My first week on Lexapro: Battling Anxiety

Hi friends. Today's video is a bit different. I had shared on Instagram recently that I needed to start taking anxiety medication and I was overwhelmed with support and love. So many people reached out to me curious about what it was like to be on medication because they wanted to try it, too, so I wanted to share my first week with you. I am feeling so much better and so hopeful about the positive impact this can have on my life. I hope anyone else reading this struggling with anxiety can find some peace and comfort soon, too. I'm here for you.
Update: • Anxiety Medication Upd...
I post more frequent updates on my Instagram! Follow me @hello3rdgrade :)
I have a BUNCH of highlights saved with updates on the entire journey. Look for "anxiety 1" and "anxiety 2" and then "ADHD/Bipolar" if that gives you a clue on what my next update will be LOL

Thank you thank you thank you!!💙🙏🏽 I experienced a panic attack in April and it just hyperdrived my depression and anxiety I always terribly kept inside me for years. And I couldn’t stop shaking or being on edge so I put my foot down to get mental help. I just started this Sunday June 18th and it’s been rough this first week. I accidentally skipped one day because all I did was cry and sleep. Had no motivation or energy to do anything. Day 5 I can feel my mind body slowly changing it’s so surreal. But I am still going through the depression, nausea/loss of appetite, and fatigue phase but watching you gives me so much relief for week 2 and the next weeks. Knowing what’s happening to me right now is natural and ain’t just me getting worse/or medication not working. Just temporary side effects I have to truck through til I reach the goal of the full medication kicking in. Thank you so much.

Hello Third Grade! I love your content in the classroom and now I really admire you for sharing your experience. I have taught for 26 years and then at fifty I experienced severe depression and anxiety attacks. I felt so alone and felt like a failure because no one seemed to understand what I was going through. I felt like I would never be myself again. I understood what you were going through and knew that you would be ok after the meds took effect. I am glad you shared this video because there are so many people who go through it alone. Can't wait to hear from you as you continue to teach and share. You are awesome!!

I started taking it yesterday. I took it in the morning and it made me feel so off all day yesterday. I was in a bad mood and felt really sad and had a bad night and everything last night too. I woke up feeling super nervous today and decided that I’m going to be taking it at night too. I know it’s different for everyone but I want to give it a try. I’ve been doing my best to avoid taking any medication but I tried everything I could to get rid of my anxiety and panic. It got to a point where it completely stopped me from driving. Im glad I took the first step into healing journey. & I’m so happy that I saw your video. It gives me so much hope. ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for being so real and uploading this.

I was thinking that maybe this isn't what I should be doing because I haven't been feeling so great, but your anxiety symptoms sound super similar to mine and I just feel like I need some type of relief. I am hoping and praying that this works for me like it has so far for you. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!

I’m always either feeling hopeless or anxious about something and that was NEVER who I used to be. I used to be described as funny, smiley and so happy. I want to get back to that. I hope you’re journey is still going well. Prayers and hopeful thoughts!

It is so isolating and even though my husband tries his best, I still feel so alone. I just graduated college after a career change, and I am looking for a teaching job right now. (Even if the beginning was hard, which--girl I've been there) I tried lexapro for one day last fall and it made me feel a bit nauseous, which then stressed me the hell out and made me not wanna take it ever again. I'm super impressed you were able to stick it out though, that ain't easy! This inspired me to reach back out to my therapist too--I'm one of those people who really thinks they can handle it themselves but it's pretty clear I can't hahaha. Thanks so much for sharing this with us, and best of luck on your journey! ❤
