    Thank you Marie! 🌼🌷Literally after watching this video I made your cream, with the omission of HA and dimethicone, I thought I had demethicone but I don't, and I also don't have HA yet. I was particularly curious to try out this new ratio of 1,5 % emulsifier (mine is glyceryl stearate only), 9% oil and 1,5 % HEC. I standardly use HEC in my cremes because I like its freshness and the modern twist of hybrid cremes. I am a beginner and had settled lately on 10% propanediol; 0,8% HEC and 15% oil of which 20% emulsifier (and thus 3% emulsifier in total recipe, of which glyceryl stearate is one of my 2 favorites), and afterwards I would add more water as I feel my skin needs water. I know this is a detour, instead of just lowering the oil phase with 5% to make it 10%, and was planning to do this, so your video was the excellent moment to try out this new ratio of the 3 ingredients (9% oil, 1.5% emulsifier, 1.5% HEC)! I used raspberry seed oil, 10% propanediol, added 1% bisabolol, and aqua green/turqoise colorant , no fragrance, and mixed for 15-20 secs with a mini mixer (50 g), after which hand blending. I also add the oil later after the emulsifier has melted, to shorten the heating time and preserve the oil's vitamins and anti-oxidants as much as possible. Marie, you should try mini-mixing too for when you make 50 or 100 g batches, you don't need a stick blender (I know this was a 300 g batch)! 🌼🌷 I wish I could send a photo! Thank you, Marie, this is a much better ratio! Edited after use of gelly cream: now I remember why I decreased HEC from 1 to 0.8%: the cream starts pealing when you use 1% HEC (so this gelly cream with 1.5% peals as well). I'm not sure if this is the case with the gellyfying agent Marie used

    This is totally unrelated to this video, but I felt like you could help. I love using Jergens Wet lotion. What I love most about it, is that you do not have to rinse it off. All of the wet/shower lotion recipe's I find mention that you should rinse it off. How can I make one that is a leave on wet lotion like the Jergens?

    Hi Marie, I read that one should add preservative before adding Sepimax Zen so that water trapped in gel is uniformely preserved. Also, that one should avoid high sheer after adding Sepimax Zen in water phase so not to break polymer chains (I did break that rule once by blending Sepimax into water right after adding for faster hydration and it did not break gel). What is your experience?

  • @dennisroelandts215

    @dennisroelandts215

    I came to the comments to say this as well. I was also told that high sheer blending would break down the gel structure of sepimax Zen. I've done it once as well and found it ok but not the way it should be. I have a different attachment when I blending mine. I also do mine cold process with no other emulsifier and add my preservative to the water first. It's interesting seeing Marie do it this way. I'm looking forward to read if she shares her thoughts about this.

    @@dennisroelandts215 Thanks you two for this information, also @natasha! :) Dennis, if you don't use "another" emulsifier, then this means that you are only using a gellifying agent and so you are making a serum, and not a (hybrid) cream (twilight-zone between cream and gel, but an emulsion, thus cream, still).

    @@galaxia4709 I have tried with adding another emulsifier, I do prefer it on its own for what I'm wanting, yes it is like a serum emulsion. I only have a 6% oil phase so it's easily working for my needs.

    @@galaxia4709 sepimax zen gels and emulsifier u to 10% of oil easily. So it is an emulsified facial serum I make. The most beneficial actives I am working with are water soluble and also not wanting a high oil phase for this. I just love the lightweight and extra spreadability that it has without the need of a secondary emulsifier. And I like that I can make it cold process.

    this is a beautiful formula but where is the alcohol ? the body shop's body yoghurts' light and fresh/cold feel on the skin is 100% due to the alcohol in them. it's also what makes them "disappear" after application =)

  • @alexanderyong4432

    Hi, this approach doesn't make sense to me, as the preneutralized polymers should not have to be proceeded with a high shear forces. The high shear (immersion blender) will break the gel network irreversible, and thus will lead to drop the viscosity. Those type of polymers are designed to be added at the end of the emulsification process to correct the viscosity and increase the stability, but not at that way as you have shown in the video.

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    @HumblebeeAndMe

    Hi! I won't speak for all pre-neutralized polymers, but SEPPIC (the manufacturer of Polyacrylate crosspolymer-6 [Sepimax ZEN], the polymer I'm using in this formulation) has shared several sample hot processed emulsion formulations that call for four minutes of homogenizing at 4000rpm after the addition of the polymer. They also recommend using a homogenizer to speed its hydration in glycerin in formulations where a large quantity of glycerin is the hydration medium, without mentioning any sort of maximum allowable time or speed. ("Note: Hydrating Sepimax Zen into glycerin is very slow process - using vacuum and homogenizer will speed up the swelling of sepimax zen in glycerin") Here is one such formulation: www.formulez-vous.com/formulations/us20118-hangover-cure-replenishing-lotion/ As what I'm doing is in line with how the manufacturer of this ingredients recommends using it, I think this method is ok :)
