I love this! Starting PACU soon! People are telling me that I’m going to be losing my skills as a floor nurse. But I love your answers as I’ll still be using critical thinking and attending to the patients. I love the education and patient teaching aspect too. Thank you so much for the motivation.

If you're nervous about losing certain skills, you can always pick up a PRN position! But in a busy inpatient PACU there's definitely a lot of critical thinking going on! It just depends on what kind of setting you're in and your career goals! I have no regrets about going to PACU

I'm glad this video was able to help you! 😊
Thank you for the insight it was very helpful and appreciated.
This entire video just described exactly how I am feeling. I have been imcu for 8 years and tired! I’m also an FNP student! I’m no longer on the fence about my decision.

Girl I did IMC too and PACU is much better for me especially as an FNP student!
Very informative with all the nuances of PACU vs med-surg!
Great video thank you! I have a PACU interview in the morning, and this has been super reassuring

Awesome! Good luck! 😊
Thank you for this! I’ve been an ICU nurse for 3 years, currently Neuro ICU and I just applied to a PRN PACU position. Hoping to eventually transfer to the PACU full time. Your video is very encouraging especially considering the last two weeks of high volume code browns I’ve been dealing with…literally every two hours on both my patients! 🤦🏽♀️
great video very helpful:) thankyou
Omg I love everything thing about your video. I am starting PACU from tomorrow and I am so excited to learn so many new skills 👏

Welcome to the PACU life! It's been my favorite nursing specialty so far :)
This is great! I just got hired in PACU and never did any floor work. I’m from ER, so this unit is brand new to me. Can you make a video about what types of procedures we should expect in the main PACU, what to look for, and know about for those procedures? Thank you so much! 😊

Congrats!! One of my classmates just transitioned from the ER to PACU as well! There are a TON of PACU procedures that you could potentially see, but I'll brainstorm so video ideas! Good luck!!
Thank you❤
RN here. Best job!
thanks for this video. I'm a IMC nurse and I want to transfer to PACU nursing.
Hi! Loved this video! I’m a dialysis nurse looking to transition. I have been thinking about PACU. What advice would you give for me having only dialysis experience as a nurse going into PACU?
Im currently in my MA program and already have my heart set on this! I know it’s far reached but what do you suggest to get to that as my goal?🩷love your vids btw thank you love
im finishing up 1st semester senior year and have to pick my 3 choices for senior synthesis. I was thinking ICU, ER, OR. My OR experience (1day outpatient) was intraop and was so incredibly boring, i just stood there for 2 hours and didnt learn anything. Id like to use my skills during my final semester. Do you think thats possible in the OR? whats are your thoughts?also what do you think about PCU?
Do I have to do RN first before I can be a PACU nurse
How many hours weekly do you average?
Is there a pediatric pacu ?
Awww man, Pacu isn’t 12s?
can you do only nights in PACU? thanks

It depends on how big the PACU is but there are definitely inpatient PACUs with night shift options

Frustration is a very positive sign. It means that the solution to your problem is within range, but what you're currently doing isn't working, and you need to change your approach in order to achieve your goal.

Hi, is it a big difference than Med-SURG?
@InMyLayne
Жыл бұрын
Yes, PACU is very different than Med-Surg but a lot of your med-surg skills can transfer over! PACU focuses more on recovering patients after surgery, managing their initial pain/nausea, and helping them transition back to their inpatient unit or for discharge

1:19 PACU is critical care nursing. Drips, vented patients, lines that you most likely won’t encounter on Med-Surg units.
Do you have to have ICU experience to transfer to the PACU?
@InMyLayne
Жыл бұрын
I did not! When I started in PACU I only had IMC experience (which definitely helped) but I got trained for critical care when I oriented to inpatient PACU
