I did a restoration on an old Craftsman drill press last fall. I think it came out great although the blue that I painted it is only a close match to what I think the original was. I use my Bridgeport more often, but it's nice to have something I don't have to turn on the phase converter to use.

That’s exactly why I ended up doing this. My Sipp drill press is 3 phase. If I have something very quick to do, I hate turning the phase converter on.

Great referb, would had liked to see the whole process. My shop,I have a HF 20 inch drill press, actually after bearings a better taper and a good chuck,a decent press. I have a second, generic floor drill press badged by everyone I got at auction for $3 , I put bearings and paint, in this thinking of just resell, but I put a Tapmatic and use as a dedicated tapping machine, works great for me. I make a lot of caster plates and tap the holes.made a crappy video on it. Thanks for your content!

Thanks for watching! I found a return spring mechanism for this one and I’m going to install it this weekend. It’s amazing how cheap you can pick up older machines at auction. I have noticed in the past few years that prices seem to be going up. I think since COVID there has been a little renaissance of home shops and manual machines.
