What is the EASIEST DAW software? I don’t care about best or professional I need EASY as in time saving, low learning curve and downright LAZY so I can Get More Work Done instead of just burning hours.
I wish we had someone to represent Studio One! That DAW is slept on!

Right! Studio one is my favorite for sure. It changed my workflow for the better.

Agreed! I have an atom and a Faderport! and 90% of these arguments they’ve made for each DAW I can program to one of the 48 user keys on my controller! For example the undo, quantize, and save. I can have 1 of the 32 user keys on the atom do all 3 with one click.
Cubase, Studio One & Reaper for Mixing and Mastering.
I feel like Studio One has potential to be number one. Just more accessible ways to do things like pitch bending and little QOL things could really change the game for it. Such a fluid software, it even has its own mastering specific suite. Recording is easy, producing is easy when you learn how to use the midi and edit tools, Presonus just made the workflow quicker imo. You can create a bus for multiple tracks in 2 clicks.

Just started watching these pods now. Learning so much and laughing my ass off while i do it. Thanks for this, you guys are awesome. Keep up the great work!
Love the chemistry between yall. The FL studio guy is hilarious he got a great personality. I went with Logic for the same reasons - best stock plugins, literally the apple of DAWs, its also cheap too $199 all in is hard to beat with all future upgraded included, think if you had to buy all the stock plugins that come with it how much it would add up to its amazing value. Everyone with a mac has messed with garageband at some point so its super intuitive. Looking forward to yalls next episode keep em coming!
Studio One is it! Reaper is good too (from what I hear). I tried Pro Tools in '09 and kept crashing on my iMac a purchased at the same time.

Digital Performer has been my mixing alt for ProTools for years. …a bit cheaper with similar functionality as PT, can work with all PT surface controllers (if ur into that), and share similar functionalities in configurations and routings. MOTU did add the clips function with scenes and similarities to Ableton.
This would go hard if ya’ll had guests. Engineers, Producers, and Artists that do everything. Great show.

It was good hearing everyone talk about the others daws I don't use.
The comment about Garageband being Logic lite is so accurate. I had been familiar with Garageband for years so Logic Pro was the natural upgrade for me. And I do feel like they're the better all-around DAW. That said, once I started using Pro Tools, they definitely became my favorites for editing, recording and mixing. Clip gain automation is so much easier, the playlist function for recording multiple vocal takes makes more sense to me than Logic "packing" them, and mixing is a just little bit more intuitive. That said, I can still mix perfectly fine in Logic and still prefer Logic for production. I also just need Logic to alter the way it does multiple recording takes within the same track.
These podcasts are incredible fr they need to be at least an hour long fam
Best part of ableton is making the return tracks and immediately having those send (a,b,c,d) knobs. That and they had groups first…love ableton but still have switched to PT for the same reasons as dev.
Fl you can automate any knob. Just adjust the knob you want and go to the big multicontroller button, right click and boom you're done.
And adding to what Courtney said, you can basically record on-the-fly out of Session view in Ableton to Arrangement view. SO as you fire diff clips and all in Session it lays it down as an arrangement.

Ableton for the win lol
Ya'll bugging for Disrespecting Studio One! lol.. Presonus Studio One is easily the best overall daw on the market! So many Logic or even Pro Tools users are leaving those DAWS for Studio One and never looking back.. Luna Btw is coming! Luna will eventually replace Pro Tools in my opinion.. UAD is unmatched.. Logic and Studio One are my mains though.
Logic pro has auto Save so if it happens to crash and you open it back up you lost nothing in living proof. And UAD plugins are top tier next to waves ❗️😌

Ableton can record in mono. I think it automically detects it. Let's say your recording vocals, guitars. The waveforms are in mono. No need to put utility plug in and use the mono button, unless you put some plugins that will make it stereo (chorus, reverb and etc.) Then you have to put the utility mono to make the output mono. I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

Might be one of the best podcasts I’ve ever seen. Hilarious, but also informative. Chemistry is great as well. Good shit my brothas!! #ChipotleGang 😂
Ableton is the best overall to me I can't think of something that I can't do. Audio warping great. Automation is great. The grouping FX rack instrument racks are amazing. You 100% can record in mono for years idk where he got that from. FL is so smooth for production. Best stock plugins by far. Best piano roll by far. I straight up hate pro tools I think it has the most difficult process for almost everything. Studio one looks really good but I didn't use it much. Logic is a lot of fun I feel like I can do everything in there
Ableton all day. Create chains in a track for FX with the audio effect racks. Clean routing with grouping tracks, you can minimize it away so it looks clean. Best routing IMO
Found my new favorite podcast 👍🏼
Heat is something you can by separate. It’s supposed to add analog “warmth”. They just add it automatically when you buy a subscription for ultimate I believe
You guys should talk about the best version of like basic plugins. Like best/worst distortion best/worst reverb etc.

Live has no Mono Tracks, but you can still record in Mono, if you record a Mono Input. But as soon as you want to freeze and flatten, render or resample, you will get a Stereo File. The Actually Recording can still be in Mono. Plus: you can also use, crop or join Mono Audio FIles just like in any other DAW.
@gthcstudios
Жыл бұрын
Actually I have to correct myself. When rendering/exporting Audio, you can also convert back into Mono. Still, the Audio Processing is done in Stereo.
Don’t know about recording in mono for ableton but you can defo import mono tracks.
oddly enough I'm fine with moving to another program. I like everything to be pretty separate. I make samples in FL, beats in LMMS, mix in FL and might record in pro tools but IDK yet.
This the funniest podcast I’ve seen in a long time… this is great lol
Studio one will become the new industry standard. it has almost everything pro tools has , plus built in step sequencer , a super browser , super routing options and the absolute bonus is that you can build almost anything into macros....one push of a button on the streamdeck or in the macro page and it its done.....no matter what
I'm a Studio One and I think Pro Tools and Ableton are at the very top. The number of plug ins and Vsts packed in makes these two the very best bang for the buck. FL is the peoples champion tho
i wanna use pro tools for production but i cant play keyboard and it makes it hard for me…can u make a tutorial on how i can make music without any midi in pro tools
@HelpMeDevvon
Жыл бұрын
Sureeeee!
As far As strong suits go: ProTools has great session management features like Track grouping That lets you control different parameters of a plug-in across multiple channels at the same time for example let’s say you had instances of autotune across multiple tracks an u needed to change the retune speed Instead of changing that in one plug-in and copying the updated instance to the rest of the tracks you can create a group and activate that specific group to Follow all changes on that insert across all of the tracks that are in that group. And as mentioned in the video a strength for FL studio is the piano roll FL studio has some of the most advanced midi editing features I wouldn’t really use the steps sequencer as a huge +4 FL studio because that same behavior can easily be replicated using ableton drum rack with a few more workflow improvements like improved sample auditioning present in ableton drum rack. last but not least Ableton There’s a few like per plug-in channel metering making it very useful for gain staging. Ableton also has probably the most intuitive and quickest sample manipulation warping by far comparatively to the other 2 and most daws, As well as incredibly quick workflows to create complex routing chains for instruments and effects using the instrument and or effect rack So much so plug-ins like Waves studio rack attempt to implement in a much less optimized package. Patcher in FL studio Is similar but can get a little unruly in larger chains due to the manual routing necessary. There’s definitely more to be said about each daw And also logic has great stock plug-ins however until more recently when logic added it’s sampler It was kind of a pain to use for MIDI Havin to convert all my drum sounds then import them to the sampler to then be used or having to recall the musical typing keyboard anytime I wanted to use the keyboard to play something in quickly it definitely was more suited to recording and having an external midi device but Apple does tend to give a fair amount of time and energy to adding new features fairly quickly like Dolby Atmos support and such

I use cakewalk sonar for myself when collaborating I use pro tools
Good stuff
Cakewalk (by Bandlab now) is slept on. Not because of it's capabilities, basically the same as Pro Tools and all the other pro DAWs. Because it's been sold to/thru diff companies, it's lost it's prestige. Back in the day, 1980s - 2010 or so it was always listed as a serious program and used by many pro studios. It's free now but still one of the best out there. As a Full Sail grad I've used them all and still do when needed. Of course, obviously, you're going to cape for whatever you use and know the best unless the choices are specific about what they do the best.

GANG GANG GANG!!
Ableton Records a dual mono signal so even though the Track doesn’t Show just one wave form It just Duplicates what would otherwise be a single waveform to the left and right channels make and get affectively a mono signal. The utility plug-in can be used to reduce a stereo signal to mono However if the stereo Contant on both sides are identical than reducing to mono has no affect I’ve been using all three daws For some time now and that has never been an issue hope that clarified things

I tried a few daws, Fl's UI made the most sense for me, but if fl studio didn't exists, i'd be using ableton.
What about Cbase pro for film and music?
I'm surprised you guys didn't even mention Reason. I used to use Reason with Protools using Rewire until Reason incorporated audio recording then I stopped using Pro Tools altogether. I cone from an analog environment myself having started in the mid 80's with production, and the analog like worflow is tight. Plus the mixing board is actually an SSL board that is phenomenal! I'm sure it's because no one on the panel has taken a deep dive on it, but Reason has the tracking, session management and mixing functionality of Pro Tools, the production tools of Live and FL, and a robust array of both in house and 3rd party plugins, called Rack Extensions, and Instruments, and Player instruments that makes it one of the illest DAWS on the planet! Plus you can use All of your 3 Daws inside of it as a rack plugin. This really is a slept on DAW. It also has the nerdiest quality of all. You can Sound Design Anything and Everything in it, making it the best tool for creating your own sounds while producing and recording. But I love you guys and you're spot on with what you were talking about in terms of each DAW. And I love the sprited discussions that are both intelligent and street at the same time.

Reaper - the best ! Only ;)
As an industry producer and engineer, I've used all 3 or those DAWs, and for me Ableton is the best. It was the easiest to learn and use. That damn FL studio had a lot of functions hidden and makin beats on ProTools is straight ass. Great video fellas!
I'de say the biggest Diverence between Live and other DAWs was the Warp Mode back in the Days - and off course the Session View in general. Those two Things where definitely unique about Live. When I started using Live, the Racks and especially the Drum Racks drew my Attention. Nowadays you have 16 Macros per Rack, Macro Variations, Trigger Capture etc., etc.... The only Thing that really s***s, is the Browser Update that came with Live 9. 🤣
