    You had asked about the 199 fee. That’s the fee since you’re not a advanced or premier member. It’s as if they force you to signup for a membership or else it’ll come out on the other end once you win a bid. I would join the advanced membership since you buy a handful of cars per year. You’ll save that extra 199 charge. Thanks again for the content.👍🏻

    I've bought 3 vehicles through copart, as a regular consumer with no special licenses... My final bid/final prices with tax and shipped were as follows: 2007 F150 $2500/$3558, 2011 A4 - $1200/$2040, and 2013 Impreza $3100/$4453... So you can reasonably assume about 30-40% costs over final bid added to calculate final total cost as a regular bidder... I live in Phoenix, with 156.00 shipping fee... Yours will vary based on distance.

Which is not too bad if I through broker I have to pay $250 transaction fee plus auctions fees and towing locally will still be about $150. My very short experience with Copart ... wanted to bid on a trailer in illunois but couldn't becoz Broker required. They sent me a page where they list which states require broker and which don't. North Carolina didn't require the broker. So I visited (another) trailer page located in Raleigh NC and found out couldn't bid either. Guess what they told me? The trailer is in NC alright but its title issuer is Virginia. Therefore, I couldn't bid. I disputed my membership fee on the same day I created. If you read their terms and conditions, they cover every single aspect. In reality, that doesn't mean they can cover their ass. The court has final decision, not their Terms. A lot of times, their terms are in grey areas with Federal and state laws. But fight them ... and you shall win (in some cases)

    Question. Copart charges you fees for placing a preliminary bid 100 and over? And also says during a live auction bid, you’re getting charged for the sale price if it’s $100 or more. What does any of this mean?

  • @Idtelos
    @Idtelos Жыл бұрын

    So for a vehicle that end with a bid of $10k has around $1500 in fees. If you ship it across the country, you looking at another $2000. Then you will need to deal with your state taxes, fees, inspections, registration. So around $14k-$15k before fixing the vehicle. Also, good luck if you miss your shipping date...those storage fees go into the hundres of dollars. Not worth all the headache...let alone the expense.

    Coparts convoluted schedule of fees turned me off from day one. Not because I don't believe that they should charge fees and not that I can't afford the fees but rather because I don't like that game that purposefully designed to confuse people. And don't think for a second that they're not 100% okay with their "approved" brokers from raking buyers over the coals, they know what's going on. Copart is a shady outfit, I personally wouldn't do business with them. What you ended up paying for a vehicle with 210k miles, which is at the tail end of its expected life, was outrageous. You're right, you could've purchased a vehicle on the street for about the same amount and you'd be able to know the history and test drive it and have some possible recourse if something was misrepresented. You get none of that with Copart.

  • @erickeenan7562
    @erickeenan75623 жыл бұрын

    Copart just made it impossible to buy a car with a no-fee membership. No-fee memberships could keep a deposit with Copart and bid up to 10x your deposit. Many states limit private buyers to just salvage, and some states don't allow any private buyers. But regardless, a private buyer with a no-fee membership would only be stuck paying Copart auction fees at a slightly higher commission than paid member/dealers. But Copart is essentially running a monopoly and is now flexing on the little guy. Copart is forcing every private buyer into what appears to be THEIR OWN AUTO BROKER, Autobidmaster. They appear to be intertwined in every way. But by forcing us into this (or other) broker, it is adding A WHOLE NEW LAYER OF COMMISSIONS. It is a total scam and they are forcing another middleman into the costs. This is just ridiculous, imo.

    To hire other shipping you need only provide Member# and Lot#. Vehicle is not necessary be yours or broker. I worked with car haulers. When they did send you that Copart paper with the amount ? Because that paper provide Member#. Did they told you Member# when you call to ship yourself ? , also how long did you wait for titile arrive to you ? My tip for you: Next time told them you need only Member# and Lot# and you will ship car by yourself. Provide Member# and Lot# to any towing and he will pick up the vehicle.

    A lot of that is Copart fees too though. You pay higher Copart fees as an individual, and you're limited on what kinds of cars you can bid on. It still means dealers pay less than you by a lot, because by the time you add in the broker fees, they're higher than even individual Copart fees would be IF you could bid on that vehicle. It really puts dealers at an advantage.
