My challenges adapting to life in Serbia

These are my challenges adapting to life in Serbia.
Yes, even though Lieles have been in Europe since 2020, he still has cultural shocks.
It is crazy to see how long it takes to adapt living in a new country with different traditions and cultures. The lack of being in a rush is something that he would struggle for a long time.
Love how we all evolve and learn about others around the world.
📍We travel to Fruska Gora, visited the Holy Archangels Monastery and ate at the End of The World (Na kraj Sveta)

Just one tip for the driving in Serbia, for highway-s, buy a "tag", small piece of plastic, you can just put on your front glass of car, behind your middle mirror in the car. You can drive 40/50km near the "station" where you paying a ticket, camera is scanning, you dont need to stop the car, you will just hear the sound from "tag" that small plastic shit and ramp (barrier) is opening and no wasting time on paying always. Cheers buddy 🥂

Moving from Michigan USA to Greece in a few months, and I always hear how European culture is more family oriented. They take their time with meals, which is entirely strange here in the States. Looking forward to getting used to it, but I'm sure I'll feel rushed only because that's what I'm used to...

Hi there! Welcome to this part of the world soon! You will find a lot of shocking things when you move here, because we have been raised in a country where we are taught the way we do things is the right way. But, take one thing at a time, meet locals, let them show you how things are (in Greece, in your case) You will love most of the things and realize, just like I have realized "How was I able to live any other way before this?" We hope you love Greece and get to travel around the Balkans, it is a very underrated area. Hope our videos help with information

@@iss2500 My entire family on both sides are European. I certainly don't need a pseudo-mannerism diatribe. Poland, Spain, England and Ireland...that is my ancestry, and not much has changed about them since their immigrations. My point is that here, in the USA, it is a fast culture; in Europe, it generally isn't. "A typical American mindset". Brother, I understand you place much emphasis on KZread vids to understand Americans. Sorry you are so far off. Perhaps educating yourself on the USA would be of some benefit. Your use of exclamation points reminds me of small minded people on social media. If you didn't get my original point, you're not going to get it now. I have friends in Serbia, Croatia, North Macedonia... So no, I'm not some typical fucking American, although your condescension fits quite nicely with most people's view of Europeans in the US. Thanks for proving some stereotypes right.

I live in Australia, born in Serbia. I love my people in Serbia, and hate politicians. Great to see you having a good time! It's a bummer that the Western world seems to have forgotten some really important stuff like family, genuine living, and looking out for one another. It's like everything's about making money, wanting more, and trying to control everything. Quite a few Western countries have turned into this kind of cold-hearted vibe that's spread to places like Serbia and other parts of the globe. And you know what's kind of scary? Once you get caught up in the whole money and greed thing, it's a real struggle to break free. I've been down that road myself and I'm still trying to figure out how to do the right thing while dealing with all the temptations. I might be affected by it, but I'm not throwing in the towel - I'm still in the ring, fighting.

Now, we know the feeling of tension in the US, and truly it is not good for anyone's mental health. I don't think the tension ever disappears no matter how long you live there. Lunch lasts until dinner, dinner can last until early morning hours and you have some little breakfast with coffe. Good coffe lasts until lunch. It is considered so rude if someone would want to kick you out for enjoying a meal slowly, then having some friendly chat and just soaking up the positive vibes.. If you were to be interupted rudely thats an automatic invite to a fight and trust me, that waiter/manager/owner would have his ass beaten. It is even normal for them to come politely around 1 am to remind you they are about to close in half an hour or so (and you came at 6pm for dinner and some drinks) and if you wouldnt mind switching tables to the outside garden were you can order up a few rounds and stay, if you like, until they open up again at 7am, since the garden doesnt close or lock. I cant tell how many times I have stayed after the restourant/kafana was actually closed, just to have it opened up in the morning again and then I would be greated with the utmost respect and served breakfast. Top notch legendary places never close and I have stayed, with a group of select friends, for 2-3 days even, usually during winter holidays. It is an amazing endurance test, being a part of such a drinking spree or perhaps a part of an older style traditional wedding that must last non stop for a minimum of 3 days. These are some extreme examples of course, but if I am having a nice lunch with friends and I want to stay for an hour or two afterwards and chat with my friends with some rounds of drinks, perhaps some cake later on or coffe and if they would be rude and ask me to leave.. that would be some epic ass whoopin..

I didn't mean the aperitif known in France or the USA, where it only consist of drinks. We actually made a video about "aperitivo" in Spain, since it is such an important meal for us there. But if you go to country side/villages, they don't have all day to eat lunch. When you working on your land/farming, you work all day. You do have a mini siesta during summer days when its too hot be outdoors but mostly you tend to your land and anymals. It is not all like that in Serbia. People still work but they also spent lot of time oudoors, with their kids and friends. Socialising is a big thing in Serbia. I just came back from visitig. Spent 2 months being back home. I found i was borred at times doing nothing. In Australia i have to make plans to see friends or family. Work, work, work is our lifes in the Western world. The only difference between them and our "pets" is species. We communicate with both as best we can which can sometimes feel like you are talking to a wall or teenagers. We feed them, provide a home, schooling (training), medical, and insurance. If either does something bad we are responsible for them. So if you can, please help me understand why that is weird because I find that perception weird in itself, especially when calling a car or Xbox "your baby" is acceptable. Later bro 😁

The longer one would have to dive deeper into human psychology, modern life, western world's loss of compas, and degrading human life by equaling it with animals... what more, often puting animal before human life. I consider myself to be an old scholl Serbian, aware of the fact that we have been infected with western consumerism and conformist lifestyles, often pathetic way of looking at life and relationships, misunderstanding of what love is and where it should be directed... no intention of being offensive, just honest. Wow! That is an awesome perspective I have never heard before. I agree that the western side of world has a moral compass issue lol. However, I don't see it as putting an animal before a human. I don't believe one has more or less value than the other. A life is a life and it should be cherished. But, through your logic shouldn't the animal come before the human as they were here first? Or, because we hold a higher intellect we are the superior species and thus more valuable? But that thought process would also be considered western or should I say American, which is why I left that country. Seriously, thank you for taking the time to chat with me about this. I don't mean any offense. I love learning and trying to understand different opinions and insights.
