Hello,
In part two this episode, I make and fit a strip-wood floor in the attic craft room and cut, fit, and paint the skirting board. After a few finishing touches, the attic craft room is ready for moving in!

I’m so happy you mitred all the ends of the skirting… it’s attention to details like this that sets you apart from other makers. 🔍✏️📐📏

Your method of constructing and conquering that recalcitrant floor is why I am so enthralled with your channel. It seems you solve my problems before they even become problems! I only wish I had the wherewithal to progress more swiftly with my own project. It's been 50 years in the planning and 10 years of actual construction, and I have nothing completed - or at least not completed enough for me to be willing to share it openly!

Looking amazing Julie!...I am trying to figure out what kind of dollhouse I want to ultimately have/build myself...I know I want alot of rooms at least 8! I prefer a more modern look, so I'm trying to do some research on what that might be.

Deciding how many rooms you'd like is a good place to start. Think as well about where you'll be putting it and how much free space you have. Then, it's just a question of searching until you see one that really takes your breath away. Good luck with your search. :)

@@JulieWarren Thank you Julie!🤗
I absolutely love the wallpaper in there, as I did when you redid your full sized craft room...it is so pretty, and fun at the same time. Will be interesting to see how you decorate a non-storage attic room with that sharp angled wall. I have two in my Mad Scientist's Mansion with a sharp angle on the side walls, so any tips on that will help. :). (Ps- got 2 of your books so far from Amazon, and they are both fantastic)

Thank you, I'm so pleased with how the wallpaper looks, it's made it so cosy. I won't know until I get started, but I expect a lot of the space beneath the angle of the ceiling will be lost - I shall probably work to a straight line along from the edge of the chinmey breast...Thank you so much for buying the books, your support is really appreciated. I'm glad you're enjoying them. :)

Julie, could you mix the oak and pine together?
@JulieWarren

Yes, you can mix the wood dyes and create some lovely colours. I'm going to be having a go at mixing a 'not so orange' pine for my bedroom furniture. :)
Hi Julie, again amazing video. I am now uo to date with the series. I didn't see a video of you making the ceiling beams. I wanted to make some for my kitchen. I don't know if you have a video on it and I have just missed it ? What did you use to make them ? Would appreciate your help
@JulieWarren
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Priya, there was a video showing how to make the kitchen beams, I can't remember the number now, but do have a search back through the playlist.
I'm loving your videos if for nothing else to see your process. Did you build the house? How does a first timer know the measurements of house and furniture. I do like the 1/12th size. Thnx
@JulieWarren
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. There is no real set size for a dolls house, although I would advise you to buy a kit or a pre-built house if you are new to the hobby. With furniture, you need to measure a full sized piece and divide that by 12. Take a look at my Measurements and Scaling video, which I think you'll find helpful. :)

@Julie Warren thank you for the recommendation. I'll check it out. I had bought a kids kraft mansion (3.5' tall) at a yard sale and plan to restyle the walls, flooring etc and then learn how to build furniture with your books & videos. Thnx!
Absolutely lovely. I love the wallpaper in that scale, as much as I did when you put it in your own craft room. It really is beautiful. Will you be making a rug to go in there as well, or do you order your rugs? I've been wanting to embroider an actual rug, but it's difficult to find the proper material where I live in the states. Thanks so much for sharing. I am very excited to see the rest of your rooms coming together.

Try going to a needlework shop for material for your rugs. They make even weave fabric that is used for counted cross stitch that is very closely woven. One of the cutest rugs I've ever seen was done in all-over French knots. You can also use tatting or crochet. To stiffen the backs of your rugs, try hair spray.

@@maryannerick7617 Thank you so much! I have seen where some say to use a "I think" it's a 40 count silk gauze, but I'm having a hard time finding that. I keep getting bandages coming up.. haha I do know how to crochet and do needle tatting, but I'm a bit of an amateur in tatting. I can only do the basics. Always fun to learn, though, right? Thanks again. .I appreciate it.

@@Shari_A._ In the interim, you can also print a rug onto canvas using an inkjet printer. Just make sure the long edge prints along the long edge of the canvas to make pulling threads for the fringe easier. Oh, and the 40 count x-stitch is usually linen...just look for 40 ct linen evenweave, it should turn up. :) Would look beautiful in a petit point x-stitch (4 boxes to the normal 1 box on a pattern, and not as painful as it sounds...lol!)

@@Shari_A._ I forgot to mention, use a printable canvas designed to go in an inkjet. I did a video on how to do that, and am only mentioning that because I show the brand that I used from Amazon in the video itself. (It is a ways back in my list, since it was one of my first ones) Don't think I can link you to the product here, or I would. :)

@@skeletorama1916 Thank you. I want to do actual needlework, and I think printing on canvas makes it a little too bulky. That's why I was trying to find the silk gauze, because I felt it looked more to scale (in the few I've actually seen). I will look for the linen, I can see that working if it's thin enough. I've just seen some rugs that are beautiful, except for the fact they are way too thick, and I was trying to find a way around that. I do like cross stitching too, so there's yet another option.. Yay. I'm not put off by things being tedious. I rather like it, for some reason.. heh Being new to minis, it's hard for me to do searches when I don't know what I'm looking for.. hehe I do appreciate all the help. I'm sure I'll find something eventually, through trial and error. 😄 You guys have given me a great start. Thank you so much!
