I completely agree about overhyped books! It's a rare hyped book that actually lives up to my expectations.

I now have a rather long list of books to explore! (In addition to my already long TBR 😂)

How fun to see a couple Owl’s Nest books on your list!! 🥰 I’ll never forget our buddy read of Each Little Bird that Sings, so I can’t wait to read Ruby Lavender! Also Walking with Miss Millie! A multigenerational friendship story is bookish catnip for me!

Having a reat in bed day, watched this video and then watched The Lady Vanishes. It was good!

What a wonderful reading year Kate! I really should read more Carol Ryrie Brink. I remember loving Caddie Woodlawn as a child. And I'm so glad Crispin was on this list too! It's another one I absolutely adored as a kid, but I don't think I ever read anything else by Avi. I hope you have another fantastic reading year in 2024! ❤

She really is wonderful! I've been delighted how she has a number of wonderful books and not just one....I really want to read the sequel to Crispin after enjoying the first one so much!

I loved MV Hughes A Child of the 1870s! I read it a few decades back and forgot my copy since moving. I must search some boxes.

Thanks for steering me to Island of the Horses. We have some dear friends who were jockeys and now horse trainers here in Ireland. They have two young children and I give them a couple of classics a year to build up their library. They already love being read to. I was able to get the same hardcover you have and it’s beautiful. The author was the niece of Joseph Plunkett who was married in Kilmainham Gaol the night before he was executed for his involvement in The Easter Rising in 1916. There’s a song about it called Grace recently released by Rod Stewart.

What a cool connection to this book! So glad you are giving it to the next generation. I'm so grateful to have randomly stumbled on it at a thrift store a few years ago.

I want to read so many of these. I have just bought the first Inspector Lynley book so it's nice to hear they are all great.

I added several of these to my TBR.

Oh my goodness Kate you did again!! My TBR just grew by piles lol!! I was so excited to hear Winter cottage is back in print!! I immediately ordered it!! Have you read The seven Wonders of Cases free Springs by Betty Birney? I think you would love it! Another one I think the boys would love is Leeva at Last by Sarah Pennypacker? Its kind of a Matilda story but the parents are WORSE!! I got Magyk and book 2 because I am sure I am going to love it!!!

Well since i have a t-shirt AND sweatshirt with Stevenson' name on it 😜 i think I'll add The English Air to be official. I'm saving this video to go back through it later.

I love the idea of separating your Victorian books from your favorites. I experienced some Thing similar this year when Emma and Pickwick Papers are were my top two reads - seemed a bit unfair to the other 5 star reads to compare them.
