemed out of reach but the prices are great right now, even down here in Australia. Can't wait to see more of your work and see how your own simracing journey goes.

Enjoying the videos, It's nice to watch the progression. Only thing I would do differently is to maybe focus on only one sim, or even car, until you're feeling confident in it. It's easier to translate it to other cars when you get that confidence and can find the limit better. I also agree with other people about the folding rig not being the way to go. If anything I would get a nice wheel stand and you could maybe expand in the future. and an ultrawide.

I do t even sim race but been thinking about trying and ran across you ... and dude your awsome

great videos! intros are hilarious and very well done. i also started rimracing in a regular gaming chair with wheels. it was annoying as hell that it rolled around all over the place, especially under heavy braking. i found an easy solution: a heavy rubber work mat with diamond plate pattern. got it at home depot, price was around $20. put it under the chair and it doesn't move at all.

Great video mate, looking forward to your journey in sim racing. Started sim racing as a hobby back in 2010s, and now it has become my full time job! The possibilities are endless so keep pushing and send it! Anyway, if one day you buy the load cell brake pedal, you might want to consider a 3rd party mod upgrade. The one I'm using is from Race Sim Engineering and it was worth it! The feel of the pedals after upgrade is completely different. Of course it's still inferior to the likes of Heusinkfeld pedals, but it is definitely much much much better than the default factory

this is pretty cool. glad to be sub 468. the biggest improvement in my times starting out was setting my chair height slightly lower than what i thought i needed. we arent cruising in cushy semi trucks we need good space to turn the wheel.

waiting on my CSL DD as well, first wheel, only played with a controller before. i appreciate a fellow idiot documenting what my immediate future holds. subscribed. also glass table gives me anxiety even without having a DD wheel mounted on it. make sure to capture the inevitable shattering. i love that shit.

Very funny, enjoyed that, keep them coming. My 8nm set up arrived from Fanatec today but no rig yet, possibly tomorrow. Then have to decide if I’m keeping it all hidden until Christmas Day and having it as a surprise for my 14 year old gamer son.

First off, your screen presence is awesome! Second, break the bad habit of driving with your fingers on the shifters all the time, only touch the shifters when you need to shift.

im just getting into the hobby myself. have a great PC and ALWAYS wanted a wheel but the logitec/thrustmaster stuff never did it for me and direct drive was always SOOO pricey until recently. Now you can get a nice setup for $5-700 bucks instead of thousand/s like just a few short years ago so I'm taking the plunge! I have a great shop locally so got an apt to get everything. Going to be testing out the Fanatec CSL DD , simagic alpha mini, and Moza R9 (they have a good deal on the R16 too but pretty sure that's too much for me lol) so I can pick what i like best. I CANNOT wait to have it all home and set up!!

I went with this one off Amazon: HUANUO Steel Monitor Mount Reinforcement Plate for Thin, Glass and Other Fragile Tabletop, Steel Bracket Plate Fits Most Monitor Stand C Clamp Installation I have them supporting a big ergotron arm and a Samsung G9 (~35lbs) on a glass desk, and it has worked for years, even with tilting the monitor, reposition in monitor height, etc

my dad bought the mazda mx5 because walter röhrl bought it. i tested it and its the most fun you can get for the money! its as fun in the sim as it is in RL. I love to do time attack nordschleife with that thing!

its expensive, but the nlg wheel stand has a little extension that lets you put your desk chair castors in it and it locks the seat in place... might solve your problem :)

this wheel made my day since i bought 6 monts ago, i upgrade to a simcockpit (just pedals and wheel attached) and... is more awesome!, now i have clutch pedal, manual shift, ebay handbrake... i'm getting stuck in my room, didn't see my wife on a week, just wait till i upgrade to a VR headset... i will be there forever...

I did not have issues with my original order and haven't ordered anything since. So I didn't have to deal with post blackfriday.

one small upgrade i would recomend: the moza table clamp it also supports csl dd or the clubsport dd clamp. The csl clamp isn't great

lol just got into sim racing Tried it a few years ago with ACC but I was on the ole two shoes to keep me from sliding phase. And kinda ruined it for me. Upgraded to a pedal and chair mount The kind that mounts your pedals and there’s a track to put the feet of your chair in place and after that been skydiving into sim stuff .

I put a year on a glass desk with a clamp. You’ll be fine.

Since I've never had a wheel, I'm very satisfied! I think any new owner would be happy with it. But I hear once you've been on the 5nm for a while and bump up to 8nm, you'll wish you had done it sooner.
