Very nice video how did u get the car inspected by the state and how much did it cost and how did that work
@OrangeWiresGarage
2 жыл бұрын
Good question, in Tennessee you have to send before and after pictures along with all the parts receipts along with $75 to the State and if needed they will schedule the inspection. In our case one was not needed so they sent us the paperwork to get our tag and title. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Just FYI, If you buy a car in a state that does NOT require a broker, you don't need to go through a broker to buy the car. For example, If you live in Tennessee (where you need a broker) and you are looking to buy a car in Iowa (which does NOT require a broker), you can bid on the car directly through copart and save some money. If you were bidding on a car in Tennessee, then it doesn't matter which state you're from, you'd need a broker.

I've bought about 10 cars through them, mostly to flip. I only left $500 in my account so I could buy up to $5000 worth of cars. But I did buy a 2003 Grand Prix for $200 that needed some work. I put $600 into it in 2013. I drove it for a while, my wife drove it for a while, then gave it to my daughter when I moved to Phoenix . My daughter still drives it. Their fees are excessive but so are the fees at most auctions I've been to. The only way to get around the fees is city or county auctions, but they mostly contract auctions out now so you're back paying fees. You can make it work, but you have to figure the fees in your bids. I haven't had to use a broker, especially in AZ. You can buy anything without a dealers license.
Are you able to just drive it off the Copart lot (if driveable) or does it have to be delivered to your address? If delivered, how expensive was it for your truck in Alabama to TN?

Is there a fee every time a bid is placed? Say I bid and am outbid so I bid again? Am I charged the fee a second time? I am trying to purchase a wrecked sports car to repair and that would really impact my strategy. Great content by the way! Loved the video. 👍

After all is said and done and you get your vehicle, do you have to go register it at the d.o.l. and pay all those registration fees on top of everything? Or is it like buying from a dealership and all the registration work is all done and you are just waiting on your title to come in the mail?

It is confusing for sure! You are bidding on a car on the Copart Lot. You buy the car through SalvageReseller and they handle the paperwork for you for a fee of course. It does stink that you can no longer go to the Copart lot and look at cars with a membership to salvagereseller. It's a whole lot easier and cheaper to just buy a car directly on Copart site from a state that allows public buyers. Drive and pick it up yourself and cut out the middle man. Example I live in SC and buy in GA.
So I live in Illinois to buy a car here you need a broker if I buy from Iowa that doesn't need a broker do I still have to use one because my state requires one?
@OrangeWiresGarage

You should be able to buy in Iowa and go get it.
Great video! Did you have to follow the broker / no broker rule in the state you purchased or in the state you live? Their help page says, "Without business licenses, private individuals buying in ." That seems to say it's where are purchasing it, not where you live. If I understood your video it sounded like you went by the TN rules (where you live) vs the AL rule (where you purchased it). In your case, TN and AL are the same. I live in MO but the nearest Copart is right over the border in KS and they are completely opposite of each other. MO clean title - no broker, salvage - broker. KC clean title - broker, salvage - no broker. Thanks again, I'll be subscribing.

It is the state you purchase in our example we bought in AL which without a dismantler license you can’t buy salvaged. But for example GA we can buy clean title / salvage title without a broker. Different rules for different states but the broker worked well for us we didn’t need to sort all that out. We did buy in TN, AL, SC, NC, KY, LA, and TX using the broker with no issues. We are not paid by the broker LOL that is quite the opposite. Thanks for subscribing! We appreciate you!
