I have watched dozens of KZreadrs do hundreds of hours of Subnautica and I really appreciated that you really delved into the PDA info... not a lot of people did so in this first hour of your video I learned a lot ! Well not really learned anything new, but saw a lot of thePDA info for the first time so this game still can surprise and intrigue me ! Keep going Symbalily !

As an old veteran, words cannot express the mixture of pleasure and horror at seeing you play for the first time, stumbling across coral, bladderfish, and cave sulfur with fortuitous timing, yet completely missing the O2 tank, swim fins, and disinfected water. I believe I felt a moment of physical pain when you built your first water locker, remembering the hours I spent using and managing them before discovering the habitat builder. Quite entertaining.

  • @bluethan806

Non-Spoilery Tips! - There are buttons that allow you to rise and sink in the water without having to always aim up or down. - On the controller it’s the triggers, though I found myself getting a bit confused since it’s opposite to the rise/fall controls from Outer Wilds, but they can be swapped in the menu! - Next steps: I’d recommend working towards building a habitat - Without spoilers, the game will begin to give you breadcrumbs the longer you play, just to suggest your next steps. In the meantime, I found the process of building a habitat helped me feel a better sense of understanding and progression while exploring and building more things along the way - Equipment such as Fins and O2 tanks don’t stack, but you can check your currently equipped items to compare with what you have or are missing - “Unstuck” is an option to move a player from being physically stuck in the environment. Only meant for emergencies - SAVE OFTEN!! It’s very easy to lose lots of progress as there is no autosave in the game (speaking from foolish experience)

Awesome start to the game! This is one game where they may be long periods later on where you feel stuck or like you’re not progressing, just remember that’s ok. You’re always learning and increasing your ability to survive. Non-spoiler tips: -Craft equipment like the fins and air tank. You have NO oxygen tank right now, you’re just holding your breath; the tank helps a lot. -Scan EVERYTHING. Much of it is just lore, but much of it is also super important for gameplay. There’s a little scanner logo on the bottom right whenever you can scan anything. -Save often. There’s no auto save and while the game has gotten much stabler, it’s still prone to crashing occasionally. -Start building a habitat as soon as you can! People, myself included, often don’t start building until much later, but trust me, living out of the life pod is like living out of your car. Doable, but not fun long term. -When in doubt, keep exploring. Progress is pretty much always made by crafting new things and reaching new places. I look forward to watching more!

Fun fact that doesn't matter much for this game in particular, but it's made by the same development team that also made Natural Selection, a series of a first-person/strategy games facing humans off against an alien species of rapidly-mutating nasties. Subnautica is set in the same universe, meaning that while you're swimming around this alien ocean, planets are being consumed by a rapidly-spreading hostile lifeform! Maybe you're better off on this planet.

The Unstuck-option is just an option that teleports you out of a situation you are in. Also: You just exploring and building things IS fun to watch. That's exactly what the game is about.

Non spoiler tips: 1: Inventory and storage can get full really quick. It's unlikely you will need all the rubber and seeds you have now and if you do you can get more easily. 2: If you haven't already use some of the rubber to make fins to swim faster and titanium for an oxygen tank to swim longer. 3: keep your food/water meters up and you won't have to carry as much food in your inventory. 4: If you find salt you can cure fish so they won't spoil when you go on long journeys. 5: Some of the corral you gathered can be used to make bleach and then turned into a really good source of water if you don't want to hurt the fish 😁 6: Titanium and Quartz are common but important resources to make a lot of things. So they're ok to drop if you have more value stuff but still worth collecting a good amount because they're used in a lot of stuff.

Yey, another game that I really like! There's a lot of inventory management and to do lists in this one, try not to get overwhelmed. Take things one step at a time and enjoy! First step would be to gather a stockpile of food and water. Then try building all the tools you need - you're off to a great start already with the scanner and the repair tool. Try scanning more, blueprints are gained from scanning equipment fragments from the wreckage. You do have blueprints for a suit, oxygen tank and fins, craft those. They will help you swim better and for longer. Explore gradually. Some areas, if they seem to hard, are probably for later, when you're better equipped. Others are just hard, period We're in for a ride! Hope it won't get too tedious for you!.

More supplies are on the ship.

I've watched dozens of KZreadrs do hundreds of hours of Subnautica and I really appreciated that you really delved into the PDA info... not a lot of people did so in this first hour of your video I learned a lot ! OK... it was all stuff I've learned already through the hundreds of hours I've watched before, but I never saw the PDA items gone into depth before so learned what was in that, which for a watcher new to Subnautica would be a real help. Cant' wait to watch you do the entire campaign... YOU"RE IN FOR A REAL TREAT !

So glad you've found this game. Non-spoiler tips: Explore, Scan, Check your PDA/Fabricator frequently to see what new tools and equipment you can produce to help you on your journey. The rest you'll work out just fine.

It's always fun to see people play this game blind. You kind of get to see how their brain works and it's interesting. Also the assumptions people make based off the UI and HUD. For instance, the O2 meter I think caused her to assume she already had an oxygen tank, which of course she doesn't. Because why would a dude on a space ship just be walking around with a dive tank on his back? He had to run to a life pod as his ship blew up and had no idea what the planet would be like when he got there. She also noted she was to slow to effectively catch fish but that never connected to making swim fins to move faster. On the other hand she found cave Sulphur very quickly compared to many others I've watched play. She places a high priority on exploration which in this game will almost certainly serve her very well. I was also quite curious to see how long before she figured out that the acid mushrooms did not in fact harm her when she picked them up the first time and that the noise was her O2 warning that just happened to go off at the exact same time. Quite amusing as soooooo many people immediately fill their inventory to the brim with them as they are usually the first collectable material you find and they don't yet know items don't stack or how many of them are useful to have around. I genuinely love seeing what people are able to figure out right away and what stumps them.

I dunno how google decided to put this in my recommended but i'm glad it did. I hope to see the rest of subnautica and other series' from you. Some non-spoiler helpfulness: Handheld tools do not wear out/take damage, But some take a replaceable battery. Items in your quick bar are not lost when you die. Handy! Glass is made using quartz which are white crystals in the sand. The stalkers hide in the kept forest but aren't overly dangerous. You can wail on a lot of critters with the knife and they will run away(or die).

As you'll no doubt learn from playing Subnautica, we're a bit of a different community than most - one of the biggest pleasures of Subnautica isn't in playing it for the first time, it's in watching someone else play it for the first time, and that's what lead me to your channel. Your going into Subnautica with little prior knowledge makes your entrance into the game a delight to watch, especially your surprise at finding out it is a story in a science fiction setting. I adore the way you sing-song Alterra when you say the word, and that is what hooked me into keeping watching you play. I know I'm coming to this three weeks after you started play, and you have likely nearly finished the game by now, if indeed you haven't already finished, but I decided to subscribe to your channel less than 10 minutes into the video because of your wonderful voice, your sense of humor, and how playful a personality you seem to have. I'm looking forward to seeing you complete this game, and will definitely be checking out your Outer Wilds videos as well.

Something about Subnautica is so captivating. I’ve watched so many people play through and experience it, and from the Subnautica community, virtually everyone loves just watching the “boring” parts of swimming around and exploring. So don’t worry because sometimes those quiet exploration moments are some of the best parts!

Subnautica is a wild ride. It has some glitches that cause the game to be harder than what it should. The most dangerous creature is in the shallows; it's not a Reaper Leviathan. Congrats! You found it without dying! You are hilarious!
