I literally NEVER comment on KZread, but I have to say that I loved this for two reasons, 1- you don’t need a ton of clothes to look stylish, and 2- you can find a lot of these styles second hand, which is a win for the 🌎

Ahhhh, the memories: When I was a young single working woman, I splurged on a pair of Yves St Laurent stilettos...on sale but still more than I have ever spent on a pair of shoes before or since! White satin and black lace overlay. I loved those shoes!! Then my dog chewed the satin off one of the heels. Dog. My cobbler was able to replace the heels with a black satin cover and they looked even better. I wore those to death and eventually passed them on when my lifestyle changed to stay-at-home Mom. Memories.

Not even a minute into the video and I find myself asking the question, "How could anyone NOT fall in love with Alyssa after watching this, let alone any one of her videos?" It goes without saying (yet I'll say it regardless) that your approach to the subject of slow fashion & versatility of everyday wear is comprehensive, well-considered and so, so SO inspired. Thank you for continuing the conversation; your dedication & hard work does NOT go unnoticed. You are a radiant light!!

I have startet about 8 month ago, not bying anymore clothes, just Shopping my closet, after a giant declutter, so i now only have clothes that i love. And i am not Planning on bying anything for atleast a year. I would love to bye expensive shoes to and have them for years, but it just does not work for me, i allways ruin my shoes. I do not need new ones this year so it is ok. I can not believe how much money i used to spend on clothes that i never wore or did not like. You have really inspired me. Love from Switzerland

@@kj7045 i know, that is the hard part, not bying new things, but it gets easyer the longer you stay away from the Shops. I now am in a place where i could easely bye new clothes but i dont want to, and i know that when i at onetime bye something new it is because i am getting rid off something old. I only wish i had known this years ago, i suppose it comes with age 😂😂. Wish you all the best.

Shoes are a woman 's super power. I was born on high heels 👠 I love them with unconditional love. But many women around me hate them. Simply because they don't know how to wear them. To wear pumps you need to own your womanhood and own your walk. It makes wonders to your attitude image. Lovely video, Allysa 😍

I loved seeing your shoe collection. I'm nervous to take my own inventory - some things are best unknown! But, you kept saying the "ball" of your foot when you really meant the heel. The ball of your foot is if the area you stand on when you are up on your toes.

Living in Florida, I should have a dozen sandals - but I don't! Unless I'm at the beach, I don't like having my feet open to the elements. However, I've fallen in love with sneakers since becoming a Mama and it's all thanks to lacing! I have very high arches and I never knew traditional sneaker lacing could agitate high arches feet UNTIL I came across a lacing chart on Pinterest. It's totally a thing, if anyone out there has an aversion to sneakers (think Converse) it may be due to comfort and not style! Thank you for sharing your collection, Alyssa. It warms my heart to know you can be a shoe lover and a minimalist!!

Effortlessly ELEGANT. Wow... what a great style in every area. 4:45 is the best part of course... he-he. What does that mean to "kick off" your shoes on the dancefloor? People actually take them shoes off? While outside? We don't do that... glass or just the sheer heat of the asfalt indeed, very dangerous. Them shoes stay ON! Very difficult to find one though that is easy to wear, light, comfortable and looks great too. I had one from ECCO and they were a bliss - natural salmon coloured pumps that fitted everything - but after 10 or 12 years I completely worn them out. No shoemaker could help them, they have literally fallen apart. Very sad, they were my go-to SUMMER SHOES, easy-breezy, not heavy but firm and they walked like a dream. So now, last and this summer I am 90% in my HAWAIIANAS. During the lock-up I didn't quite care but now I thought I need some human decency, need some ideas - don't get me wrong I love them but not all the time and perhaps more for vacation or the beach - .... so I ended up watching your videos. We don't really use "sportshoes" outside either, other than the gym and would like some elevation. Those flats are so uncomfortable, wedges are great, i agree but the climate is rainy so that's not that handy. Shoes are truly the most difficult to find for summer. LOVELY STYLE you have!!! I love everything but you have the perfect body too, so it's easy to pick, not to mention the thick long flowy gorgeous hair, which creates a look on its own. Beautiful stylish woman, naturally pretty, xx..

I wish I could wear high heels! I have arthritis in both big toes and bunions (thanks, Grandma). So, if the vamp is too low and cuts across the joints of my big toes, the shoes hurt! And if the heels are too high it puts too much pressure on my poor toes! That being said, if I find a pair of shoes that I like AND they feel good, I buy them no matter the cost! I pretty much keep shoes until they fall apart! Love your videos!

Surely the ball of the foot is the padded portion of the sole between the toes and the arch, underneath the heads of the metatarsal bones so I'm guessing heel placement here would be rather unusual.

Had a perfect pair of black patent pumps until I got pregnant with my daughter... Never found a pair to replace those ones. The other shoes I had were all with minimal heel height so not too bad. Love having lots of sandals just to make up for long winters. Ballet flats are cute but they fall off my narrow feet with high arches... saved $$$ that way. Hunting for loafers, mules and sling backs. Less than 50 pairs is not bad in my books. Happy Canada Day!

One in particular is my favorite, Charles Jourdan circa 1975, Art Deco wedge with wraparound long straps. I will never part with them. Every season, I buy one or two pairs of shoes to update my looks. The right pair of footwear can make or break the whole look. My favorite sandals are black patent Doc Martens I purchased last year from EBay. They are not available anywhere today

Absolute favorites...the Via Spiga multi-color mules. I have way too many pairs of shoes. My problem is, I don't wear them all but I can't seem to get rid of the ones I seldom wear...every time I look at them, I say, "Well, they still fit, they're comfortable, and they're still in good condition" and I put them back in the closet for another day. Your video made me decide to do a "blitz" and get rid of some of these unused shoes.

I’m in my mid fifties and when I think back on my older well made leather shoes that I didn’t think twice to give away over the years...well ugh. As I have purged my closet a bunch the last five years I stopped giving up my shoes. I must admit I’ve really been struggling with my shoe number but today you made me feel ok about holding on to them releasing the guilt and wearing them til they are done for. By the way I have 44 pair 😉 The oldest pair being a Joan and David brown and white brogue I’ve had since my twenties! They were a real splurge when purchased back then and I still feel so stylin’ when I wear them. Thanks for your ethics, honesty and all your helpful tips! Cheers to you and your shoes of course!

Alyssa, thank you so much for your fashion videos! They have been a really helpful place to look to as I’m reinvigorating and assessing my current wardrobe needs. I would love to know if you have any other tips for finding shoes that are actually comfortable to live and walk in. I have combination feet (wide toe box with a narrow heel) I also over-pronate so need a good amount of arch support. Either brand recommendations or any additional tips you can give about how to assess a good shoe would be amazing. I love the specifics you gave in this video and am wondering about choosing comfortable flats & flat sandals too.

About the metallic flats, you can get all of the scratches and discoloured patches repainted at any shoe repair shop. I usually buy the coloured shoe polish/cream and do it myself. The shoes look awesome afterwards, no matter what route you choose.

Hi Alyssa Really enjoyed looking at your shoe collection. My favoutites are the first 2 pairs of skinny heel pumps. Classic and elegant. The second last of strappy heels i've seen you in many times are just gorgeous and do so suit your foot. However all of your shoes and boots are so well chosen. Thankyou Bev xx

OOOH.....LOVE YOUR SHOE COLLECTION! Shoes are the punctuation point of outfits....as well as handbags. Belts, hats, jewelry, tights, gloves....all expand the wardrobe. I am not a minimalist, but I can see if one wanted to add color, edge, or just experiment with change....shoes and bags would be a way to accomplish that..and you don't grow out of them. They also have an incredible resale value...much more than clothing! I am double your age....so probably have double the number of shoes...at least! I still have my Charles Jourdan's I purchased a size too large in from my early 20's! Those were when Charles Jourdan shoes were made in France! I have a clutch from Charles Jourdan from that same time period. Lay-way in a small boutique allowed me to pick up some beautiful pieces from "emerging" designers at the time..Casherel...Armani.....Christian Joss....and one of the rare sundresses designed by Bridgitte Bardot. others. I still have many of the pieces. Because the this particular pair of Charles Jourdan shoes was too big for my feet at the time...I was a size 5 (35) and these were size 6 (36), I did not wear them often. Now, I am a size 6 1/2 and I have had to have the shoes stretched at the cobbler. I wear the more now than before!

I did this exact same exercise three years ago! And took all my sandals to the Middle East where I always spend summers with my family. But no travel this year. So I have one pair of recycled rubber flip flops to my name. Lol living in Canada boots and booties are where it’s at. For sure. I liked the chatty video.

Hello again Alyssa. I had to stop and finish your video later. Thank you for sharing your collection. My favourites in your collection are those light coloured brogues. I would hang on to these also! I’d love to find some like that. They’re so versatile and I’ll bet they’re comfortable. I also really like those tan Mokassins you wore with the denim. I used to have some similar ones in black which I wore to death. The special occasion/party sandals are gorgeous 😍.

When you said you’ve accumulated shoes over the years I was expecting a collection like mine. My oldest are 23 years old, a pair of black patent ankle boots that I often used to wear in my clubbing days. I tend to buy mid-range High Street brands, or pick up some new/hardly worn from selling sites. My footwear collection ranges from flip-flops through to over the knee boots, all in excellent/very good condition, and is somewhere in the region of 180+ pairs.

Oh, my... I chuckled when you read off your list. I have storage containers of different styles of shoes and boots. 😁❤️ Heels, unfortunately, are the one style of which I had several pairs, and now no longer due to not a comfortable style for me anymore (I'm glad that I donated to a SE Ohio non- profit thrift store before our move to Michigan. Someone who is size 10 will be very happy! Some were brand new and never worn!). 😁❤️

This party pooper says: Stilettos do catch up with your spine eventually. And so do flats; they are a guarantee for plantar fascialis. I don't go beyond 3" for dressing up and prefer kitten hills and 2 1/2 " for everyday and beyond for the feminine look. I find that platform shoes are easy on the cement.
