I have already downloaded Ariana Grande's new album on KZread music. This album as a whole had successfully tells me her whole story from the bottom to the top. I give 11/10. Why? Because she doesn't write too many tracks and she kept it simple so that her fans do not get bored of hearing her track songs. Last but not least masterclass.

ghostin is about her dealing with the death of her ex (mac miller) while being in a new relationship, and her struggle with accepting that he is gone/trying to adjust to being with someone else 😔

You're all wrong in here she had already broke up with Pete because she was heartbroken from the death of mac , recently she divorced Dalton gomez and apparently in the new album she said that he cheated on her , and poor girl was being hated on for something she didn't do

ghostin' isn't about missing an ex in an emotional cheating way, it's about how she's grateful to her fiance at the time (pete davidson) for trying to help her through her longtime ex-boyfriend mac miller's passing in september 2018, and how she felt bad for pete while she grieved because he knew he couldn't compare to mac

Bad Idea is basically about hooking up with someone to numb the pain of her prior break up… I believe the album is the perfect break up album, each song is a different aspect of healing after her whirlwind relationship with Pete & after Mac’s passing.

I could be wrong but I don’t see many people discussing the truth behind break up ur girlfriend. The true meaning of the song is about her telling herself to break up with Pete and focus on self love with herself. She confirms this visually too in her music video where in it she watches herself dating a guy and once she got them to breakup she chose to love herself :)

originally there was a song titled “remember” that was the last track of the album instead of BUWYG,IB, its an emotional & vulnerable slow ballad like ghostin and its about mac and how she remembers back on all the great things of their relationship and how she cant believe he’s gone. she scrapped it last minute because she thought it was too personal and wanted to end off the album with something lighthearted and fun instead its very hard to find this song though as its unreleased and gets taken down from anywhere it’s posted, but its extremely beautiful 🫶🏼

as a life-long ariana stan, you have to listen to her most recent album ‘positions’ from 2020 (specifically the deluxe edition)!!! it’s truly an underrated masterpiece and would love to hear your thoughts on it!! but honestly all of her albums are so good that you really can’t go wrong, ‘positions’ is just my personal favorite :)

in "thank u, next," these are the lyrics: Spend more time with my friends I ain't worried 'bout nothin' Plus, I met someone else We're havin' better discussions I know they say I move on too fast But this one gon' last 'Cause her name is Ari And I'm so good with that (so good with that) now when the album transitions to "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored," she is talking about self-empowerment and self-love, NOT the idea of cheating on another man, but rather herself (ie. not taking the time to learn, heal, and grow). tldr; the album as a whole is a healing album. she essentially goes from "imagine," where she discusses her fantasies, to the middle of the album, where she is telling the story of her relationships (ie. how they did not work out, the traumas, etc.. .). nearing the end of the album, with "7 rings," she is telling us her healing process. in "thank u, next," she is thanking her exes for their contribution in who she has become as a woman, no matter how good or bad those contributions may have been. and finally in "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored," like i mentioned above, she is talking about self-empowerment and self-love. in the music video of "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored," she is watching her crush and his girlfriend in the club, but she ends up hooking up with the girlfriend in the end, who happens to look exactly like her (ie. falling in love with yourself). i realized i said, "tldr" above; however, there is so much story behind this album that i needed to share it as accurately as possible. i also want to note that the whole ethan slater incident was first released by Page Six, who then later backtracked and said there is no hard evidence that ariana is the reason ethan divorced his wife.. .or in other words, these are RUMORS. ariana and her ex-husband, dalton, separated in jan/feb 2023, but did not file for divorce until sep 2023, and it was finalized in oct 2023. although there is no exact date that i could find about ethan and his ex-wife, lily, separating, they filed for divorce in jul 2023. i also could not find exactly when the divorce was finalized. i also wanna note that the lyrics in her song "yes, and?" are: Now, I'm so done with caring What you think, no, I won't hide Underneath your own projections Or change my most authentic life in the end, the public is essentially shaming both ariana and ethan because the timelines of both separations/fillings for divorce/divorce are too close to when they got together. while i ✨ sort of ✨ understand why the public is shaming them (ie. ariana being a "homewrecker"), it is purely based on RUMORS, and we do not know the exact details or timelines outside of what the media has released, nor do we know if what the media has release is factual. it ✨ seems ✨ like they got together while they were both emotionally separated from their ex-spouses, but we have not heard anything from ariana or ethan directly to confirm or deny this. to the general public: mind yo damn business! we all do things we should not do, are not proud of, or regret, etc.. .but lets not pretend like we are some goodie two shoes, like our lives are perfect, like we have never done anything wrong, and like we know everything going on. some of y'all really need to check yourself.. .and ariana said it best in "yes, and?": My tongue is sacred, I speak upon what I like Protected, sexy, discerning with my time (My time) Your energy is yours and mine is mine (It's mine, it's mine) What's mine is mine My face is sitting, I don't need no disguise (I don't need no disguise) Don't comment on my body, do not reply Your business is yours and mine is mine Why do you care so much whose d**k I ride? “imagine” is about what life could’ve been like if she was with her ex boyfriend mac miller who passed away in september 2018 “ghostin” is about her feeling guilt for grieving mac while being with pete and all his efforts to comfort her during this period “break up with your girlfriend i’m bored” isn’t about homewrecking. it’s more of a fun song they added last minute before finalizing the album

ghostin is about mac miller & pete as other comments have explained, but i haven't seen many comments explaining break up with your girlfriend, im bored. it basically is a song about her telling herself to break up and move on, and love herself, and i can see why people think that it "exposes" her intentions or character because of how the chorus sounds, but if you watch the music video, there is a girl throughout the video who looks EXACTLY like ariana grande, and at the end of the song ariana grande ends up kissing the girl INSTEAD of the boy, hence the "f* you, im loving myself" type of vibe that her and the fans are saying is behind it, so it isn't actually about cheating or scandals or anything like that. cute video though love your reactions!

Please listen to Positions, i think it’s one of her best to date and i feel like everyone pays it dust 🥺

She was grieving through this album, that is why it’s so raw. She met mac miller wen she was 19 and they broke up because he couldn’t stop abusing drugs and she couldn’t do it anymore. she found someone else, had this perfect idea in her head of that relationship and ended it and called off an engagement after I think 2 months because her ex mac had died from an overdose in his house. I think its worth mentioning that he was there through her Manchester bombing attack that killed children in Manchester, was there for her uprise to fame as an artist and to go through that with someone and just have them leave the earth and knowing you weren’t there to stop it, I can imagine that was the worst thing in the world for her. She has had a lot of trauma. Lots of love to ari ❤

GIRL! you need to dive into Ari's discography! all her albums are fantastic

That album means so much to me, I grew up with Ariana’s music and that was the first album that made me cry ever when I played tattooed heart for the first time

“Lay it all here in this bed with you” in ghostin was talking about all the pain, all the unfinished business she had with mac. When she says “he comes to visit me when i’m dreaming every now and then” she’s basically saying his ghost or his memory is haunting her, its in her dreams. Its so sad..

Ariana ended up winning, and proceeded to reference Nokia’s words as intro to the song in every performance during her tour💀

Not sure if anyone commented yet; but I’m sure bad idea is her calling over Pete and ‘wanting’ to be with him so she can try to forget and numb the pain of Mac. On top of mourning him, people were blaming her for his overdose 🫤. This was just a year after the Manchester bombing at her concert(May 2017), released Sweetener(August 17, 2018, Mac passed September 7, 2018), thus releasing TYN Feb 2019.

43:52 ghostin is about her ex mac miller passing away so she was crying about him while in a relationship with another person. bad idea i personally have no idea (pun not intended) what its about, i listened to it first when i was really young and had no idea what she was singing and to this day its difficult to know what she’s singing and realize what it’s about😭 loved the reaction, its so fun seeing other people finding about this side of her, the lyrics and instrumentals that are talked about less. also wanted to add that the tabloid that started the cheating rumors confirmed there was nothing to base it on and ethans ex wife said they were both already divorced before they got together.

Break Up With Your Girlfriend is not what everyone is leading you to think lmao. The song is about herself being in a relationship and telling herself to leave it and focus on herself and heal and really grieve cause think about it how can she really fully grieve Mac when she was feeling bad about how her grief was making Pete feel? So yea she needed to leave that relationship and that’s what the song was about and the video for it definitely proves that.

Ghostin still makes me tear up a little, gorgeous but so sad. I also think that since in my head is the next song, in she describes pretty much idealizing someone, I think that when in Ghostin she sings “I hope she was here instead, the one that is living in your head” she is not talking about some other girl, she is talking about the version of herself that her partner (Pete Davidson) fell in love with and is waiting to come back to him. All of her albums are so perfectly written and cohesive, and to think this album was made in a few weeks and mostly drunk to numb the pain from Mac’s death. That is why it feels so raw sometimes.

If you’re worried about the drama because you don’t wanna condone that don’t worry, it was confirmed that the article was lying and Lily (the ex-wife) said that she never said anything about ariana not being a girls girl and that it was all lies. So there’s literally no evidence that her and spongebob cheated on the ex wife and that the divorces weren’t for completely different reasons
