very interesting chess variant, hopefully they make it on classical format or at the very least long rapid, given how complicated some of the positions are

This format resembles checkers. When I met some of the top US checker players in the sixties, they told me checker tournaments used openings selected randomly. Checker openings were more figured out than chess.

I love the idea. I played many of the masters' old games from a book I can no longer find, with Tal becoming my favorite.

Seeing all of the comments from Moroccans is heartwarming. Hikaru is a great ambassador for Chess, and it's possible that if there was some way to objectively measure how much each individual person has done to popularize the game of Chess, he might be up there in the top 5 ever (that 2.3 million subscribers number at the time of this writing is mind-boggling compared to what anyone would have thought possible just a decade ago.)
