Bang on about the Foden/Saka and Gerrard/Lampard comparison. It's mad how little we've learned after that era. Both should not be in the starting XI, pretty much impossible to have optimal balance with both of them in there. Just pick one and let the other be an impact player, it's not a massive deal having one come off the bench.

Bellingham is literally a world class CM and AM. I don’t see why he can’t drop deeper next to Rice in order to get Foden playing in his best position.

Comparison is accurate for the wrong reason. Gerrard was never a CM and should never have been played at CM but could easily have played in the same XI as Lampard if used on the right or at #10 where he was actually world class. Saka's a right winger, while Foden has better stats playing centrally or on the left.

@@rogerioceni2640 Doesn't matter too much because Foden isn't taking Jude's spot in the middle and him on the left wing will ruin the team's balance because there's no runner/outlet. With how much Kane drops deep England can't play with two ball to feet wingers. Didn't work against France in Qatar

No he is not the most talented. His talent ceiling is just his ability to occupy the pockets getting on the half turn through the middle with give and gos and decent ballstriking. That is Foden. The top talents in England are Trent Jude Rice Saka and Kane. However Foden does have a a vital role in the team for certain games but that depends on how Southgate utilizes his profile.

We have 2 freindlies before Euros, i think you're right. I can see Southgate trying this in the 2 games and i also hope Kobbie Mainoo gets capped in atleast 1 of those games or even give him experience in both.

Agree with most, but the United players are definitely a bit too high for me, guessing you're a United fan. Luke Shaw's injury problems and lack of form makes him a doubt to start. I think he is clearly our best left back when fit, but could see Gomez potentially playing there instead, even though I think he get's carried by VVD. In contention for me. Rashford realistically shouldn't be on the plane given his form this season, he offers nothing outside of goals and he's barely getting those atm. I worry about his poor defensive work rate, inconsistent finishing and poor decision making. He's a winger that can't win a 1v1 against a defender. I'd have Gordon and Foden ahead of him in the pecking order at LW for sure. Mainoo I rate and i'd be taking, especially with our lack of options in midfield, but he's not in contention to start. Even if we were to play two defensive minded mids with Bellingham (let's exclude Trent), Gallagher is ahead of him in the pecking order and deserves to be, he's been Chelsea's best player this season. Maguire should be moved up into a tier titled "undroppable God". He could piss on Southgate's waistcoat and still making the starting line-up, there's not even a point in considering his role in the team. He's been poor for England since the Euros really and still starts every friendly. If we want a completely average international defender, just start Lewis Dunk.

The disrespect on Jack Butland! He has the highest saves, highest save percentage and highest clean sheets of all English goalkeepers this season

Pretty good selection tbh. Realistically since you have to have 3 keepers and whites not in contention I'd take gordon over sterling, and replace mainoo and white with trippier and a CB, maybe konsa. Actually I wouldn't mind bowen over one of the left wingers, would have to be gordon realistically

I think players like barkley Jones and elliot really need to be in the discussion more. I get there's limited numbers they can bring but either of them could be a wildcard to bring along.

Even as a Chelsea fan, I'm not particularly a fan of Gallagher. On the turn, truly horrendous, progression on the ball, not great, technically very poor, only ever passes it sideways or backwards. But, I will say, to compare likes of Mainoo, Jones etc workrate to Gallagher is just disrespectful, there is close to nobody in world football that runs as hard as he does. Tbh, it's about all Gallagher can do but he does it better than anyone, hence why his running distance is the highest of anyone in Europe's top 5 leagues.

Because he's always injured. A fit Loftus-Cheek would be a starter for a top 6 side and not stuck in the Italian semi-retirement league.

Sometimes it’s more to do with the effects it can have on a players body physically playing too much high intensity football at a young age can be detrimental causing them to pick up injuries.

Might be outrageous but if AWB keeps improving and keeps getting better at link up play like he did against Liverpool in a couple years could he not start or be talked about at RB, with Taa being pushed to midfield after struggling defensively, walker being older, trippier falling off, James with no hamstring anymore, who is going to be RB?

That’s why you’ve got Gomez, he can cover cb, rb & lb. Chillwell can only play lb and he’s not reliable himself, he’s been injury prone or in bad form for years now.

I think Leif David should be considered for the left back spot. One of the weakest areas for England and he’s been great for the last 2 seasons.

The guy never had the opportunities at Chelsea mainly because of injuries but this guy has been our best player this season in all competitions. Being in a weaker league doesn't have much to do with it. Smalling and Loftus-Cheek are not all that. RLC, in particular, has banged in a few goals from midfield and now people think he's suddenly great..... he's not. RLC is the same average player he was at Chelsea, we just don't have any other midfielders to compete with him... and he brings some physicality to our squad.

Man united fans love hyping up their players 😂 Palmer has a good season and Mainoo has a good few months and now hes in contention to start for england

I couldn't care less about England and I hope they get knocked out of every major tournament they ever play in. Overrated nation full of overrated players, BUT.... Foden is an excellent player who absolutely has to be in this team. There's no doubt about that in my mind. Saka is nowhere near him and even without the pace, Foden is the superior footballing talent. Also, Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez are iffy shouts, in my opinion. Those two are pretty mid, in fact Gomez might be one of the worst defenders to ever play for a top team in England. He's shocking. If I'm England manager (they seem to be happy with that bum Southgate so idc) then the midfield 3 are Rice, Bellingham and either Foden or Maddison. Front three are Rashford (unfortunately), Kane and Foden (if Maddison is in midfield) or Saka (if Foden is in midfield).
