Ciao everyone! Since my french girl style/how to dress like a french woman video was so popular, I've decided to tackle how to dress like an Italian woman. Italian women's style is very slow fashion oriented, so I hope you enjoy these easy tips to dress with Italian style!
As always, thanks for watching!

As a creator, it's important for me to share inclusive inspiration across all cultures, body shapes, and abilities. You'll see this in my other videos as well, and as always i'm grateful for your support and encouragement! xx

I'm italian and while I admit to lack in style, I can confirm some of the points you've shared. I come from a small village in the country, and my grandparents were farmers. They were covered in mud during their job, but it was mandatory for them to dress up when going to the village, at church, or to the bar. They had good suits and they were always using them, not just on special occasions. Many years ago my grandmother went to the photographer and asked for a photo to be used on her tombstone, because "I do not want to look sad, old and ugly, I want to be remembered smiling, dressed with my beautiful floral shirt, looking as young as I can". And she was right, she has a marvellous photo, she is elegant even after death

I have to say that, even though everyone goes on about French style, I actually feel Italians are better dressers. I’m Spanish and have lived in England for years. I have been to Italy and France on holiday many times. I have never seen an Italian badly dressed. I cannot say the same for other nationalities. Once you leave the cities, people are not that well dressed in my opinion. I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying this but it is what I feel.

Well, to each your own. I used to be a model years ago and lived in Milan for a few years (I speak Italian fluently now) and also lived in Paris for 6 months, I rarely saw well dressed italian women, all kinda weird shaped clothes and messy styles. The french are by far better put together and elegant, classy and timeless. But from all europeans I think Spanish women are the best dressed. I lived in Madrid for two years and it won my heart. Such an underrated city. Great food, beautiful smiley people, sunny all year round. Spanish women are a fortunate mix of italian and french style.

All What I Love As Italian I don’t agree with you, I would probably say teenagers or women on they’re early twenties they look more casual but me for example I don’t dare to leave my house If I’m not dressed smart and my hair aren’t done, by the way Milan is a quite liberal city that’s why you see people dressing less smart and more alternative.

She then asked how many hours a day It took and i just couldn't not laugh, sorry dear but i wake up and in half an hour i'm ready, no stress at all

Ya know, although I have enjoyed the all the French woman style videos it’s about time we see some other nationalities. Italian women are definitely elegant and very confident in their looks....yes, especially shoes. My father (Italian) loved good leather Italian shoes and the apple has not fallen far from the tree. And I agree, we do not go out for anything without being properly and thoughtfully dressed. I can’t believe how many women go to the grocery store in sweats or leggings, often too tight and see through with a short top. A little effort put into your appearance makes you feel more confident and happier. Thanks as always....YOU LOOK GREAT!

I'm use to putting effort in whenever going out too... Including basic makeup cause otherwise my eye lashes are barely visible and my face is often bright pink. Unfortunately, I pressure myself too much to look decent when going out... I often put things off or skip things cause I don't have the time or energy to look better (I do have some serious health problems so idk if it feels like so much work to others) . The few times when I have no choice but to go out without makeup and/or in less flattering clothes (had to live in sweatpants after a hip surgery for quite awhile), I'm at least grateful it's mostly socially acceptable to look frumpy for short errands.

Wow I love watching videos of how women dress in other countries. I'm from the UK but definitely don't dress like from the UK. I'm much more French/Italian in style. Unfortunately when you live in an environment where a lot of people are sloppy and ultra casual in their dress sense, you're instantly overdressed already if you dress how I do lol. But I refuse to reduce the elegance, and don't have a care in the world if I stand out, if anything I'm just happy to inspire those around me. I think the Italians have it spot on with looking good even just for small things, I can totally relate to that and I think it should be done a lot more. Thanks for making such an awesome video, I look forward to seeing more.

I know what you're talking about! I've noticed the same thing here where I live (Boston suburb)... Women in my town dress very sloppily - leggings/jeans + a sweatshirt, rain boots/duck boots, a baseball cap, and a Sherpa jacket from North Face or a long Puffer and all in the same washed out tones of grey or black... I mean, I don't mind them dressing like that, but when you show up in a dress with shiny ankle booties and a tailored jacket, with your hair done and makeup on - you are a weirdo... But if you get to Boston downtown, it's a whole different story....people go to work there, so they dress to show off, to stand out...

Hey, italian here! I absolutely agree with (almost) everything you Say, except the heels! I invest in good quality shoes, but they are always flat, and I think that most women (especially in younger generations) are more interested in being able to walk comfortably rather than in showing off some crazy heel. Moreover, in general, we also avoid too-sporty outfits: if One goes outside the house, One must be presentable (even for just going to the supermarket). I think there are also big differences between the style of northern and southern women: I am from Milan, and I do believe that my style is more minimal and classic (almost french) with respect to the trends from southern italians. Anyway, nice video!

Italians in northern Italy from what I am told are crazy tall and are atleast as tall if not slightly taller than the Dutch and the Scandinavians from what many people tell myself so Italian women and high heels aren't that important. Here in the USA we get the impression that most Italians are mostly average in height when compared to other Europeans with the Sicilians slightly shorter than most Europeans on average and Sicilian Italians are a significant percentage of the Italian American population. But people that have visited Sicily have said that Sicilians are taller on average than the Sicilian Italian Americans and aren't shorter on average when compared to other Europeans but atleast average if not slightly taller than average when compared to most Europeans. Sicilian Italian Americans as have most Americans from wherever in Europe that they have ancestry from have grown more horizontally than vertically with obesity being a major factor with many Americans these days.

Ciao Alyssa! Thank you for doing honor to Italian style. My beautiful Italian mother and elegant grandfather (who was a tailor) drilled the concept of 'bella figura' into me from a very young age so, yes, I dress to run errands and present the best of myself to the world and to myself. I lol when you said rules have never applied to Italians :). Would love to see another video on Italian style. Baci.

Thank you for this video, it was great fun to watch. Even though I was born in America, I am 100% Italian and I have been to Italy about half a dozen times. What I noticed about Italian women are how professional they look in the cities, well tailored suits and great heels. I once worked in Milan for a month and so I noticed a lot of professionally dressed women there. Sometimes, I cringe when I see Americans from the South wearing their Daisy Dukes to Capri and I think, Oh No, do not wear that to Sorrento it only makes you look cheap in Italy. But I never actually tell the Instagrammers that, I just shake my head and let them find out for themselves. Thanks again, sweetie, love you in all those outfits!

Hello Alyssa, I soooo enjoyed this video - I first went to Italy almost 20 years ago (have returned at least once during that time) - pieces I purchased in that time are still in rotation now (eg. red satin evening sling backs) - I always read Italian and French fashion magazines, this most closely reflects my personal style - I love colour and often use it as a pop or accent but I can also be found in head to toe red when the mood strikes- Cheers and Happy 2020!

Wonderful video! Twenty years ago I spent a week in Turin. I'd taken a very plain but we'll-made pair of black sandals. Everyone would look me up and down then frown as they got to my shoes, and look me in the eye as though to ask why - including grandmas! After a couple of days of this I popped into a shoe store and bought the last pair of grey & taupe snake skin low-heeled mules. I put the sandals in the box and wore the miles out of the store. The sales lady gave me a a big smile. I wore them the remainder of the week with no blisters. From then on everyone I passed gave me little nods of approval. Twenty years later I still have them and wear them sparingly, but they're in great shape. Buy Italian!

And, for as little as I've really known about Italian fashion, it's always struck me as classic, classy and quality; your video confirmed that :D. I could see the care and pride she took in styling her outfits. Unfortunately, that pride is not always taken where I reside. It's time to go back to basics, slow fashion, and pride in what we look like. Thanks again and I got some more great style ideas. P.S. Wonderful, Alyssa! Awesome content 😀! This must be one of my favorite videos because these style techniques (i.e. emphasis on the waistline, silhouette, or wearing pencil skirts with an eye-catching belt) are applicable to a very petite woman, such as me! (I'm 4'11"and 95 pounds). I usually wear high-waisted pencil skirts to elongate me. :D I also love your videos that talk about culture! It's great to be inspired by the mindsets of other cultures, especially when you share from your own heritage. I love these Italian styles! Thanks! :-)
