That's similar to how I view modern Heathenry and Paganism. There seems to be a rift between theism and atheism in the latter, but there's less of a debate in the former. In Heathenry, you don't have to believe in the Gods as literal beings. What's most important is the life you live now.

I couldn't agree more. I'm an atheist myself, but some of my friends are Celtic Polytheists and I've found that their daily rituals are essentially slight variations on my own routine, on what I use to attain mindfulness and be present in the moment for a few minutes a day. Focusing and meditation are essentially secular practices if applied as they tend to be by people like, say, John Kabat-Zinn, but when theists mention the power of prayer, I think they're referring to their own mindful processes in a slightly different way. Whether they're praying to Odin, Saint Bridgid, Papa Legba, God or whatever else, they're focusing their entire attention on a single action for a few minutes. I'm almost positive you'd notice the same drop in systolic tension and cortisol levels in them that you would in someone who engages in a more secular or therapeutic form of meditation. In simpler terms, I don't think the body sees much difference between focusing on your breath and becoming present and, say, thanking your deity of choice for whatever went well for you, today.

I am an agnostic and I don't have any religious practice. But, if these things interest you, then you could try keeping some sort of altar or have some sort of practice. You do not need to believe in god(s) to practice. In some peoples' understanding of Judaism, for example, god is not a higher all-powerful being. For these people, God is a manifestation of the human need for authority and morality. Some gods exist because of the need for parental guidance or anything else for that matter. I would advise anyone to explore a practice. Believing in god can be whatever you understand it to be.

As a non-theistic Druid (animist, actually) - mindfulness, intentional living, and taking time to connect with the natural world are key components of my practice. Walking in the woods, paying attention to how nature changes as the seasons change, learning about plants, animals, stones, history of place, and just stopping to listen are not “religious” activities, but they are deeply spiritual ones for me. We modern humans have so much disconnected ourselves from the natural world and it’s rhythms for so long that we have forgotten who we are! Time to change that!

When you mention about spending time outside in nature and having a dedicated outside space... it just made me smile thinking about a tree in my yard. When I moved into my husband's family home I was drawn to the tree. Turns out it's a fruit bearing tree that the family has connected with every birth in the family for generations. I sit under there and ground myself often. It helps to imagine our roots intertwining... my ancestors with my husband's.

Over the past few years we have worked so hard to make the property pleasant (it's a 4 plex where we rent, but we work so hard on it, we practically took over & do what we like. The garage is now only ours. 1/2 is my husband's & 1/2 is my outdoor witchy room).

Paganism of Ancient Europe was practiced by European Aborigenals (Blacks/Mauren/Schwarzen). Hence the word Heide (Pagans) was banned as being derogatory towards Blacks because not all Blacks were Heide (Pagans). It was later replaced with the word Bastards. So what does the word Pagan mean? It's when a Jewish male has a child with an Atheist. This Black child is called a Heide or Bastard in New English you would say Pagan or Bastard. When African American (Jews) Troops left babies by female Rhineland Atheists Hitler called them Rhineland Bastards (Pagans/Heide). Those that had babies with Rhineland Catholics or Christians Hitler called Germanic Aborigenals or German Indians or Schwarzen. When negro slaves were shipped to North America they were described as being the Pagan Vegans (Vegetarian Heide/Vegetarian Bastards). It simply means the mothers of these Blacks had no religion or were non-believers and the fathers were Jewish. Hence, whites were not Pagans because it was a word Hvite called all Mauren (Blacks) regardless if they were Pagans or not. That's the reason why this word is banned in Europe. During the Black Plague Whites blamed and burned Jews and Witches (Heide) therefore the victims were Blacks regardless of religion.

You're a witch? So you cast spells? I'm not one for religion or witchcraft bc I don't personally believe in either but in curious of your thinking and what you consider qualifications necessary in order to call yourself a witch. And a pagan. You truly believe that the yggdrasil and tree of life exist? Or that fertility is granted by gods or goddesses like Freya for example rather than biology and diet? I wish I could believe in this fairytale religion as its for sure the most interesting. But everyone thinks they worship the right God or gods and no one knows for sure. But we have proof of evolution that goes unacknowledged. Im just interested in this witch thing. Do you believe you can actually summon magic and cast spells that are effective? Can you explain?

@@gina-mariecarr3488 i mean, every witch believes in different things and i am not that person but here is *my* point of view i am a witch and believe in science. witchcraft is about manipulating energies. could be in a positive way, but also in negative. for example, i like doing self-love spells and spells that help me study, and it works out for me. spells are a boost, not something that will happen for sure. maybe its just the placebo-effect. idrc if it is, because it does influence my life in a good way. one time i did cast a spell on my best friend, to give him nightmares (he was okay with it, and he didn't believe in witchcraft) andit worked lol. witchcraft is about connecting to nature. being more aware of what you do. a witch once said "if you have a broken leg, you go to a doctor to heal it. if you have a broken heart you go to a witch to heal it." so, witchcraft is more about the "inner" things, outside of science. paganism and witchcraft is something different. paganism is a group of religions. witchcraft is a practice. pagans may believe that fertility can be blessed by some god*desses, but not given by them. this is just my point of view

I have atheist witch friends that practice solely based off placebo effect, they dont believe in energy or anything. I practice from a neo-pagan perspective. And no i dont believe any of the pantheons exist as old civilizations portrayed them 100%, its more like, all those pagan civilizations had a point with polytheism and nature and im trying to figure out what it is.

@@brycebailey5444 could it be because of sin? If you are knowingly sinning, and are not repenting, then maybe that’s the barrier between you and Yeshua and Yahweh. We all sin, but it’s the “ knowingly sinning and not repenting “ that’s the problem. Humans have added and subtracted from what Yahweh said and what Yeshua said so it’s difficult to scrap off all that unnecessary unwanted added stuff, and find out what the orginal, basic message is. And Christianity has allot to answer for , in doing some truely awful things, that’s for sure! I don’t consider Islam an Abrahamic religion for too many reasons to post here. I’ve studied Islam for many years now and it is an invented political system, for the benefit of one man, Muhammed. Religion / a deity were added to both threaten punishment for disobedience and promise rewards for obedience to what Muhammed wanted. And the claims of being the same god as that of the Torah and Gospels were to add validity , and respectability to the things that Muhammed was saying ( he copyied extensively and changed to aggrandize himself , rituals and texts orginally pagan , the Jewish Talmud and Christian apocryphal texts. ) Islam has done and presently does, some pretty horrific things in the name of their deity , that’s also true. Whats helped me get closer to understanding Yahweh is a series of books by Craig Winn called Yada Yah . Go to www.questioningpaul.com . The books are there. (There’s other things that have helped too, too many to post here. ) I hope you find what you need in your spiritual journey .

I would very much like to learn wood carving, specifically for my own personal totem. I am not sure yet, though, as my granddads ancestors would have been traced back to Germanic culture. So far, I am working slowly to narrow it down more. I'm currently looking into linguistics. My grandmother's ancestors would have been traced back to Celtic culture, and that is a lot more difficult to figure out. Her family has lived in canada for "hundreds of years," and there is nothing. No identification documents, no family contacts. Any names lead to other families, not ours. Apparently, at some point, someone thought it would be a great idea to change everyone from one group name to the same oral last name, again not writing anything down! It has been easier to trace my immigrant grandfather than my "old stock" grandmother 😅😅😅 My point is that I want very much to honor both families, so I am learning about carving, but I am waiting to start my own personal totem until I have more information.

I am in 100% agreement with the fact that we need nature. I have been in my spirituality, which is Pegan-based for many years, but it wasn’t until we moved from an apartment to the country. I didn’t even care about the place or residence that we were staying as much as I cared about the trees surrounding us, the nature that is undisturbed the mother completely excelled and sealed my faith… I love to forage and just look up at all the trees, the squirrels, the deer it’s amazing and it’s such a blessing that so many people never get to see. my own little refuge.

More often then not, my offerings are in fact time. I often sit at Loki's shrine, light some incense, and his candle, then just tell him about what's going on throughout the day, or how the week has been progressing. The energy changes completely, and I can feel his presence there. The difference is night and day. My most recent physical offering to him however was a cluster of potted succulent cactuses. It was a clever way to make an offering of life. He seemed to appreciate the idea. Now on top of having something that will supply a constent flow of energy to his shrine, this plant can also flurish, and grow as our journey continues.

I feel the gods love deeds more then they do physical offerings. For the last five years of my life now, I have dedicated my work as a fortune teller to Frigg, and for it, she has given me back a clear mind and even gave me a love (albeit it didn’t last, but that’s life). I volunteered to a war museum, as an offering to Odin and the einherjar and I felt close to them. And so on and so forth. The gods, especially the Æsir are gods of action, so action brings us closer to them.

While I certainly appreciate the "big moments" that happened for me, it's been the small observances of little events, the minutiae of ordinary life that has surprised me the most. I believe that the Abrahamic "dead world" belief system may in fact be what has most "tuned out" of the sacredness of even the most ordinary of experiences. Definitely a perspective shifting faith.

I agree with you. This is not my path, but he does things I also do in my practice. I am in my early fifties and a female and while I respect all forms of spirituality, I find it difficult to find what I see as "normal", not" flashy or difficult" rituals or habits. The things I gather are in normal glass jars with white lids that I place upside down on my shelves. I don't use many tools, my words in prayer are simple. My offerings are simple too. I sometimes feel a bit guilty, seeing the big displays and rituals others do but then I remember that people of old would do very ordinary looking things and utter simple words because they didn't have exotic essential oils, tons of crystals or even a grimoire (or perhaps any books for that matter). I'm not idealising the past, no, I use modern things all the time, it's just that I feel you don't need much to stay tuned to the spiritual world, and nature if you allow your mind to roam free. This video does a very good job showing how. Much appreciated!

Slavic Pagan here with warm greetings! Very beautiful video, I love the message and I'm always impressed with people that can put some words together in such a way. Few times in this video I felt like it was a poem. Sometimes you can meditate and imagine the roots and such to ground yourself and feel connected to nature, universe and other people - sure it works, but nothing works as well as being barefoot on the ground. I loved since I was a little girl, way before becoming a Pagan. I don't have daily practices that are consistent for me. Most of the times I do nothing, to be honest. It's hard for me to build consistent habits, but it doesn't change how I feel and that I believe that my Gods are still watching over me.

I agree, the camaraderie would be a great thing. I have a small group here in the Northern NY area and we get together, make offerings and drink from our horns with home made mead. It’s not all the time but nice when we get together. This journey is definitely not a populated journey. I like the originality of it and the fact that it is really growing again as people learn how Christianity was so forced on many many people.

@@UnwearyAnubis there are some in va, I just left Va beach. There should be some that pop up, in the fall the normally have a pagan fall day in a park in va Beach near the Chesapeake bay bridge and there are a few groups who go and set up tents and talk to people. 3 or 4 years ago during the pagan fall festival they had an Asatru group do the blot. It was fantastic. Also go to the metaphysical shops and ask around they normally have information like that or know someone who does. Hope this helped. Edit: there was one that was step up by ex military members, they seemed pretty down to earth, I had talked about joining with them, but I ended up having to move out of state, but they were nice.

It's been such a journey for me, for my entire life I have wondered what is out there, yet no religion spoke to me. Yet, ever since I was 13/14 I felt incredibly attracted to paganism, especially the Norse Gods. Last year I finally started practicing paganism after a major experience that helped me cross the line and made me truely believe that it's real. Or at least, real to me. A lot of things started to fall into place for me. Your videos help me even more with understanding it, thank you so much ❤️

I'm so glad I found your channel, you do such a great job at explaining things and I connect with you a lot. I've been down a dark mental path and I've gone astray from my faith but I found your channel and it's helping me get back on track, just a few videos and it makes me feel better and reminds me of my faith and why I started to follow this path. I never could connect with Christianity and I've been raised with it but never in my life have I ever felt "comfortable" with it. I don't think I'll ever tell my parents or family about it however. Being a Norse Pagan just makes me feel happy and free. I'm going to continue watching your videos to help set me on a more solid path. Thank you so much.

But wanting and truly believing are two different things. Do you think you could truly believe in this religion with all of your heart with no doubt? I mean no disrespect just curious of the rebirth of this religion in modern day practices. Id love to believe in the yggdrasil and rat the world is made. Up of 9 realms. But unfortunately we know that those realms are not the lands of fire or fog,, ice giants and dwarves but other planets. Its an interesting take on the idea of religion but I don't know if I personally could ever truly believe it no matter how much I wish it were true. It sounds a hell of a lot better than heaven. But I can't bring myself to seriously say I believe in this thinking pertaining to a religion that lasted for only 300 years then fizzled out.

Coming from a place where christianity surrounds me in the people I live with being different almost makes me feel ashamed but I'm slowly becoming prouder and more confident to be pagan. To be my natural self.

I have two necklaces I haven't taken off in a long time now (I recently did cuz of some personal stuff but it wasn't for very long). Before they didn't mean much to me, they weren't really sacred. But I decided one day to keep them on, didn't matter what the circumstances were. I've given them meaning through this, I have a little shark necklace and an amethyst that sits right in front of where my heart is. You can take things that seem like nothing and make them to be one of, if not your most sacred of objects. It's not the initial meaning that may matter sometimes, most of the time, what meaning you give something is far more valuable.

What a wonderful video! Thank you so much! A personal practice I have that might help others is pretty easy, but most significant. When I put my shoes on, I remind myself that one of the shoelaces represent light, mind and masculine power. The other one is darkness, instinct and femenine power. As I tie them, I make myself conscious about having both inside of me and I take responsability for feeling their dance throughout the day, while knowing that I get to decide consciously how to take their moves and how to let them be part of my live. Hope it helps someone, thank you again for all you do. Blessed be, all of you!
