My first 4.5v Lego train!

Ғылым және технология

In this haul video I got all the parts I needed to complete my 7722 4.5v train. Again a huge thanks to the viewer that sent many of the parts needed, that was a great jump start. I can't wait to build more vintage Lego trains!

Some of the 4.5 wheel bands are replacements from a factory somewhere in EU. I do not recall where that was. They are equivalent in every way, but non-lego and still legally sold on BL.

That's my first Lego train ever. I got it as a christmas gift from my late grandpa in 1987. 🥰 And of course I still have it.😊

A battery powered train? Crazy. I cannot tell the replacement bands from the old ones. It’s one of those acceptable replace my parts

Getting closer to 12v! You got the outer rail, all you need is some inner rail and a motor… 😂

I was fortunate to this set at a garage sale 6 years ago. It was almost complete minus the forks for the forklift and instructions. But I was able to put it together from all the different pictures on the original box.😊

I think the wheels at time stamp 11:25 are special wheels that the notch is used for positive drive engagement by motors in the 1960s.

Those came on the 113 train and the Samsonite gear set.

7722 is a nice little 4.5V set, I actually have that one as well. Those tiers you got look really good. I know people sell the new replacement tires, which are 3rd party. The original almost all fell apart. In case you have not figured it out yet, but the wheels with the notch cut out is supposed to be for the motor and the ones with out are for the cars. The notch messes with a slot in the motor. Not sure if all the motors used the notch or not, I know they also have the rubber bushing inside that helps hold the wheel as well. I need to get back to Discord. I have so neglected the servers I set up. I think it is great that yours has turned into such a great community for your channel.

yeah I think 7722 is a great set, I probably won't put much effort into finding other 4.5 trains unless a killer deal shows up. I think that motor had a few variations but I haven't looked into it very much

I also have this set, coincidentally also with DB stickers! It's undoubtedly one of my favourite 70s train sets. Looks like you're still missing one piece: black 1x1 cylinder for the smoke stack (goes on top of the red plates)

Oops 😅, I'll have to fix that. I'm also missing the yellow cone for the bell or whistle. It requires the older mold to sit on the vertical bar piece

NSB! Now they call themselves "VY" and it makes no sense. I use 3rd party grey rubber-bands on my 12V sets. 7722 is a neat set, I almost bought it a while back.

It certainly has charm, I think that's why I don't want to add any additional cars to it 😅

@@BatteryPoweredBricks Besides charm, those motors are not particularly strong, and the axles on the cars are fixed to the wheels, i.e. more friction!

I see you got the DB & NSB stickers on the batterybox, wich DB stands for: Deutche Bahn (German Rail) & Norske StatsBaner (Norwegian StateRails), i'm pretty sure that what it stand for, couse i'm Norwegian, so sure of NSB.

I have thought about modifying 7722 with two battery wagons in series to create 9v and using that to power the train using power functions so that it is remote control as the AAA batteries just don't do it for me.
