Yea I agree to turn on the racing guide line on Great to help with new tracks and I use it for reference points ie I would go past the racing guide line by say a car length then do my turn in if it works better. especially if there isn't a reference point on the track you can use

Unless you plan on racing with the racing line on, dont use them while learning the track either. Learn the track in the same conditions you will race it. It might take a few more laps to memorize the turns but you will actually memorize the track instead of learning to follow "painted" lines..

@@OutLanderUSN I’m actually not a big bloke. About 5”6 and slim. With this in mind, do you think it’s pointless getting 15NM? 8Nm is £300 less then 15NM at £700 and I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to handle more then 7nm , properly between 4-6nm. I’m just going by my g29 giving me arm ache. I just need to decide on 5 8 or 15NM not only this but I keep seeing horror story about Fanatec poor quality control and poor customer service. I’d be so anxious to spend so much money and possibly wait months for replacement, if faulty. It’s just stressing me out so much.

Eliminating all movement (except from the shaft) from your CSL DD is the the most effective upgrade. Doesn't matter how you achieve it, there are wheel stands and rigs, or you could tailor something specific to your space. I'd recommend a load cell brake pedal (the CSL ELITE V2'S are probably the best value) and you need to be able to stand on them without anything moving. You'll notice more fine detail, and have better car control. I'd recommend using the lightest wheel you can find, it will make the most of the CSL DD's output (at 5 or 8nm) I believe these improvements would maximise your experience and increase your enjoyment and performance on track and possibly even in the bedroom.

Dude, awesome video! I just ordered my csl dd on black friday so I'm waiting for it any day now. Also as a digital media major I loved your sequences in your video! Definitely keep those going! Something I noticed though is your table clamp on your glass desk. I'd be a little worried about it cracking or breaking. I ordered a GT Omega Apex Racing wheel stand from amazon for mine, it's height adjustable so you can lower it more than how you have it now, and if you need something to save space it folds up so you can leave everything attached and lean it behind a door or against your desk. Also it has a wheel tray so you can lock your chair wheels against it and not roll away hitting the breaks. Definitely something to look into!

Thanks for the kind words! I actually film wedding videos for a living so its cool to use the gear for my hobbies as well. I will take a look at that stand. I'm also concerned about the glass. I can say from the last 3 days of play that it feels really sturdy, but its hard to tell with glass. Could be under more pressure than i realize.

Don't have much space and the driving position makes all the difference for immersion. I got a csl dd later, it's little wobbly but still better than the table position. I like the shoe trick doe, had the same issue at time. Cheers!

Hi! CSL DD user on a table here as well. I'm not the biggest racing guy but I do it as well. My main sport on the Sim is drifting as my name also tells. I also bought the load cell brakes as well as the clutch kit and I would say the load cell brakes are really strong for a non-mounted pedal tray. Maybe it works better on a wall since my desk points into the room and maybe I have missed something that I can make it a bit lighter but for drifting I don't need it anyways. I have forgotten where I got my settings from but they are good as well and my main game is also Assetto Corsa.

I was expecting to see more FOV police comments down here, definitely check out the Sim Racing FOV video from Chris Haye. I just started racing a month ago and I started with controller and forza Motorsport. But after a couple weeks I couldn’t get more time and I also wanted to try iracing. So after much research I found I needed a wheel to be competitive. So I bought a second hand g29 and it helped tremendously but you still hit a wall with it and couldn’t get the same lap times as others. So after more research I found I needed the load cell pedals more than anything but I went ahead and ordered it all from fanatec. Supposed to be here today I can’t wait.

Are you sure that was a "Toyota whatchamacallit? It looked like a Nissan 180 or 200 or 240sx. Especially the headlights. The headlights spacing looked identical to my fisrt car, even the same color. It made me feel nostalgic. I wish gt7 had my exact model which was a 1986 Nissan 200sx xe manual 6 speed, with the digital speedometer and tachometer that i bought in 96 for $1500 and drive for 5 years.

Turn your tire noise level up really high, and then you'll be able to hear the tires squeel. In iRacing, you have to be mindful of the first lap as the tires are cold

The shoes is a good trick.. I use a bungie system that attaches to my chair and my GT Omega wheel-stand to leave a little play. Ghetto af, but it works.

Fun video. 👍 Takes me back my first wheel, which was just a Logitech G29. You've started at a very decent level. Welcome to the money pit. 😂 Well done removing the wheel in game. There's loads of advice I could give, but I think for now the first would be, move your in game camera closer to you, so you are not looking at where the wheel used to be, instead your visible dash just shows your Speedo at the base of your screen. The direct drive of the wheel on the screen that is showing, that your virtual wheel was attached to, should be out of sight, and in the position as if it is coming from the back of your actual Fanatec wheel. There's a whole universe of fov advice, but no wheel or driver arms in game, and the dash of the car on screen looking like it would if you were in the cockpit using your sim wheel, that's all you really need to fine tune and dial it in mate. If you want to ease into racing, I've a friendly group I run with, and we'd be happy to race with you online just for fun to build confidence whenever you feel ready. Good luck, and keep practicing. 👊

Congrats on the new setup, Note on the ABS/TC comment, Realize real life race cars have aids for good reason, So i would suggest sticking with the "factory" ac settings as those allow the Default factory assists to work properly when jumping in car to car.

HI, IM ABOUT TO PURCHASE ONE TOO, BUT I NEED ADVICE.... the bundle says wheel comes with qr2 ok, but on the base description says qr1. so does the wheel come with qr1 aswell and they just give the qr2 for wheel side included? but then thats no use as the qr2 base side isnt available till jan 14th... at the check out i added the qr2 base side but said can n ot be shipped untill all parts are available.. i dont know if to buy it and hope for the best but i dont see why they are giving the half of the qr2 as advertised right now. wheel comes with qr2 but that means its not ready to race as the base says qr1

I just got my CSL DD two weeks ago and it feels weird, it's like something is hitting the wheel behind, I don't know...not what I expected. I also use it on a chair with wheels so I got some sort of special rubber coasters that fit under your wheels and they are SOLID, the chair isn't going anywhere, only 6 EURO

Instant sub! I´ve been playing racing games for about 20 years now. Also upgradet to fanatec with the CSL DD and the V3s. I never enjoyed an unboxing video like this one. 😆 Keep 'em coming! PS: I also pronounce it fAnatec, not fanAtec. Their software is called FanaLab. How stupid would that sound with that weird pronounciation? 🤣
