@@iamthecaptainnow546 Sadly, if you live in the UK like myself, you’ll know the policing and judiciary systems are useless. Thugs like the ones in this poor woman’s case will be sentenced to 10 years or so, and be back on the street in half that. Anyone who commits an inhumane crime, ranging from sex offences to brutal torture as seen here, in this country, can simply do their time and wander back onto the street as though it never happened. Meanwhile, ordinary folk who may not be able to afford a decent lawyer will be locked up for even the most minor of offences. Dangerous people shouldn’t be on the street, and co-operative members of the public shouldn’t be in prison for barely-offences. Sadly, this is the country I/We live in.

@@eninja35gamer46 When I referred to the policing system, I wasn’t talking about the sentences imposed upon others; of course the police are independent from that. What I was referencing was police breaching their powers to try and land more people in jail. Like the case of PC Musto of Derbyshire police. PC musto was a child sex offender who was allowed to remain a police constable illegally whilst under investigation. Whilst under investigation and still part of the police force, he was charged with GBH and many other offences after unlawfully detaining a 50 year old man. He hit him with his baton twice whilst he was restrained, breaking his leg is several places, to the point where the man could not work. He was awarded £100,000 in compensation, but I’m sure he’d bite the hand of a judge to have a new leg. Now obviously when I refer to the police I’m not talking about every police constable. I happen to very much like police officers, especially those in my area who have reduced crime. I have a good relationship with a Mr. PC Earl of Humberside police who occasionally comes into the shop I manage. However, the policing system and judicial system do cover for the crime of their own, and it’s that which I am highlighting.

Envy is so ugly! I had a bestfriend who I absolutely adored, however as I started doing better career wise, she started to get hooked on illicit drugs. I had a life that a lot of people around me complimented a lot. I let her stay in my house for free, I clothed her and fed her, looked after her neices and nephew while she was on a comedown/hung over - all with no expectations, I only wanted to look after my friend. When I went overseas to visit my mum, I hid some gifts in my wardrobe for her birthday that was coming up while I was away and told her where they were on the day. When I came back, I found out she had slept with my bf at the time (bragged about it to other people) and ruined my home (damaged my beloved pink couch, let a dog give birth on all my belongings - it was crazy!), on top of that she had told our mutual friends that I was getting her to pay all my bills which she was not. Before I found out the rumours and her sleeping with my partner, I had a lot of people telling me to drop her as a friend coz she was not saying very nice things behind my back. Sadly I ended up finding out I was pregnant to my boyfriend which made things worse. I hated those times, I felt so alone... it ended up affecting my work life (I had to quit my job I loved due to my (ex) boyfriend showing up and threatening me about me being upset about him and my bestfriend), I had an abortion, had to keep everything to myself as I didn't want to be a joke to everyone. If you can take anything from what happened to me... please choose your friends wisely. You can be kind to everyone, but be selective with who you invite into your life. I still wish her all the best and love to see her do well but I am still suffering the consequences (anxiety).

It’s normal now a days to say “I can’t imagine...your awful experience” but it’s more empathetic to validate it and say “I can imagine this was insanely difficult and painful”. That lets the person know you believe them, you can try to put yourself in their shoes, and their awful experience doesn’t make them “other”.

@M A - Unless you've been burnt there is no possible way you can understand the pain, mental & physical that a burns survivor goes through. It is like nothing else. It's not just the pain of the burns which is nothing compared to the recovery process which can take years of painful operations and physical therapy. I'm saying this as a burns survivor. I was burnt in 2001 with 65% of my body burnt 2nd and 3rd degree. I'm still having help with my mental health, still having operations and physical therapy.

They had to undergo skin grafts and surgeries into adulthood and still bear the scars. I'm merely being honest in being unable to imagine the amount of pain involved, though it must indeed be an incredible amount. That level of pain is truly inconceivable to me, having never experienced it myself personally. I can only take a guess at best.

@@woomeebly hey, sorry to hear about your relative. They must have extra problems being a child when it happened. As well as being so young to cope with such horror they probably have had to have operations because the of their scarred skin getting tight as they grew. The worse sound I have ever heard was a young lad who'd been badly burnt being brought into the burns unit one night. His screams were unearthly. I can still hear them sometimes 20 odd years later. I wasn't meaning to being rude, sorry if it came across like that. Strangely the deeper your burns the less painful they are. A 1st degree burn will hurt more than a 3rd degree burn. The nerves get burnt away so the deeper the burn the less nerves you have to relay the pain signals to your brain.
