Hi Hyejin, I am here because of your post on Art History Teaching Resources. I'm looking forward to watching more of your engaging explorations into art historical content! Like you, my first encounter of an artwork came from a reproduction from an album in my parents record collection. It was Matisse's 'Dance (I)' on an album cover for Ravel's 'Bolero.'

This is so cool! Congratulations! I remember seeing a very large Alexander Calder mobile sculpture when I was 5 or 6. It was so colorful and...moving! My parents loved "art" (painting, sculpture, classical music and literature - not so much opera or ballet, except maybe The Magic Flute by Mozart). The point is that they would take use 3 kids to museums or concerts and take their time to explain what we were seeing or about to hear. It was so incredibly nice and cool. Still cherish those memories. I tried doing some of that with my own kids. Not as well as my folks, but the also loved it! Keep these amazing videos coming!! Thanks

I don’t really remember my first art work since it wasn’t until in my mid-20s I started to take an interest in art. But the most powerful art experience that I’ve ever had is when I sat in the oval rooms with Monet’s water lilies in Musee de l’orangerie. Monet’s soothing and colorful brushstrokes with natural light coming from the glass ceilings, it almost felt dreamy and surreal!

This is so brilliant! What a fun and interesting way to learn about art! My first art experience was when I was 6 years old at my piano teacher's house, where she had a framed print of Picasso's Tete de Femme. It confused and slightly scared me at first glance! I remember how it made my 6-year old brain go wild with questions. I can't wait for more episodes!!!!

너무 재미있게 잘 봤어요 제가 가장 기억에 남는 작품은 우리 막내가 어릴적 그린 고흐의 '별을 헤는 밤'입니다. 지금 그 아이는 어디에...

As a four-year-old girl I remember a set of English portraiture reproduction prints from the 1700s on my grandmother's dining room walls. One was of a dark-haired make youngster in a two-piece blue outfit complete with white stockings and shoes with buckles. It seems the title was something about "bonny prince or little boy blue..The second was an angelic blonde young girl in a white and pink dress.

Sounds like they were made after the Blue Boy and Pinkie, two British portraits now at the Huntington in Pasadena! Thank you for sharing ❤️
