My Favorite Books of 2019!
MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF 2019
Hello! It's that time of year again where I talk about my favorite books of 2019. This year was difficult, in terms of picking my favorite books, because out of the 100 that I read, only 10 caught my attention. So next year I'm most definitely taking my time with my books and am only going to read novels that truly interest me.
But thank you all for another wonderful year here on Booktube. This book community has changed my life for the better, and all your support, insight, and lovely comments truly mean the world to me. Thank you for supporting my channel and for listening to me speak endlessly about what I've been reading lately!

So glad you found my video and channel !
I read Night as a sophomore in high school because it was required reading and I loved it. It was so heartbreaking and personal, and I agree that everyone needs to read it. Such an important book.

I wish my high school made me read it. It’s so, so important
Wonderful yearly wrap up! Thank you for introducing new and interesting sounding stories!
yesss! I was waiting for this!!! I'm ready for my list to get 5 times longer lol
I just posted my favs for the year too. Please forgive the abrupt beginning and ending. So glad you are reading more literary and contemporary fiction! Your reading life will get better and better! Great job with your video, you are a pro! I need a lesson in editing as I am tech challenged..LOL Happy New Year!
I just added the last few books on your list to my tbr! Thanks for the recs!
Loved your choices. My Book club read Everything I Never Told You and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I want to read Starless Sea.
Intriguing. Night was required for me in high school.
I need to start reading all the books I have piled up! I didn't think I'd ever procrastinate before reading a book but here I am!
i came here to find some unique recommendations and was not disappointed! i’ve found that i feel the exact same about YA and the way you described some of these books made me excited to read in a way i haven’t felt in a long time (night and security in particular, but even the starless sea despite the fact that i prefer realistic fiction) so thank u!! would you say i would still be able to enjoy/understand when we left cuba without reading the companion novel?
Lots of interesting books. I may pick a few up for 2020. Got The starless sea for Xmas and can't wait to dive into it.
Red, white, and Royal Blue was one of my top books too. I added so many books to my TBR based on your recommendations. I read Night in 10th grade English, and I remember how impactful and sad that book was.
ooh such a great list!! Circe and Red, White & Royal Blue also made my top 10!!! that being said, I didn’t enjoy The Starless Sea so much, glad you did though :)
Your favs are all interesting sounding books that I want to pick up next year, I already bought Next year in Havana because of you and I'm thinking of getting The memory police as well, your taste in books is just so vast and I almost always want to read what you've read. Next year I want to expand what I read, and a lot of those books are books you've mentioned on your channel and I haven't seen anywhere else. I also want to try going to the library to pick up new books whether backlisted or not, because I find I pick up more interesting books this way. Red white & royal blue was one of my favs along with The fever king by Victoria Lee and Strange the dreamer. Hope you have a wonderful reading year in 2020 and come across many new favs!

This means the world to me that you pick up books I love and recommend! I feel like this year I’ve really moved away from YA and went more towards adult fic and other backlist books that aren’t as popular, and it means a lot that you still like my content either way 🥺
thank you for posting. these books sound really good!
i think it is time for me to finally pick up circe... great video as always! your soothing voice reminds me of Hannah from a clockwork reader!

Yes!!! Circe is one of my favorites of 2019
Hello! New subscriber here! I’m intrigued by Security and Memory Police. I’ve just added them to my tbr list. Daisy Jones is probably my favourite book this year.. the way this book made me feel is just indescribable. Also Every Thing I Never Told is in my list too.. such a great book.

yay! thank you for joining the community!
Everything I Never Told You is so good! My favourites are Daisy Jones and the Six, The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna, The Chestnut Man, Ask Again, Yes ánd I'm currently devouring City of Girls, which I know for sure will make my favourites list this year! Love your shirt btw!

City of Girls was soooo good! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it !
I haven't seen many people talk about The Dreamers at all! I loved it, in fact I think that in a genre that is so overexploited, The Dreamers and similarly, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel are the two books that have something fresh and incredibly touching to say. Especially the part with the boy and the girl in the school, the way it ended, that was truly strong!
Everything I Never Told You has been on my tbr for so long! loved hearing your thoughts on these books :))

everything i never told you was pretty well written but really slow in my opinion. just to warn you, if you like something more fast paced :)
I'm so happy to find someone who can recommend other books than YA and Fantasy all the time ! I just found your channel but I've been binge watching your videos looking for new books to read haha

So glad you found my channel! 🥰
Security is the next book on my tbr! Or... it was... I was hoping to star & finish it before the year ended but it's the 30th so I think it's going to be pushed to after the 4 books I'm doing for a read a thon & buddy read
The Dreamers 💛💛 I love Karen Thompson Walker’s books. I need to get to her new one but the library waiting list is so long!
you give ingrid nilsen vibes🥰 such a good list!
when you were talking about Daisy Jones I thought for a second you said „the rise of the sith“ hahaha my brain on star wars i guess 😂😂
I just love to watch your videos.. Wish you very Happy New Year..

And you as well 🥳
I also preferred 'the song of achilles' to 'circe'. I just never connected with her character I think...
I think we have so much in common, bookish-wise. And thanks for giving me that push to finally pick up Night. But did you know it’s a trilogy? There’s Dawn and the last book is Day. Have you read those too?
Hey. If you’re interested in japanese fiction i really recommend Haruki Murakami, especially his trilogy 1Q84. It’s really interesting and odd and worth checking out ^^
your voice is so calming, what do you use to record your voice for your videos?
I think they're are other books after Night that is about Elie Wiesel's life after the Holocaust. I have only read Night so I don't know what that are like but I bet that they're an informative read. I just wanted to let you know about them they're called Dawn and Day.
Quality yessss
Confessions by Kanae Minato is a japanese horror novel i read in 2019 that was really good in the way it was written, maybe read it if u like horror bc it was very disturbing? but extremely well written
You should read “the strange weather in Tokyo” , it’s a beautiful Japanse book, I’m sure you would like it
The way you discuss books is awesome. May I suggest editing less during sentences and such? I think stumbles and pauses make things more natural and less choppy. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, I really love your content as is.
Have you read Cien años de soledad? There is something in that novel... about memory loss. I know many people who think that book is difficult to read, but I found it ok, other books by García Márquez are more difficult. I'm reading The Starless Sea right now. :)

I most definitely want to pick that up soon since sooooo many people tell me it would be right up my alley!
Sooooo you shared that you read The memory police when you want short books to finish before the year ended, I ordered it online.. and I’m really glad I picked it up. I’m doing philosophy in college and I was able to look at it from those concepts as well. I was so sad at the ending. It’s seriously my favourite book too! Thank you for recommending, or I wouldn’t have picked it up!!
Never seen one of your videos before. Two minutes in, I hit subscribe! I feel like you're gonna be a new fave BookTuber.

Aw thank you for joining us!
It is funny that everyone mentions such profounds subjects about blue, red and royal blue, I quit it because it barely touched these subjects you mentioned as well, nothing profound unless it comes after half of the books.
Lovely
I had to read night in 9th grade the only book I really enjoyed that I had to read for class
❤️❤️
im just gonna read all your fav books during quarantine

I made sure she was holding Starless Sea in her hand before I clicked the video 😂😂
YAY we have a few in common I love it
It’s funny because daisy jones and the six was one of my least favorite books of the year. I did listen to the audiobook and I enjoyed the cast but I don’t think I cared enough about the characters.
