My BOHO MINIMAL Capsule Wardrobe

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Spring has to be one of my favourite seasons... yes because of the flowers - but also because 6 months of WARMTH!
Today I am sharing my latest capsule wardrobe, which I've put together for spring. And it's taken me a little while to really put a name to my style but I think I've finally found one I feel good with and that is - boho minimal. I love the colour, pattern and detail of boho but I also love to keep things simple and minimal.
You can find a full list of my capsule pieces in this blog post:
jaydearchives.com/2019/03/boh...
* Sometimes I use affiliate link in my description and feature products that were kindly gifted to me. However all opinions are 100% my own. I only ever recommend brands and things that I personally love! All gifted items are marked with a *

    I love seeing a capsule that incorporates color and isn’t just based in a typical black/white/denim like you see so often. Beautiful picks!!

    Seeing your IG feed, I've started shopping more responsibly now. I don't buy stuff impulsively anymore. I have limited my wardrobe space so that every time I buy something new, I've to let go of one piece and not over stuff my closet. I still have a very long way to go when it comes to buying handbags and make-up mindfully.

    This is so amazing to hear! You should be so proud of the changes you've made. These things take time to implement into our lives, especially when we are breaking old habits at the same time. And I am a big believer that we are better off making changes at our own pace because we are more likely to stick to them for the long term. Already you have made a big difference! Big love, Jayde.

    I come back to this video often. I’ve been also having a hard time narrowing down my personal style- which ranges from boho/hippie to grunge(in a clean way 😉) I have actually finally invested in a piece from Arnhem after obsessing over your tunic. I love that they have so many color pallets to choose from and i was able to get a nice greeny-torqouise color button up tunic that matches my wardrobe so well. I have to say Jayde that you handle negative comments and criticism SO WELL. I see you treating people with so much kindness and understanding. Such a beautiful quality 🤎

    This is a cool idea I kind of do swap round of clothes for the season then, I do a weekly capsule, I love shopping in my own wardrobe I don’t throw things away it goes from nice clothes, to garden clothes painting/hobby clothes to rags either cut up for the garden as string to tie plants up or rags to clean with ect, I’m in the process at the moment of going through my clothes to find some to tie dye to tidy up some clothes and change up my wardrobe a bit. Awesome video

    First time on your channel. My style is completely different, more classic and preppy, but I love and learn so much by watching all different styles and people. I too have eliminated all black out of my wardrobe as it isn't the most flattering neutral on me. I keep what's needed for specific work functions where I'm required to do so. I also am on the beginning process of buying minimal, sustainable, and ethical. I shop a lot of second hand. Anyway, good video and great job! Enjoyed your video. Blessings!😊

    I mostly buy from charity shops apart from leggings which I struggle to get in my size and underwear. I do buy those from Primark which is fast fashion. I can't afford to buy expensive ones. But as I don't get rid of those until they fully wear out so I don't buy often. I think that's ok.

    *There is no one way to be ethical and at least you are trying (I heard you on a podcast this past week and instantly started researching you it was awesome). We are still people and yes I like buying something new for my wardrobe too. Who cares if you buy something that may even resemble something prior maybe it was wearing out or whatever people don’t know or you also could’ve given it to a friend or someone else who will give it life. There’s a critique a person isn’t vegan or plant based vs eating animals or a person wears some animals or shouldn’t wear PVC etc. The environmental community is vast and should remember we should be glad for every little effort and what makes us comfortable. You don’t shop compulsively and not fast fashion anymore and the wardrobe looks totally you and absolutely takes time to create so keep behind yourself and doing what makes you happiest. Listen to your heart/intuition. Love from Brooklyn.*

    Thanks for this lovely comment! I totally agree that as long as we are getting better and making progress we shouldn't be judged for where we are in our journey. There's a really good quote that says "We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly." And I'm more than happy to say I'm one of the imperfect ones. The eco community can be quite an intimidating one - which makes people scared to talk about it at all. And from my point of view I'd rather talk about it imperfectly and start a conversation than not talk about it at all. And you're right I am still finding my personal style, but I'm making the effort to get there. And once I do that will be the main reason I don't need to buy as much as I used to, or as I currently am. We are all on our own journey and I respect wherever each of us are up to. Again thank you for your lovely comment, it made me smile! :) And I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the podcast!!

  • @jaydearchives5703

    @jaydearchives5703

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey Nathalie! Sure - I would recommend choosing pieces that can be dressed up or down. Things that are tailored but made from linen, pieces with simple elegant cuts and plain colours, or even pieces that are tailored but a little more loosely fit. So for example you could pair a button down shirt with jeans for a more casual look or with tailored pants to dress it up. The key is to choose pieces versatile and have a casual aspect (whether that is the fabric or the cut) as well as a more formal aspect. I really hope that helps! Jayde

    Of course! And I am always talking about this on Instagram. The price is going to be higher for those reasons. However there are way more brands who have really really high price points than those that are more accessible. I love brands like Everlane, Armed Angels and Reformation for more budget friendly options (but of course the problem is people compare their prices to fast fashion brands with unsustainable pricing). So when I said I'm looking forward to more affordable brands I meant $50-200 pieces versus $300-500 pieces. Hope that clears it up, sorry I didn't explain it very well! Big love, Jayde

    I appreciate you are trying to be more sustainable and ethical. I am wondering when you made this change? I am a little confused because I watched this video and then watched your video from just one year ago (2018 Spring Capsule) and you only have about 5 items in total that you have kept for one year to the next. Except for those 5 items everything else in your wardrobe is new and from what I could tell there really wasn't much 'wrong' with so many of your clothes from last spring. Particularly your pink/blush cardigan. You purchased a new one but last year you had one that was practically the same. I'm not trying to be mean or harsh or judgemental but I'm just saying that from my perspective you have not done what you are claiming others should do which is to not just 'get rid' of items because they were 'fast-fashion' or 'unethically made' etc. But it seems to me that is exactly what you have done. I understand that finding your style and personal taste and what works for you is a process and it is totally your life but it just seems a little inconsistent with what you are trying to 'teach'. It's just hard to understand how you see what you are doing as truly 'ethical' or 'sustainable' when you completely turned over 80% or more of your entire wardrobe in just one year. I really hope this does not continue to be a pattern. I am glad you are trying to bring awareness to more ethical and sustainable brands.

  • @jaydearchives5703

    @jaydearchives5703

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Sarah, I totally understand where you are coming from and what you are saying. And I agree, I do need to be keeping more of my items through to the next capsule. I've always been transparent about the fact that this has been a process for me. Something I am working on getting better and better at each time. I am not perfect and I never eluded to that. None of us are, but I think as long as we all make the little changes were we can then we can make a difference. With the pink cardigan the reason I have replaced it is because I travel a lot and the first one I had was so so bulky that it made it really hard to pack light. This cardigan is wool so it's much thinner but even warmer. So I do have reasons for making purchases when I do, they aren't thoughtless. I am also not trying to 'teach' anything, I am simply sharing my story and process knowing that there are others who will relate to it and who might be on the same journey. Obviously we are on different pages in our story and that is ok, I respect where you are at and hope you can do the same for me. Wishing you all the best and applaud you for your efforts in the sustainability space! Big love, Jayde.
