What you do with this money to help with mental health and addiction crisis really curious? As someone who's dealt with both 1/2 my life and sober 9 years now n clean as well equally the same it's a few subjects I take interest in.

Change them. The last thing you want is a blowout when a truck is flying past you. Also you'd preserve them and could auction them for charity or something.

This right here, it's already and incredible achievement skating across the US, the fact that the wheels could now pose a danger is not worth the risk, just switch them out

This. His shoes were changed because of wear. There isn’t a difference in changing your wheels. But I get why he wants to. That board would be a treasure if all intact. At the end of the day I’m sure he’s aware if they won’t make it.

You should definitely change the wheels and board, you will feel like it's a new start with new energy to continue the journey. You don't want the wheels to fail or you get a hang up on a highway so you get hurt and risk everything. Keep pushing Chad, we are all cheering for you.

Don’t risk it, change them. I know it would be cool to do it on one set but you’re not diminishing how monumental this is by swapping to a safer option.

For real the simple gesture of people showing up just to push a bit with essentially a stranger and having such a pleasant interaction is honestly restoring my faith in humanity. That's what life is all about.

Not sure if it's the regions, your minor celebrity status or what but there seems to be a lot of southerners wanting to support and meet you during this journey. All the homies along the way definitely make it great. At first my reaction was like “nah, not going to get anywhere stopping to talk all the time”, but in a way that’s the point of traveling and even life on the day to day routine of whatever, to keep moving and balance it out with the right amount of spontaneous interactions and connections/ conversation. Has inspired me to take time to converse a little more.

As a guy who road his bicycle from Washington to Virginia, I relish in your story, Chad. I hope you can pump up and down the hills of Virginia. There’s more elevation gain and loss in that one state alone than the rest of the route combined!! That includes crossing the continental divide seven times! Virginia is hilly AF. Pump those hills Chad!! Oh and swap those wheels!!

I’m posting this a month late so who knows if you’ll see it. But regarding the support vehicle conversation, there’s a long history of Fastest Known Time records in long distance hiking and cycling. And they’re usually separated into “supported” anf “unsupported” records. Someone will probably do your route faster soon, with support, and that’s awesome for them. But the fact that you did it first, unsupported, is FUKKIN’ BOSS!

So stoked to wake up every morning to watch this series . Super excited for you to be getting close to the end!

I called it! I knew about just one set of wheels across America. It's hard to say, I would rotate them beause the ones in the back suffer more and that way thry would last longer, but that make the front wheels "thinner" and more susceptible to rough terrain and peebles. I also can't see the wheels really close so... Also I agree with many commenters, this journey is very important for many people. Today I had a "cigarette break" and didn't feel the urge to smoke or any cravings. First time but many more to come. Keep it up!
