Animals are very intuitive when it comes to natural disasters especially tsunamis and earthquakes like in 2004 in Indonesia when all the animals moved up to higher ground a couple days before it happened. And cats and dogs are very intuitive also because they have all four paws on the ground and so they're closer to the ground than we are and they see and hear things at a lower level so they're on a different frequency level than humans are and they feel sensations a lot easier and hear things at much lower decibels than what humans can hear that's why when you watch cat videos it seems as though they're very easily scared by sounds and tiny movements that us humans would not be normally scared by because they hear things very easily and loudly even the small noises that we humans cannot sense that's why a lot of humans are so easily brainwashed.

I was in a cat cafe in Tokyo when a minor earthquake hit. It felt like a quiet, oscillating rhythmic motion. I had never been in an earthquake before and it took about 4 or 5 seconds for my brain to work it out. All of the cats reacted within nanoseconds. It was amazing to see.

I used the stopwatch function on my phone to try to see how quickly the cats reacted. On average, the first sounds of the earthquake occur at 5.6475 seconds. On average, the cats reacted at 5.8425 seconds. The difference was .195 seconds. The cats went from asleep to 100% alert in less than a quarter of a second.

@@boss_niko When our cat was very young, and my son was young, we used to play "hockey" with him in our kitchen. We used mini sticks and a mini net, and would shoot ping pong balls at the net. He was tough to score on, that cat could make contact with just about any shot you took.

That's how my cats react to me opening a can of sardines.

They were synchronized. By an external signal called an earthquake

Great looking cats! I use my cat as a judge of whether I should be concerned about a bump in the night. If I see him on the end of the bed with his head down, no problem. If I see him with his head up looking concerned, that's when I get concerned (which has only happened like once ever).

Same with my dachshund. If he's asleep beside me I know all is right in my world. He's an amazingly accurate judge of character in humans, too, so I depend on him to give me a heads up. So many reasons for a single, older person to have a 4 legged companion. It costs so much to maintain a healthy pet these days that most seniors can't afford vet care. I know what good things my dog has done for my life.

I used to live in Los Angeles. Just like the two cats, it was so hard to judge when you could relax and return to normal after a shake. I remember staying alert and on guard WAY after the shaking subsided.

@@ElliLavender Here I put it in layman's terms for someone even like you can understand.⬇️ There are very slight tremors that humans don't feel before an earthquake hits because we only have two feet on the ground so the vibration doesn't really reach any further than the bottom of our feet if we're standing still because you won't feel it if you're moving plus were wearing shoes normally and were not paying attention usually either when we're busy during the day but animals have all four paws on the ground and they're normally laying around and those slight tremors reverberate through their body because they're closer to the ground too. So if your pets acting weird one day and you're not sure what's going on take off your shoes and run into the basement and see if you feel slight tremors or if you feel it upstairs run the hell out of the house or just get under something.

Cats are sensitive, when the First earthquake waves strike, you mention correcly the P waves that are the First that come when an earthquake happens, then the S-waves come After the P ones, Cats go in full alert when they pickup the arrival o prearrival of the P ones.

Their synchronized reactions came straight out of a cartoon, lol.

I had my cat next to me when EarthQuake hit Croatia in 2020. I remember how she rised her head suspiciously when there was nothing around or no loud noise whichc ould spooked her: Little did i realised moments later that the ground started shaking and everything made sense then.

Then they went right back to sleep. :) That was a really interesting video though. I've noticed cats being sensitive to pending weather changes, noticing emotional changes in their people, picking up on the clues when you're getting ready to take a trip. Incredibly sensitive animals. Your two went from zero to high alert immediately, eyes open, looking around, ears cocked...great footage!

I'm sure they felt vibrations in the ground we can't really feel with our feet, that's why they are so synchronized. If you see videos of cats before earthquakes, they not only panic before the actual quake, they do it exactly at the same second.

I suppose it's also theoretically possible that one of the cats perceived the movement of the other cat, rather than sounds and/or vibrations from the earthquake. Guess we'll never know. 😄

@@AlejandroLZuvic they woke up when the ground hit. you can definitely feel that hitting from below if the earthquake is bigger than 4 and judging by the sounds of objects that one's definitely bigger than 4... if it's 3 something magnitude, you only feel a slight hit while resting.

Looks like a Webcam. I have two of them for my parakeets when I am not at home.

In California 1989. October 17 th my 3 cats jumped up onto the backs ( not the seats ) of the dining room chairs about. 2 -3 minutes before the earth quake Rumbled & shook . I never called them” you crazy cats “ again.

Your girls are lovely and sharp as a tack. My cats didn't flinch during the Joshua Tree quake that lasted two minutes. When the bed started shaking, I thought they were having a fight on the bed. Meanwhile, they were unconscious.

Such beautiful kitties. I hope they weren't too upset by the earthquake. I live in California and my cats were very upset for a few days after the last earthquake

they don't have a sixth sense, well technically yes but it's just that they can feel the smaller waves of an earthquake (unlike us) that always precede them. So they're only reacting to the earthquake, but a bit before us
