Hello,
In this episode of My Dolls House Diary, I’m popping up into the attic and making a start on decorating the attic craft room. I’ll show you how I copied the wallpaper from my ‘real-life’ craft room and down-sized it for my dolls house and the best way to paper a chimney breast, so there are no joins!
If you enjoy making dolls house furniture and miniatures, you might like my books; I've published 5 so far and they're all available to purchase from Amazon - just search for Julie Warren.
I also have a Patreon page, where you'll find more great videos every month. Thanks, I'm really pleased with it.
I think using your actual wall paper in the doll house makes it so much more personal!!! It looks amazing in both scales!!!!

You are so right about the Gorilla wood glue; it really makes a difference when you use it vice the cheaper wood glues. Thank you for sharing that tip in so many of your videos.

I found that when I get a bump or bubble in my paper , if I take a pin and pop it it will lie nice and flat.

Thanks for the tip. :)
As always I enjoy watching your videos....and I love the direction you are going in with the craft room. I especially love that it matches up with your current craft room. Wallpaper can be difficult. Have you thought about using an old gift card or credit card to smooth out the paper? I only make this suggestions because it saves wear and tear on the fingers and nails (from drying out). I know that people have used the old card idea when applying appliques to a wall. As long as its used gently, it won't tear any paper. I've used this idea to apply contact/sticky paper to a flat surface and it worked out nicely.

Thanks Heather, I was just being lazy really, as I have a padded wallpaper smoother, which is the same size as a credit card, but with a felted surface. It works a treat. :)
I love that wallpaper - as much as I did in the full sized. This looks like another charming room in the making and I anticipate great pleasure in watching you create! Personal note - couldn't help but admire the fleeting glimpses of your "blue and white" collection. It looks like Staffordshire or Coalport, but I think I spy a piece or two of Johnson Brothers (of which I have a small collection in many patterns).

I noticed the blue and white also. I have a real life collection and always on the lookout for miniatures to add to dollhouse.

Thanks George. I can't wait to get stuck into the craft room. The china is a collection we started quite a few years ago and I think there is a bit Staffordshire and Johnson Brothers, but it's all bits we've picked up at car boots and from junk shops for a few quid a time. :)

Nancy, I'd like to build a similar dresser and have a blue and white collection in my dolls house dining room. Stokesay Ware do some lovely miniature pieces. :)
I've used old wallpaper that I have left over scraps of in lieu of the liner you mention as I could not find it in the US. If one does this, however, turn the pattern of the old wallpaper so that it faces the wall and the plain back side is exposed so the old pattern will not show through to the new wallpaper. Worked a treat and got rid of a lot of old wallpaper scraps that were hanging around my basement.

That's a great tip, Mary, as normal wallpaper will have the same texture on the back as the lining paper. :)
Hello Julie, I am just beginning my journey building and decorating my own dollhouse. I am in love with the look of your attic room (dust and all) I wonder if you could talk a bit about how you made the wooden walls and the brick wallpaper? I am doing a similar room in my dollhouse attic and would love to hear about how you did that! Thank you for considering!

Julie, next time try using your hair dryer. I’ve used that to remove wall paper in a dollhouse and it works. A heat gun may get too hot to use on the miniatures.

I quite like the act of peeling away the paper by hand! :)
Julie--I've checked the Wayfair website for the wallpaper, but can't find it--do you remember the name of the manufacturer and the design?

Hi Sue, send me an email, to julie@littlebitsandpieces.co.uk and I'll email you over the A4 sheet. :)
Lovely work. But that material has nothing to do with MDF! This is chipboard... MDF is lovely smooth and comes in all sorts of thicknesses. 😃

This might have already been asked but what software do you use to scale pictures for the wallpaper?
@JulieWarren

I use Adobe Photoshop. :)
Julie do you use regular printer paper or card stock for the wallpaper? It’s beautiful!
@JulieWarren
2 жыл бұрын
I just use regular printer paper, I think this one is an 80gsm. However, if you are using a thinner paper, you need to prepare your walls so no defects show through. :)
Water color paper works well if you can't find lining paper
