Single plastic use bags were banned in 2017. It is illegal and carries a fine of between 2-4 million Kenya shillings that is 6-13 million naira or a jail term of 1-2 years or both.

It's because Kenya has changed its constitution to have more voices on the decision table, and guarantees that our voices are heard. We have to have public participation before any policy change or implementation, if not that policy is illegal and unconstitutional. We listen to women, youth, marginalized rural communities, business leaders, religious leaders, professionals; everyone. Kenya also have a somewhat working justice system. So we solve our disputes amicably through the courts, and everyone gets justice. So less likely for people to engage in war.
Beautiful Kenya - my birthplace. Aussie 🇦🇺 here - with it’s altitude Nairobi has perfect climate - best coffee, best tea, great ‘forward looking’ people, RVP taxis, photographer’s paradise - many happy memories of growing up there in the 60’s and 70’s when JK was 1st President.

Hi Vera, Thank you for visiting our country kenya, Kenyans are your cousins, and they love visitors. In Kenya we use reusable bags in the whole country. Using plastic bags can send you to prison for some years. Another is about security in the airport, due to incidents of terrorism in the country, like the one we had in Westgate mall where many people died, security is tight in mos areas in Kenya, You had to leave the vehicle so that it can go through scanning machines to prevent bombs being sneaked inside the airport premises. All in all it is meant to protect you. We look forward to welcome you again.

Kenya's geolocation is very unique in that most of our neighbours are not politically stable or are in war. We have also been victims of terrorist attacks and with that we take our security very seriously especially in places that may be targets e.g.Malls, Airports, Government buildings etc...hence the reason for the extra security measures. Plastic bags are actually prohibited.
Vera, it is nice to watch your review. Plastic bags were banned a couple of years ago in Kenya so we have gotten used to using Reusable bags. The annual payment of rent isn't a thing here coz some people might wish to move out before the year elapses. Most Kenyans are naturally kind and welcome again ❤

So many positives things about Kenya. One striking observation is on environmental conservation. Trees, reusable bags, parks and "niceness" of Kenyans
3 days ago the minister of education said schools will be ranked based on the number of trees in their compound. Rent in Kenya you cannot afford to pay a year in advance. An ordinary 2 bedroom house is $200 per month. Who can give $2400 in advance? Plastic bags were banned. You always carry a shopping bag or buy one that is biodegradable as you shop which can be an expensive habit

In Kenya, you can pay rent for the whole year, six months, or even 3 or 2 months if you want to. Kenyans are very particular, they will move to different apartments depending on the cost, accessibility, amenities provided, and proximity to social areas and workplace. Kenya banned plastics and to date it's illegal to manufacture, import, sell or use single-use-plastics or carrier bags. Most travellers to Kenya from major international airport are always warned to discard their plastic bags before boarding any flight to Nairobi ❤. We've gone a notch higher to ban plastic water bottles in national parks. Tourists have to get reusable water bottles while in parks.
@TheVeraFrank

Secondly Rwanda is the first country in East Africa to ban common use of plastics as they were an environmental eye sore. Kenya followed suit and that has greatly improved our environment. You write and speak well.

Kenya went green in 2017 hence ban on plastic bags. Kenya is almost a cashless society, all government payments are cashless, covid also heightened use of cashless mode for payments, don't be afraid,it's safe as it can be. Am currently in Nigeria but av been warned not to Swipe my Visa. We are taught to plant trees and their importance since pre-school. As a tourist nation Kenyans are generally polite and welcoming. I'll have lots to say about Nigeria, especially the food but one shock I never understand is most Nigerians are loud...av learned they are really friendly but it's just their nature. Welcome back to Kenya, tourism is our business

Wooow Thank you. For visiting Kenya and welcome any time❤
The friendly police aspect in my opinion and as you rightly put it is the fact that Kenya being a touristic hotspot, people skills are very vital even by the police. Granted, police everywhere don't have a good reputation even in Kenya. The Kenya Police Service is subdivided into several units to handle different aspects of human interactions. Apart from the general patrol and traffic police units, there are; Tourism Police, Diplomatic Police, Airport Police,Railway Police, Port Police Units with specialized skills to cater to those segments of society and operations. As such, you are likely to encounter more friendlier police at the airport unit than may be those from the traffic unit for obvious reasons.

All of us
About the "going cashless" Kenya is not thinking of going cashless, we have been cashless formore than a decade and everyone here accepts mobile money including the government. Paying rent monthly is advantageous because you can only judge an estate/house and its management after living in it for a few months, also you might get a new job in a different city or theft can occur in the house/area forcing you to move; monthly payments make it flexible for any such unforeseen situations, but you can still pay annually if you so wish... great video non-the-less :)

Thank you Vera for such insight on Kenya. I Iove the video, your fluent English and your beautiful face but it will make more sense to show more footage of the environment. It will be better if you can talk in public spaces and engage the locals in conversation because you have a very good presenting skill. I am a documentary photographer and thought to share this with you if they will be helpful. I am already subscribed so I hope to see more. Thanks
Wow! Thank you for visiting our country and welcome again! Hearing someone speak so positively of my country almost made me emotional! We are a great country and we will keep rising higher and higher. The extra security measures were necessitated by the heinous acts of terrorism that we had faced in the past. We use reusable non-plastic bags as the plastic bags are prohibited by our National Environment Management Authority (NEMA); it is actually a offense worth prosecution in court which could attract a hefty penalty/fine. I am shocked that you guys in Nigeria pay rent annually! Wow!
Hi Vera Karibu tena(Welcome back) to Kenya, you are our brethren. Naija movies are always loved in our country; they are always played in our local TV stations.
I love to hear your great experience in Kenya, I may explain that the security checks as you get to the airport is necessitated by the past security threats in the country.
For the security at first Entrance, my guess is you would better neutralise any threat outside the Airport than manage it inside the Airport, Great review❤
You also obtained an accent from us. Bravo!
I miss Kenya! My homeland 🇰🇪
On rent, I think both annual and monthly have benefits. Like about monthly you can easily shift in case you don't like the place . On plastic bags, they were actually banned a few years ago.
