The forest cannot survive without us, just as we cannot survive without it…This is a belief held dear among members of the Ogiek community and handed down from generation to generation. The Ogieks are an indigenous minority community who practise hunting and gathering. For years the Ogieks refer to the Mau Forest complex their home and the community’s cultural museum.
