Imposter syndrome goes both ways! I am finishing a masters degree in computer science right about now. I have dabbled in Unity from time to time and find it quite difficult. Looking at videos like this, I cannot image being able to make something this good in such a short amount of time, it is super impressive!

Super cool video! I'm blown away at how much you all were able to make in a limited time, it looks fantastic! The narrative of the video and the editing also made it feel really well put together. Also, as someone who is finishing a CS degree and tutors CS students, I can tell you that the most important skills are being able to tell what code will do (even just a few lines, just reading them and being able to tell what they do or what variables will be set to after they run) and being able to figure out and see the bigger picture of the solution you are trying to code. They are skills that tranced what programming language you learn and I've found that neither of these are able to be taught well, they just come from experience making things and coding. It sounds from the video like you use both of these skills. I'd also say most CS students don't really work on many projects outside of their classwork. Making your own projects is both super cool and a huge show of determination and skill! I guess the short of what I'm saying is (and it may or may not help the feeling of imposter syndrome) that your doing cool things that many people with or without degrees don't do, and that's neat!

Pro-Tip on collaborations: Make someone the leader-it doesn't have to be the person who wants it most, sometimes the person who _should_ be the leader is also the person who needs to step down to let someone inferior be the leader because having one is better than arguing for eighteen hours-someone who will hold the artistic vision for the game as a whole. While everyone will get a say, this leader has ULTIMATE VETO POWER, and no one is allowed to be upset (openly) with his decision. You are not here to "have fun" or "make something everyone loves!" You're here to work, you're here to make something and FINISH IT, and to do that you need a leader, not because he's better than you, but because someone simply has to be if you want smooth progress. If you, or the other guy, had been the visionary of the game, then after a couple minutes of discussion, one of you would have just said, "This is the vision I have in mind, so this is what we're going to do. Your idea conflicts too heavily with that." End of discussion, and now you're making art again. Sure, while nursing a sore ego, but the players, in the end, won't notice that the art was created while you were in a foul mood. (This is also why, historically, relationships have had a "man is the head of the household" thing, and why so many people are confused and think this means the man should be a king and his wife a servant: trust me, it's no more fun to be the leader than the follower, but someone has to be the leader. Even when dancing, someone must take the lead.)

Yo! This video was really fun to watch! Which is surprising to me, because the thumbnail currently looks really unprofessional and thrown together. I think a thumbnail that doesnt have so many random elements could work much better. For example, you could just highlight a higher res version of the cat, and have a cool screenshot on the side bout the boss or something. Also, the title should really reflect more on the fact that you are doing your first team-gamejam, because I found that to be the most interesting part of the video. Keep up the good work :)

I feel like coding might seem easier, because you can spend a whole day fixing a stupid issue (that you created) and at the end of the day it's solved, and from the outside it looks the same as good code (excepting any bugs, but it's just another day to fix them). But if you can't draw, it's much harder to just "power through" and get things "working". Obviously both things are differently hard and everyone has their biases.

I draw all the pixel art in photoshop (you could use aseprite or mspaint technically) then I bring them into godot and add lighting 2d nodes to stuff. I also use something called a canvas modulate to darken up the scenes so the lights really pop. I was thinking about doing a video on it, but it would probably just be for my patreon since I don't really do tutorials on this channel

I think a Rhythm bullet hell game like this would be a great idea. I know there are some out there but why not have more. Honestly if this ever became a full game I'd buy it. I would say that there needs to be more incentive to make you press the other keys. I mostly just spammed the same key and barely moved if ever even if I knew I was going to take damage. Maybe something more Guitar Hero/ Rock Band / Clone Hero/ YARG / Outfox styled in terms of Rhythm gameplay? Take out your bass then play what ever key or fret appears for that part of the song then move if needed, more combos more damage. Or like more RPG esk where certain attacks are better on certain bosses or enemies or like there are certain times when an attack is better on a boss or enemies like a time where the game says parry and you parry with the attack that is best or like press this key and stun them? Or how about needing to do each attack to the music? Better timing equals more damage aka more timing windows? Anyways I thought this game was great and looked great too. Awesome work.

How would you feel about making it co-op, and both players have instruments but share the same ammunition/ notes. So when you attack with note A, your combined ammo count is reduced by one until player two plays a note A. So maybe twenty notes total. It's then fun to unlock the ability to share more notes. You can include limited solos that give brief unlimited ammo. Let watch the second half of the video. The aiming and moving problem is still in the air.

I totally get what you mean about the imposter syndrome, but I'd say you are also at a huge advantage because you learned the art side of game development from the beginning which a lot of people in this genre, myself included, are going to take a long time to learn how to do this. In my mind, it's better to be different and set yourself apart from the crowd, which in turn makes better games and better content.
