My First Chain and Sprocket w/ Motion Pro Tool - VFR800Fi

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This the first time I've ever done a chain and sprocket. This is a 2000 Honda VFR800fi. I got a Vortex chain kit with OEM sprocket sizes. I don't really feel any need to change the gearing, its perfect for me from the factory. The motionpro tool did seem to work well but it really took a lot of force to get it riveted. It would be easier if the handle was a bit longer, since I am apparently not very strong.

Just FYI, factory gearing on a gen 5 VFR is 17t for the front not 18. That tool is definitely worth the money. The cheap ones from Amazon will snap if an attempt to force the pin out was done without first using a grinder to remove the exposed flared pins flat with the side plate. And at that point, it's just quicker to cut right through the entire chain (and more fun). Also, the master link pins only need to be flared a very small amount, specs provided with the chain. It's best to use a caliper to measure the flare as to not over tighten the master link. If too tight, it can bind, kink, and ultimately lead to a failure.
