Nicky Greenhalgh was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma when she was 32. At times, her diagnosis took a major toll on her mental health. In search of support, she strived to connect with other follicular lymphoma patients. She then started the “Living with follicular lymphoma” Facebook group.
It’s now one of the largest online communities of lymphoma patients.
In today’s conversation, she shares how she was part of a clinical trial, how her diagnosis impacted her and her family and how she hopes her story will help inspire others.

Don't CT scans increase the risk of a second or secondary cancer? How many oncologists mention this to their patients, one has to wonder.

They do, 300 mg of melatonin shuld be taken 2 hours before each CT scan to protect healthy cells.

Did she say follicular lymphoma is incurable? I couldn't make out what she said @20:25.

Yes, she said follicular lymphoma is not aggressive but not* curable, comparing to a different non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtype called diffuse large B-cell lymphoma which is aggressive but curable. Hope that helps!

@@ThePatientStory Thanks! It really did sound like she said incurable for the follicular type. So just to be clear, there are no types of lymphoma that are incurable?

@@ldjt6184 Apologies for that typo! She said it is incurable. Yes, there are lymphomas that are currently described by many as "very treatable but not curable." Follicular lymphoma is one of them, a chronic blood cancer.
