Same! Funny but I look forward to these coming out, even though I have no expectation that I’ll ever build my own building. I do feel like I’ve earned an apprenticeship or something by now. What will it get me? I don’t know, maybe I’ll be a little more on top of my game the next time I have to clean my gutters or something ;-)

Same here - the mindset of 'can we do it better next time even though we're doing it pretty damn good' is one that lots of people (including me!) should apply a little more often

​@HPST205 I disagree to an extent. Ive worked with guys who try to pass things off and seem upset when I wont let it pass. For example (most recent) when a tree fell through a roof a guy wanted to just sister it which to his defense was to the plan. But the damage was worse than the engineer realized and I didnt feel good leaving it. Ultimately I decided to replace the damaged rafter and then sister it. Took extra time but it was the right thing to do. Of course, budget plays a huge roll. You get the cheapest bid on a shower or trim and it will be obvious. But when it comes to things that is harder to see like on a roof or in an attic people try to get away with things they wouldnt otherwise. Biggest thing Id recommend to people looking to hire someone is to ask for pictures. I find that guys who take ride in their work take a lot of pictures. We want to show it off.

The thing I always notice is that I start out thinking "I could lay a metal roof", and I doubtless could (badly). Then I watch your vids and I then realize "Son, you have no idea what you're doing when it comes to metal roof laying." Well done on bringing reality to a bunch of amateurs who would be working well above our pay-grade - except when it comes to OSHA compliance (sorry, I couldn't resist that one, LOL).

I love watching this detailed build series. You guys are awesome.

I like that you can admit you can still learn new stuff on the fly, and willing to make mistakes. So far I have not seen anything catastrophic. Keep up the good work.

I don't think it is said enough. I appreciate R&R taking the extra time to film and “tell the story”! I don't even build anymore and I am “involved”.

Looks great,and totally waterproof. This goes to show how expensive valleys and dormers are. In a perfect world there would be no height restrictions. And shed dormers are so much faster and cheaper to build.

This video was the first time I couldn't guess the end of your detail before the last step. What a puzzle! Turned out great in the end though, awesome work as always.

We all felt that self tapper falling off the bit. Happen enough and all bets are off on what's getting launched into orbit

That vertical cut that you made on the top of the lower panel and the bottom of the upper panel bumps up against it looks like a spot where water can get in. Also, I would have taped the sides of your valleys like you did on the other side in case condensation worked it's way underneath. The valleys are the most important aspect and you want to keep water from going underneath. I like both ways that you did this. I'm glad that you did the other side first and then the show side second. Show side is visible from the house and road.

That's the most difficult metal valley that I've ever seen that's done right. Your work is just about as good as it can get but I wouldn't have done that vertical cut on both sides of that rib at 19:21 minutes into the video. I would have only cut off the outside of that rib. Other than that, it's a perfect job!

So, I think the attention to detail is just amazing as far as being airtight for efficiency with the materials you are using. But its still a shop. How do you plan on accounting for the rollup door being a huge source of air leaking into the building. In my shop I can't find a solution to this issue. Thanks, Mike

In previous builds, when you were hemming your end seam, you used to use a piece of cardboard to help protect the paint on the surface. The last few videos I noticed you haven’t been using anything between the clamp. Did you get a new hemming tool? Or have you found a new way to help prevent paint scratching? Looking good! Very nice job guys 💪🏻. I do have a question for you Kyle, why didn't you tape the outside valley hem like you did on the other side of the roof? Was it a overkill doing it there?

Fully expecting to build a 160 x 60 building that we can divide into 4 units and rent them out to other business while my business uses 1 of the four

Would bringing the valley all the way out to the facia solve that problem it seems like a catch point with the water drainage I believe all your other videos show's it to facia don't remember

so those horizontal measurements you were taking in the beginning going up was the accumulated width of the vertical sheets? you seem to just be randomly stopping and marking. would've been nice if you said every 16 inches we make a mark to account for the width of each sheet.

I feel the water rushing down the valley will run into the last piece and get under the snapped leg and get over the underside, just saying👍

Why did you not start from right to left or go into the valley pan to protect your bend over tab and from water flow into the overlapping hem. Also ice can slide and catch your bent tab. Please let me know your thought process on this. Thanks . Love you guys bantering back and forth

When you’re doing the triangle calculation wouldn’t the run be 16” and that degree of 37.2 be the level cut. That would make it rise 21” 1/16 which is the same thing but my brain reads it this way.

$19,750 for the pro version of the Snaptable. MSRP probably.

I wonder the cost of this shop....so many layers on roof and walls its gotta be up there.

Its still cheaper then stick frame due to speed. Roofing and insulation are fixed costs. Valley's are expensive.

What brand and model of standing seam is this???

Kyle,I do like the look. I just can't wrap my hands around the extra cost in labor and material that I know is substantially higher than a screwed down roof with the same warranty on paint. Just me, but when I had my roof bid for both, it was $ 9000.00 more for standing seam. Just can't agree with that cost.

I’ve always wondered.. are one of those houses yours? Bc you’re building a shop that’s bigger than those houses in what seems like a neighborhood.. it’s just odd to me.

Im still baffled on the location of your shop. Did those people sell you the land behind their homes or was that a part of your property?

Your math was impressive, BUT, you ran into the likely scenario of things not working out at the finish of the valley. That is a total no-no to cut out that seam to "make it fit".

The overhangs provide a home for raccoons and squirrels. Plus leaves and dirt can accumulate in the over hang.
