    It seems that the sweet spot for selling game books and supplements is around $50. Gamers will spend $50 per book x 2 before they will spend $75 for a single book with all the same contents combined. I'm sure they did the market research on this.

    I honestly prefer the Player Core and GM Core being two separate books, because now at least ALL GM Information is in one place. You have to remember that the Original PF2 Books still had a separate GM Book because they couldn't fit everything in the Core Rule Book, so i prefer Player and GM Stuff being in different books over Player and some GM Stuff being in one book and having the remaining GM Stuff in another book.

    Another neat thing about the Remaster books - where the 1e and original 2e ones featured the traditional chromatic dragons in the cover art (red on the CRB in both editions, blue on the 1e Gamemastery Guide, black on the 2e Gamemastery Guide, etc.), the Remaster ones instead feature the new Pathfinder-original dragons coming in Monster Core (the diabolic [unholy divine] dragon on the Player Core, and the mirage [arcane illusions-oriented] dragon for the GM Core), since those legacy dragon families are apparently going away, at least until Paizo figures out how to bring them back in a way that doesn't risk licensing issues.

    I used to be one of the complainers about three core books instead of one. Now I am on the other side of the fence, since having each Player with a copy of the rules is a great time saver. Thanks for the video!

    Another solid video. I'm cool either way, one book for all or split. As long as all the information I need is there and not too difficult to find, then I'm all for it. I don't have either of these yet, but I hope to before the end of the month.

    The character on the GM Core is one of the Runelords. I can’t remember his name but he is one of the evil runelords named in the first AP paizo created Paizo stated that the remaster was something they were considering at some point in the first and the OGL forced them to move the time line forward. Paizo also discussed why they split the core book into 2 books. Although the concept of a one and done book like the 2e Core Book it was seen by many players as being too big, and incorrectly too complicated, to learn. So the split was necessary to attract those with players. Secondly it allowed them to create more focused books and remove the confusion of player and GM rules overlapping in multiple sections of the books. I personally like the single book for 2e but believe the 2r books will be better overall.

    As much as I hate buying these books again, I do like that this makes Pathfinder feel like a different game than just Alt D&D. It was great when it started and I was NOT a fan of what 4E gave us and was all about playing D&D 3.75 instead, but now that 5E is so strong and we're looking at it evolving with One, it's better to have this as a different type of game.

    I'll never get tired of saying that if 4e had been marketed as DnD: Dads' and overtime workers' 1e it would have been a hit.

    Looks like a nice update, but not worth the price when I already have the core of PF2 and a few supplements. I will wait to see if any mechanical changes are lauded as an obvious improvement and consider implementing those though

    I know this is a weird logic decision but I'll try and break it down why people don't like the books combined: 1. Players like to flip through the book as they play, and GMs tend to do this too so it makes it so the players dont feel like its being hoarded by the gm and vice versa. 2. The size was intimidating to new players who think they need to read all of it to prepare to play. 3. Price: you know the weird sociology logic that an item listed as 24.99 sells better than the same item at 25.00? Well people are more willing to spend $30-$50 per book rather than 1 $70 book.

    I think this is a pretty good summary of why 2 books. It is a change that many people may not like (I like one book! oh and box sets!) but this makes it way more accessible and role based at the table.

  • @Drasai

    3 isn’t quite accurate. Previously everyone needed the CRB. Now, only the GM really needs all four Core books, while players only need Player Core, which has everything needed for a “balanced party”, with Player Core 2 being optional for those who want the addition ancestry and class options, similar to how the Advanced Player Guide was optional.

  • @pandasiah5264

    @pandasiah5264

    @Drasai 3 is about sociology and its been studied, not just with pathfinder in this case. When people are used to slightly expensive materials that are broken up into multiple products, they typically refuse to buy 1 more expensive product that combines the multiple even if its over all price is less.

  • @Drasai

    @Drasai

    7 ай бұрын

    @@pandasiah5264 I don’t doubt that is true, and it will apply to a few GMs. But most players (particularly new players) are actually better off with the Remaster since, unless they are also a GM, they don’t actually need all the core material. Half the Core material is only applicable to GMs, but Legacy players still purchased a significant portion of it with the old Core Rulebook. A new player can only buy the much smaller Player Core and have everything they need for months of play. They may later purchase Player Core 2, which is the equivalent of a legacy player later choosing to purchase the Advanced Player Guide.

    After the OGL situation I switched to pathfinder 2 and haven't looked back. The remaster is going to go down in history as oner of the most incredible accomplishments. Removing all SRD STUFF, restructuring some classes and spells, and printing and shipping all the books all in a short 8 months . No othet company would have been able to accomplish that. And the changes are mostly great! - The Innkeeper

    It was for sure. I do wonder if some of the ground work was already being considered. I always speculated that Paizo would eventually remove themselves from the OGL. Regardless I am loving the Remaster and can't wait for Starfinder to receive the same treatment.

    Yes, the only real downside I see in the remaster is that all my favorite classes - Sorcerer, Champion, Monk, and Oracle - are not coming out until next year. I guess I’ll have to make do with the new cleric for now, which is (to be fair) pretty awesome.

    Why don't you blame WotC for trying to shutdown Paizo and everyone else who used the OGL? Paizo used the opportunity to solve any future legal roblems and do a MEGA-errata in one swoop... That you don't have to pay a penny for as everything is for free in archives of Nethys, and there are very good free character generators

    @@tinear4agree Paladin, Monk, and Sorcerer should have been in the Players Core 1. The newer classes can go in the second players book. 4e split legacy classes in three different PHBs, and that wasn't received well.

    You don’t have to buy *any* books. The full version of the rules, including every Core option for each ancestry and class (what used to the the CRB+APG), will be on Archives of Nethys for free.
