🩰 My ballet TRANSFORMED with this unexpected habit... (ballet, jazz & pottery) | NYC Dance Diaries

Welcome back to the NYC Dance Diaries! This is not only a dance studio vlog, it's also a pottery studio vlog! Today I'm taking you to my ballet classes and a special new jazz class. Plus, I'm sharing an interesting creative habit that changed my mindset toward my ballet journey. As a recovering perfectionist, this habit not only taught me about the value of imperfection, it helped me get back into dancing again after years of feeling like I'd never be good enough. If you enjoy coming to ballet with me, subscribe! I make videos about my adult beginner dance journey every week :)

🍓 HI, I'M VERONICA VICCORA
Hi there! I'm Veronica, welcome to my beginner dance journey. When I was 17, I was told by a teacher that I would never be a ballerina. I let that thought control me for YEARS but now, in my late 20s, I moved to New York City and I'm finally starting ballet late. This is a space for me to document the ups and downs of learning how to do ballet in my 20s and show anyone that it's never too late to live your dreams.

As someone who started ballet “late”, danced on and off for 20 years and is now a professional, ballet is still hard for me. I think that’s the nature of it 😩🤣.

I love it how much opportunity there is in New York for dancing💕 where I live it is so hard to find an adult dance class. Usually it is a children’s dance school which decided to open an adult class for the moms waiting for their children, and so the class ends up being not as serious and very relaxed. At one school, we didn’t even dance to classical music in a “ballet class” because the ladies in that class didn’t like it.. Now I moved recently (to even a smaller Midwest town), and I was so blessed to find a local studio where adult classes are actually taken seriously (they even perform in the recital!), and the ladies in the class are just as passionate about learning as I am🥰

If you have a hard time with turns I recommend filming yourself doing them in slomo to analyze whats good and what can be done better 🥰

veronica i discovered you on tiktok and im OBSESSED with ur content i love it sm! i love how real you are it's so refreshing. i also had to quit ballet at a young age because of financial issues but now at the age of 16 i'm able to start again and you have inspired me to do so! you have changed how i viewed ballet as well. at first it was hard for me to view others dancing ballet because i felt jealous of the opportunities they had that i didn't, but now i see it in a new light, i see my opportunity to resume my dance journey as a way to appreciate the art form. please never stop making vlogs

I recognize your name from my tiktok! WOW!! Thank you soooooo much for sharing this kindness. It really brought a tear to my eye. I completely understand what you mean, and I really applaud for you for working to overcome that sense of jealousy. It's totally normal to feel that way, I struggle with it a lot too, but it's so nice to hear that you're rediscovering the pure joy and love for dance again. It's wonderful having someone like you in my corner of the internet, happy dancing and please keep me posted on your journey!!

If you haven't already you should tottaly read kisses and croissants!! It's a cute book about a ballerina who goes to Paris for the summer to go to ballet School and falls in love. May not be realistic, but it was definitely a good read!

It really does. That's exactly why I worked so hard to get here! Where I grew in a very small town, there were practically no dance studios offering adult classes at all. So it's very surreal being here where there are countless places to dance! I recommend trying some online classes or looking into gyms/health clubs, they often offer adult dance classes depending on where you are!
