MY FIRST BOXING FIGHT... I BROKE HER NOSE!?

Ойындар

I had my first real boxing fight against @MichelleKhare last Saturday and it was insane... Michelle is one of the toughest youtubers in the world and I couldn't have chosen a more perfect opponent to test myself. This video is my reaction to watching the fight footage for the first time. Drop a like and let me know in the comments if I should continue doing influencer boxing!

Michelle trained for 12 weeks, had a 6-month break from boxing, and once the fight was set up she had another 8-week training camp. That ain't a year. Still, as someone who is an amateur boxer with over a decade of experience, I have probably never seen someone be this crisp and technically sound after such a short time. Michelle's overall athleticism definitely helped her out a lot, and, damn, her mind games were on point. There ain't many people who can hold a stare down like that.

Well. I couldn't disagree with Kevins comment any less. She never kept her right hand up in a guarded position, thats why she was open to the jab the whole fight. Her foot work was much to be desired. I boxed for years as well. We would work timed rounds doing nothing but footwork. One of the first things you learn also is to keep your guard up. Those are basic things. She looked exactly like someone who had worked two months for a celebrity fight, far from someone who had trained for years. I think Kevin was more looking to give complements other than factual breakdowns. Which I totally understand as well. Andrea could make cleaning dirty ashtrays look great.

you're a gamer. your analysis of the fight is solid and respect for being able to react to it with commentary. the nerves are definitely real like you said, for anyone who's competed in combat sports. You have a really solid base so if you continue to train and box you'll get a lot better to the level you want to. technically speaking, a lot of it came down to distance and range management, not necessarily putting combos together. like when you were stepping in with your jabs, she'd slip to the outside while closing the distance with her own jab. knowing this, you can mix up your jabs like a feint without stepping in, anticipating her trying to time your jab to come in, and then crack her as she tries to come in. Like you said, being the longer fighter. She has to bring the fight to you, and I'm sure her constant movement definitely threw you off and forced you to try to keep up with her movement, but if your gameplan and goal is centered around fighting at range where you can hit her and she can't hit you, it becomes more clear how you can manage the distance

I was impressed in general by this fight, having not followed either players journey. My takeaway is actually that If Andrea was LESS aggressive, she might have done better with NO extra training simply by counterpunching only, and picking her shots more. Sometimes LESS is better. The fact that she broke her nose means this could have been a kickass strat and Andrea would not have been as tired, hitting harder and with more accuracy could have turned the tide.

Michelle beat a bigger girl BECAUSE she put in so much hard work with a very good trainer.

Both you and Michelle took on a tough challenge with this fight! Fighting is hard enough. With cutting weight, you're super tired after... and fighting someone 20ish lbs bigger than you really sucks too. Huge props to the best fight of the event! These matches are a great way (like Tony said) to bring boxing awareness to the masses, but also a great way to bring chess and ... whatever you might call what Michelle does, LOL ("Renaissance-person-ship?") to fans of boxing and marshal arts. Losing sucks but it's also the greatest gift. Count every landed punch as a win and pat yourself on the back for all the money raised for charity because of you two! I'm sure there are lots of young girls out there too who you have inspired to be brave and try something like boxing too.

Fantastic fight Andrea! As a chess boxer myself, you showed great heart, determination and impressive stamina. One observation: You naturally fight very aggressively and squared up, which isn’t always helpful if you’re the bigger fighter. If you learn to box taller you can be more relaxed on the outside. You applied pressure really well, and Michelle was having to work hard to get off the ropes. If you’d saved some energy on the outside and clubbed her with a couple of body shots, you’d have caught up with her more often, as you did at the end of the first round. You can be extremely proud of your efforts, and hopefully we’ll see you back at Chessboxing Nation again!
