I've never done this challenge but I do have a rule for myself starting this year that I will not keep or buy a clothing piece unless it can be styled in at least three different outfits. I make a few exceptions, like my one fancier wedding guest dress and my workout clothes. But it helps me pick fewer but more practical pieces.

I have 24 items for all four Canadian seasons, my son has around 35 (he’s way more stylish than me) I’ve never counted before and now I realize we are natural minimalists lol we live by capsule wardrobes bc they allow us more time in bed and more room for books and experiments 🙌🏻

When I heard about 33 challange first time, I decided to count how much things I wear normally during the month. It was 26. Next I realized that I need only 17. So now I have 22 pieces for all year, all ocasions*, including coats, bags and shoes. I can not imagine how to wear regulary more than 40 pieces. *I work in office, not from home. And don't have children. ;)

I couldn't make a 22 pieces/year wardrobe. I live in Canada. Sometimes I wear about 12 pieces of clothing at once (including accessories) when it's -20 Celsius outside and I walk somewhere. So it's not difficult to wear more than 40 pieces in winter. Of course summer is different.

Oh dude so true! I started writing down 33 clothing pieces I wanted to wear and I'm currently stuck on 22. :!!! YAY!! THIS MEANS the majority could probably be donated :))))

I love how you added colour...and not just black, white and grey like in most 333-capsules 👍

I think I could try this with 33 garments, but not counting accessories or shoes. Thanks for showing us yours.🙂

I didnt know its a minimalist thing I thought I was just being frugal and since Im living in a tropical countru you wont be needing layers of clothes. Ive been using less than 33 items 10 yrs ago because it makes life easier in the morning before going to work!

Interesting selection. Have fun. Some folks do this per season too. I have warm weather clothes but after clearing my closet/ dresser of items that didn't fit, were hated, stained, torn, unworn or worn out, I have 2 pair of black pants ( one needs to be replaced but kept because I can't just have one pair), 7 dress tops, and 5 t-shirts. I kept the two dresses that live in the coat closet that I love and only wear occasionally. I think I need clothes, lol! Looking forward to a capsule wardrobe.

Just now I realize in around 3months I use : 1arabic dress, 1hijab, 1mask, 2hoodie, 3pants, 3shirt, 2bra, 3underwear, 1sock, 3shoes, 1slipper, 1cardholder, 2phone, 2charger, 1bag, 1notebook, 1pen. And all is black color :D Total 29 :)

this is so fun! I'm moving this fall and I'm only taking what my suitcase can hold hahaha

I've always loved your channel, because you often combine the same pieces a lot in new ways. So I feel like you're already very conscious of your clothes and not to get new clothes too quickly. I don't see a lot of youtubers who are like this, and still so stylish!

I think summer is the best time to test it out because you don't need as many layers! Gives you a good feel for working with a smaller wardrobe and then maybe more confidence to try for cooler months too!

You inspired me to start this challenge! Feels very conscious and smart! I enjoyed my challenge but struggled with desire to buy more trendy pieces...

This is nice, i haven't counted my clothes and accesorries but i dont think it would reach 20😅. I wouldn't buy clothes unless necessary, but i always keep basic and plain top for me cuz i can do and pair it whatever i want.

Great choices! My favorite is the burgundy mock neck since that is my favorite color. Looking forward to seeing some outfits on Instagram. A look book video would be nice too.💕

I love blazers! I think I’d go for black ☺️ I actually love blazers in bright colours but if it’s a capsule wardrobe I think how finding a colour that might work with everything could be tricky..! 😂

Have you thought of having two or three capsules in different colours within the 33. Divide 30 by 2 or three and you can have 15 or 10 in your preferred colours. Search colourful capsule wardrobes...

I heard of the challenge but never tried it. While watching your video I thought to myself "I wonder how many pieces are there in my summer wardrobe that I wear". I counted 29 LOL Counting shoes and accessories I have 36 pieces. Not counting launge and workout clothes. Does this mean I succeeded in the challenge??? BTW love your videos! Your style is so fresh and elegant! I learn a lot from you :)

Hi! I have been using this system since last summer; I have less clothing and more shoes and bags to switch up the mood of my basics. I have been changing it up every three months; however I prefer your method of updating it monthly better because I like to block colours by month i.e. June: navy, July: white, August: wheat, September: Cognac, October: Burgundy, November: Grey. I have four bins for each season and I enjoy shopping these bins ... and will be doing so more often now that I will be changing up my capsule monthly. Thank you for the inspiration. Oh i love the way you approach this! I think that's such a good idea. Since we have such cold winters here I was wondering how it would work with all the layers, but even doing it seasonally would be a good idea :)

I have 212. Idk how you guys live but props to you! I’m just a hedonist

I don’t know where do you live but for Europe it is questionable. 3 months is such a long time weather wise. I can’t imagine wearing sandals and crop tops in September. Then for September there is just one pair of shoes if we follow the same logic. So many summer tops and no sweaters for the cooler days. I think one month timeframe would be smarter. The basics 10-15 pieces can stay for whole 3 months but the rest needs to be adapted to the weather monthly.

Agree completely! I'm testing it out for one month so it's perfect for all summer pieces. But I agree with you, I'm in Canada so if I wanted to do a year round wardrobe with this challenge I'd have to be much more selective because I need a parka and winter boots and many more layers for winter!

Yeah September only began and the temperature already fell down hard :( I can't even wear the pants that I wore one week ago bc it's too chilly for that now

Be a goddess and wear good all the time. Change your mind about about good. Do a pie chart of your day, week and year. Have your wardrobe reflect that. I saw an article a farmer wrote. All she wears is home-made patchwork full-circle skirts with t-shirts or shirts.

Where are those first pair of sandals from? I've been on the hunt for a good pair like those for years!

I only have about 33 items in my whole wardrobe! I'd be better off doing 111. Eleven items in 1 month.

I own 2 pairs of shorts and four pairs of jeans and like ten shirts i dont wear jewelry and own like 2 pairs of shoes and house slippers and 2 back packs and one purse for all year and a wind breaker i never wear and a regular thin jacket cause i live in texas oh and one dress im just not a girly person

One summer wardrobe and one winter wardrobe, with transition pieces as a part of each, like a long sleeve in your summer wardrobe that can layer under dresses or shirts for fall, cardigans that can go on top, or loose pants for winter wardrobe once spring starts, cardigans that can be layered on tees as opposed to solely pullover sweaters. I think part of the idea is to get creative with outfit combos. But I live in a place with cold winters and hot summers so I would have to have two wardrobes like this, but with transition pieces you can easily cover fall and spring.

Yay for scrubs less than 33 for sure like 6 pieces max

When I do this I have some clothes that stay from one season to the next but I also have another wardrobe to keep out of season clothes in. Late changing this year as weather has been awful. Interesting to see some different choices. I couldn't wear some of them but they look good on you.

It's been awhile since you've done this. Are you finding this 333 project to be workable? Do you find that your favorite clothing pieces wear out much faster if that's all you have to wear?

I didn't realize that piercing jewelry was included in this number, I guess I will wear all my piercing jewelry and walk around naked, I guess I had too many piercings. 😂

I have three closets, every square inch full of clothes and I have nothing to wear. 😢 Im still carrying my quarantine weight. I went from double zero to five. 😭 Im in a fashion crisis!

Erin everything its great👌 but In my very personal opinion I dont think blazers should roll UP in arms when they dont have any interesting to show, (when it comes to the lining) . 🤪But thats me, take care

I wanted to try to see how i get on with a smaller wardrobe! If it goes well then I plan to really narrow down on what I have and what I really need :)

Its dawning on me that people who are into the minimalist wardrobe / capsule wardrobe thing might have significantly more clothes than me because i don't even have 33 piece of clothes so I can't exactly cut down.
